  • i have this in my instrument book (im learning to play bari sax) but it sounds nothing like this, nor is it as long!

  • YOur lyrics r all wrong!

  • Not so bad. Actually, rather good. Always enjoyed Stodola pumpa.

My grandmother (mother's mother) was Bohemian. She practically raised me and I was always closer to her side of the family than any other.

    Dekuji!

  • Oh gosh ! We sang this in 7th grade in 1970.

  • Cool! Other than family, I don't know many folks who know this song. Perhaps it's different in your neck of the woods.

  • Can anyone give me, or lead me to, the original Czech words? Text, recording - anything. Please send me a message on my channel, martamima - and thank you very much!

  • I'm sorry; I can't help you with that. Good luck, I hope that someone will send you those Czech lyrics.

  • Gaaaah! There is a an arrangement for two violins and some novice students plays it here in Sweden. The instrumentation and melody is ok but the whole musical idea of this song must be the silliest, country bumpkin thing I've ever heard, next to swedish "dansband"-music and finnish "umpa"-style. Good effort though!

  • Thanks for the comment. I'm kind of a silly country bumpkin myself so that explains why I love this song! :)

  • Love It! You played it really well, I've been looking for the lyrics for this song for ages!

  • Thank you! I'm glad I could help!

  • lol @ Ian - where do you find these people?

Love the video & great job on the song. I love that "open air" sound - like a carousel in the summer.

  • Oh, that Ian! He gave me a chuckle too. Thanks for the compliment and the lovely image of a carousel in summer.

  • I thought you played that rather well! And any reference to a gay maiden will always pique my interest, but I digress...

  • Thanks for the compliment. There is something alluring about a cheery gal isn't there?
