its funny how CAD software has embraced the ribbon interface before anything else (aside office) yeah I know there is other software that uses it, but if we take into account software classifications CAD software as a whole uses it way more, than any other type of software, it makes sense because CAD software embraces windows much more than any other software also, I don't like the ribbon approach but I find this amusing =D
God will you people posting crawl back under your rocks and shut up. You have no idea what you are talking about. "Let's pull 3DS Max and Maya into a CAD discussion". Morons.
Both astonishing programs. But TechniCom must not have done full comparisons, like the Measure tools or the Constraints/Mates. Inventor's Constraints are difficult to trace, and that AI Measure tool - ugh, no comparison there. Now I wonder how fundamental things like those remain when other parts are so powerful? Besides, this guy sound like a desperate lawyer.
anybody here notice he said 2011 inventor vs 2010 solidworks not even fair becouse solidworks has introduced alot in its new line of 2011 products. solidworks has been around for over 15 years were inventor is less than 5
I dont like 3ds max (infact I hate 3ds max, no offense to anyone that likes it.) and im not interested in any other autodesk software, but inventor is fucking awesome. Im a blender user.
@rocknroll980 - You do realise that Inventor and 3ds Max are completely different applications, aimed at completely different tasks, right...? And, if anything, Blender has copied a lot of 3ds Max features and interface elements, so it's odd how you say you hate a specific program and then say you use another (very similar) one.
@RFC3514 Ive used inventor and am very well aware that they both are aimed at different angles. I said I hate 3ds max, not autodesk, I like maya. and Blender did NOT copy off 3ds max's interface, blender's interface has been superior to 3ds max's interface for a long time now. I like maya's interface 10x more than 3ds max. I didn't say I hated 3ds max from a fanboy point of view, I just hate it cause Ive tried using it and struggle with it.
@socialjunsu - Inventor is mainly for industrial part design (for prototyping, manufacturing, etc.). Maya (like 3ds Max, Softimage, Blender, etc.) is aimed mainly at the entertainment industry (i.e., character animation, special effects, etc.). You can transfer models between them, but they're really designed for very different tasks.
@MrTauro1919 At 1:03, I'm demonstrating our Technology Preview of Autodesk Inventor Fusion. Fusion can be downloaded for evaluation by searching for Autodesk LABS. No links are allowed in comments, otherwise I would put the link directly to it. Thanks for your comment - Rob
I haven't had the chance to get familiar with the newer versions of Autodesk Inventor, but i have same experience with 9 and 10 versions and I didn't like it very much back then.
But based on the videos it seems Inventor has come a long way since version 10.
AutoCrash Inventard. Try making aerospace parts with this software and you'll crash every 30 minutes. Try doing structural steel applications with it and you'll pay about $3000 too much. Go with Pro/E for the weird-looking parts or Alibre Design Expert for structural steel. And screw Catia either way. It's so stinking expensive even Boeing purchases it per the user/hour.
used Inventor,SW,Pro-E,Autocad in school and on the job and i love SW much more than any of the others. hard to learn at first but once mastered you can quickly branch off and learn the other systems, plus imports all the others easily.
Nice to see that you are excited about the study. I personally believe that Inventor is better than SolidWorks ,but I'm quite sceptical about the results of the study since the study is sponsored by autodesk. I would like to see same kind of results from independent research.
Making direct comparisons to other CADCAM software is the only way to convince and convert potential customers who are very skeptical of any type of claim made by a CADCAM company.
A well respected CAD analyst firm, payed by a CAD vendor to analyze competitors - GREAT how stupid must you be to believe this bs

My favorite cad system is CATIA but I've never used Inventor. Would love to try it out to see how it compares.

@socialjunsu Maya, maya can pretty much do everything with models. inventor is strictly limited to engineering.
