i'm not saying martinez isn't good, but he is very overrated. who has he ever beaten? his only notable wins were over an alcoholic kelly pavlik, and a lucky eyes closed shot on williams. until he proves himself againt some top shelf opposition, he can't really make a claim on any mythical pound for pound ranking. hopefully we'll get to see him against a well past his prime cotto later this year, and then perhaps he has a chance to get at least one good name on his resume.

He weighed roughly around the same weight at 36 the same when he was 20. Pacquiao starved himself as a kid eating dogs and rats. Gaining weight came natural to him overtime. i'm not saying martinez isn't good, but he is very overrated. who has he ever beaten? his only notable wins were over an alcoholic kelly pavlik, and a lucky eyes closed shot on williams. until he proves himself againt some top shelf opposition, he can't really make a claim on any mythical pound for pound ranking. hopefully we'll get to see him against a well past his prime cotto later this year, and then perhaps he has a chance to get at least one good name on his resume.

@matrixlone Yes, because the Welterweights are the hot spot right now, so I can't blame Maravilla calling out the guys from this weight class. I know it's not impossible for a Martinez vs Pac fight May vs Martinez but the most likely outcome is that Martinez would beat these midgets. Even at catchweight.

@warayupai Martinez's first time stepping into a boxing gym was when he was 20. He started his pro career when he was 22, a full fledged adult. He weighed roughly around the same weight at 36 the same when he was 20. Pacquiao starved himself as a kid eating dogs and rats. Gaining weight came natural to him overtime. Martinez moving up weight classes like Manny did is literally impossible.

What's the purpose of boxers' hardwork? MMA, WWE, Boxing all have some championship belts because it matter, that's the reason why they are training hard to wear a belt and be recognized as the best?! So imagine a sport without a champion? @warayupai Belts don't matter. There's not 1, not 2, not 3 but 4 belts in 17 weight classes. 5 counting the ring magazine belt. If I trained in boxing RIGHT NOW.. and got a good promoter.. I'd win a belt easily. It's not that hard, guy. Boxers don't train hard to win the belt, they train for the money and recognition. MMA only has 1 belt, and that's pretty much the legitimate champion. @warayupai You're talking about Martinez's record? Look at PAC'S record and the record of his last 5 fighters. All 5 of those fighters were coming off of BIG losses. Hatton, lost big and knocked out against Floyd. DLH, hasn't been in welterweight since 2001 when he fought Mosley. Cotto got beat up and battered by hands of concrete Margarito and battered by Clottey. Clottey who equally got battered by Cotto, Margarito who's been off for 1 year suspension and got BRUTALLY beat by Mosley.

@GrandPappyJeffz Hehe, his upset! But let me tell you this Manny beat all those washed up, old weight drained, coming from a loss fighters better than anyone did. He beat Morales in a more dramatic fashion than Barrera and David diaz did. He flattened Hatton in 2 compared to PBF's 10. He fights someone's leftover but he will beat them better than the previous fighter did. Look at the diaz morales fight, the young diaz can't K.O the old Morales. Khan did not look good when he fought Barrera.

After reading some of the comments on here I've come to the conclusion that a lot of Pactards just love eating the big plate of BS that Arum feeds them. Answer me this. How in the hell can you compare Pac vs. Martinez to Martinez vs. Klitschko? Klit outweighs Martinez by damn near 100lbs. Last time I checked Martinez didn't weigh 240 or 250 which would be 100lbs more than Pacs weight. Pac has a 154lbs belt that he won from a big man in Marg. Yet a big man with actual SKILL he can't fight right?

@dotole carlos baldomir is nothing compared to martinez bro, they cant even be compared, martinez is a better boxer period and he proved that he can fight and beat some of the best out there, baldomir never really did that. obviously his style has been working for him, so we'll see hows it works for him in his next fight. whether you love him or hate him, you atleast gotta give him credit for what he has done.
