i have the same computer, had it for two years, TWO YEARS!, and the whole computer went to shit! everything shutdown and broke.dont let the beauty of it fool you, its not a reliable computer!!
hey dude mine used to do that. every once in a while you have to take the battery out and unplug the charger and hold down the power button. the reason it happens is because of a buildup of static. try it.
dude, you can turn that volume pad sound off, you know :D i did that to my dv5, but it was a while ago, and i can't remember how to do it, i suppose it's somewhere under the sound settings
i also had the touch buttons sound problem but i got it fixed with a bios update of their website

I have a similar laptop. My left hinge is crappping out. It creaks and stuff. >_>
But otherwise it works.
The lights are from heat or something, since that's how they kinda work.
