I'm in Penn State's band, we got booed pretty hard in last time we went to Michigan...but that was actually one of the coolest things I've ever experienced. We didn't get booed nearly this bad at Ohio State this year. The only thing that pisses me off is when fans taunt or throw things. I've got a ton of respect for both of these programs, and performing in the Big House and Ohio Stadium are experiences I'll hold with me for a long time.

In fact at the Illinois vs. Michigan game last year Illinois' marching band played the Michigan fight song for Michigan fans. NOW that is a classy show. true. they do sort of have the same pregame routine though. they march out on the field at a high bpm, they both play their fight songs repeatedly, and they both have their own signature moves (Ohio State: Script Ohio, and Michigan: The Victors.) They both do the chair step, but Michigan moves while doing so, which stands out a lot more than Ohio State just marking time while doing the chair step. But, they both look and sound good.
Atleast we got to play Flordia, mabe one day Michigan will get a chance to play a good team. Granted they will have to beat appalachian state first.... baby steps Michigan and u might get there

People need to have a little more class. Yes, Ohio and Michigan have one of the biggest rivalries in football, but the people you are booing spend hours everyday working on their music and drill, so that they can perform it for the fans, they are being booed because of their colors and not for their performance. That is low and immature. I am so glad that when I performed with my college band at the "Shoe" the crowd had a little more taste. Collegiate marching bands deserve so much more respect.

Whenever Michigan and Ohio State football teams play one another, the away team's Marching band comes out and gets booed.. Both teams boo the others Marching Band, thats how its always been.
Its all about the rivalry between Michigan and Ohio State... The greatest rivalry in sports period. Go Blue!

But, for god sakes there HAS to be mutual repsect, i dont really care who you root for in this ridculous rivalry, coming from someone who was raised to hate OSU but also i have come to believe the opposing team is not asking to be booed when entering! The are musicians, just like you. I think it's fantastic you love your band, but as a bad kid you can't boo other bands, thats just not right.

Um since when does one person decide what's right? If booing a team is ok, booing a band is ok. As a bandmember, you expect it and you enjoy it. It doesn't hurt our feelings. There is a mutual respect among OSU and Michigan. If you can cheer a team, you can boo a team. It is the crowds right that they obtained when purchasing the ticket. It is right, it is ok, it is life.

In fact, I was watching the Ohio State marching band perform at the same game and was shocked at the lack of positive feedback from their own fans. Seriously, Ohio State, show some respect for the bands, they work just as hard as the football team!

Several year's back scUM ran thru "Script Ohio" during the performance....next year the OSU Team tore down the M Go Blow (I mean Blue) Banner that their team runs under. It's all part of the game. People need to have a little more class. Yes, Ohio and Michigan have one of the biggest rivalries in football, but the people you are booing spend hours everyday working on their music and drill, so that they can perform it for the fans, they are being booed because of their colors and not for their performance. That is low and immature. I am so glad that when I performed with my college band at the "Shoe" the crowd had a little more taste. Collegiate marching bands deserve so much more respect.
