  • i love ur vids but i hate watching u destroy those eautiful sword

  • i really enjoy paul's sword recovery in most of this vid. i also enjoy (unlike other vids on you tube) paul actually keeps body alignment and balance post cut, where other folks rend to lean way off balance and a simple crescent kick would cause them a sword match

  • yeah should of tried using it more as a jian rather than a katana, it's not a slashing weapon, its design is meant for fast thrust and quick hacking motions with a flick of the wrist. The objective is to deflect, and than counter

  • @draydrone A one handed jian should be used more in the manner you describe, true, but a two-handed jian such as those from the Han Dynasty... Well, the Han Dynasty ended 1800 years ago (1781, to be exact), we have almost no records of their martial arts, and martial arts are always evolving, so who's to say who's right and who's wrong in how to handle a two-handed jian?

  • Jians are one handed...

  • @072925126 not all study your chinese sword history please

  • why you handle a jian like a katana??? that is too bad.

  • @MrTheking350 he is more of a katana kinda guy... i get accused of handling a katana like a dao. :)

  • I'm guessing this Jin Shi Jian has a simple diamond crossection as opposed to a convex edge. The sword I ordered from them did. That kind of edge makes it better at cutting soft targets and easier to sharpen, but more prone to rolling its edge on hard targets. The one antique Jian I have has a convex edge. My understanding is the Cheness Tenchi does as well which would in part explain why its edge is so tough and resistant to deformation.

  • @rtuain jin-shi usually has a leticualr geometry, however on a custom han jian it can be ordered with octagonal geometry (traditional 8 sided sword)....

  • @SirTreSwordReviews The 32k layer sword I ordered from them must have been ground in an atypical manner then.

  • Why is it that I have to contact someone before to order a Jin Shi sword? If they are only doing custom orders, id rather select my options from the website. Its hard to do window shopping when you have to talk with the owner of the shop beforehand. Then when you dont buy something, it feels like you wasted his time. This seems like a really nice sword though.

  • @LotusDragon09 Garrett is all about service... he would never think you wasted his time... also what you hear from him, tho you might not make a purchase now, will stay on your mind enough to make you want to buy one later.

  • You've lost a great deal of weight, when I compared to older videos!

  • Is it just me, or does Paul look like he lost quite a bit of weight since his first video?

  • @ReaperD23 all the cutting tests, wearing mail, flexing blades finally paid of

  • What is better jian or katana?

  • @sasuke0447 In terms of battlefield usage, Katana fits much better than a jian. Even back in Han dynasty after which the sword in the video is named nowadays, huan shou dao(ring-headed single-edged blade, sorta like a katana without curve) started to replace jian in the battlefield, leaving it more a symbol of power. In recent a few hundred years, after Manchurian conquered Chinese inner land, their nomadic style dao became more popular. Anyway you don't really want to compare them at all.

  • @sasuke0447 it's not necessarily a pick between those two. longswords are also very great swords.

  • @sasuke0447 it depends upon your martial style of training

  • No link to review

  • finally.. chinese swords have hope

  • you should really do a video on the shinwa swords as i have been wondering about them the past couple of years.

  • Cut at 1:42 looks so good it looks set up lol. So clean with the little power it took.

  • whats the difference between this and sigle handed jian. seems little and light to me 4 two handed sword.

  • @kaaajeee Jian are very light swords, you get more power in using both hands on a sword, so it's more powerful than a one handed Jian. Jian are meant for stabbing and for leaving tons of slices on the enemy. Tai Chi and other martial arts use the Jian in a very interesting way.
