I remember a moment in Ali vs Frazier II and III where Ali purposely missed a two jab combination on Frazier so he could nail him with a strong straight right and worked just as the doctor ordered as Ali shock Frazier pretty bad and made him stagger. That was In the 2 round of the second fight I believe. In the 3rd fight he did something similar but I forget what round it was.

@CocodriloNYC Regardless of whatever comment is made, that was the whole problem, he didn't have the physique to go with Hopkins. When Hopkins landed a blow, it hurt Trinidad. He hung in there for as long as he could but he simply wasn't in the same class.
What's amazing is that this fight effectively ended Trinidad's career. He never recovered from the beating he took that night. He went from the top of the mountain to washed up in one fight.
Much in the same way that Meldrick Taylor never recovered from the Chavez fight (I still hate you Richard Steele for stopping that with 2 seconds left) or Tyson getting KO'd by Douglas.

What a terrible ending. No one even knew if the fight was over. It looked like the ref started to wave it off but when Trinidad jumped up he was going to give him another chance. Then everyone starts entering the ring. He was still rocked and probably wouldve just went down again, but i hate it when people enter a ring and screw everything up. instead of seeing a great victory, it gets ruined in some confusing mess.

A technical knockout (also referred to as a T.K.O.) is declared when the referee, official ring physician, the fighter, or the fighter's cornermen decide that a fighter cannot safely continue the match.
In some states you have the three knockdown rule which I'm not sure was in effect for this fight.
Tito's father threw in the towel, so this was indeed a TKO.

@edirpevitan seems that way but he actually went for trinidads chin the way a boxer should.With their guard up while they release the other hand so that you can protect your chin / counter just the way Hopkins did.

The way he throws it is not 100% sharp and instead of coming forward while throwing the punch he just stands stationary, waits for the inevitable left hook from Felix, then finishes him off with the brutal counter. Just goes to show just how intelligent Hopkins is as a boxer.

@edirpevitan I noticed the same thing, he probably did do it on purpose. I remember a moment in Ali vs Frazier II and III where Ali purposely missed a two jab combination on Frazier so he could nail him with a strong straight right and worked just as the doctor ordered as Ali shock Frazier pretty bad and made him stagger. That was In the 2 round of the second fight I believe. In the 3rd fight he did something similar but I forget what round it was.

What's amazing is that this fight effectively ended Trinidad's career. He never recovered from the beating he took that night. He went from the top of the mountain to washed up in one fight.
Much in the same way that Meldrick Taylor never recovered from the Chavez fight (I still hate you Richard Steele for stopping that with 2 seconds left) or Tyson getting KO'd by Douglas.

I think alot of people seem to forget that Trinidad was the best figher in the world by a mile at the time of this fight. Say what you want bout the De La Hoya fight before this one, but Oscar deserved to lose for the way he ran those last few rounds.
Then B Hop just manhandled him in this one and I couldn't believe what I was watching. This was the first and only time I ever doubted B Hop going into a fight. They guy just gets it done.

What a terrible ending. No one even knew if the fight was over. It looked like the ref started to wave it off but when Trinidad jumped up he was going to give him another chance. Then everyone starts entering the ring. He was still rocked and probably wouldve just went down again, but i hate it when people enter a ring and screw everything up. instead of seeing a great victory, it gets ruined in some confusing mess.

However, Tito showed what kind of fighter he was. Hopkins won the fight clearly. Tito is still one of the greatst fighter. Bernard was too strong for Tito's weigh.

Tito was a great fighter, I think his dad rushed him too big too fast. Hopkins was too big and too skilled for Tito. I didn't think it was a good idea when he got in the championship box off.

Trinidad did not give himself the best chance to win that fight. BHop did what he had to do Tito did not LMAO @ TheMexHurricane.... I can say ALL Mexicans load their gloves with plaster and there are proof of that (Margarito), or of using steroids (Chavez Jr.) and there is proof of that, but that would be ignorant so I'll let you make the stupid ass comments. Business wise was a smart move cause he made more money and is partners with golden boy,boxing wise showed he did not want to fight a tito again he knew was coming to get ko in is next fight cause tito would have went in the ring thinking different and would have used both hands instead of going left hook crazing... people tito did not have anything on his wrap they felt he had to much dont try to compare him to magarito

@lsuperman29 Whatever. Everytime Tito Cheato loses he blames the other guy for not doing a rematch. He did the same against Oscar. Tito loaded his gloves with too much tape. Tape's denser/heavier than wraps and makes your fists like a cast. That's why his KO% before B. Hop was 85% and 40% afterwards. He couldn't even KO China-chin Roy Jones.

@lsuperman29 Actually, all Boricua fighting out of Puerto Rico are known for loading their hands with too much tape. Thaty's why the Puerto Ricans fighting out of the US don't do as well- because US trainers aren't cheating for them. Lastly, Cubans are the same Spanish/African people as Puerto Ricans and they don't do as well as Puerto Ricans as pros in spite of being a much bigger country--it's the tape.

@Jomar936 I didn't say it, Hopkins trainer said it. felix sr said that's the way it's done in Puerto Rico. That would explain why Boricuas fighting out of Puerto Rico do much better and have alot more power than Boricua fighting out of the USA even though those in the USA outnumber those in Puerto Rico. That's why Spanish/African Boricuas do better as pros than Cubans(and others), who are also Spanish/black and outnumber them.

@cysince86 tio would have not fought the same way,he would have used his jab more and not just try to land the left hook.Like I said before hopkins fought a good fight and had a good plan,but I have seen tito fights before he became champion and when he was champion fighting all the top contenders in his weight class. Tito would have fought different and used that jab and I know hopkins would have got KO,in the fight hopkins felt the body shot tito gave him and tito did not go to the body
