Stretch, work out and get your thighs and legs extremely powerful and flexible. When you have strong, flexible legs, you have the flexibility to get to that wide stance, and the strength to hold it.
ya can you please answer my question umm well i really have trouble getting up with mi right leg because im use to geting up with my left leg but if i do mi right to much i might forget how to get up with my left leg
A C-cut is when you are skating and your legs make a C motion going backwards and forwards. This move isn't used much by players as they tend to push their legs from side to side, and cross-cut when going backwards, but for goalies, it is an vital tool used.
@ lolkid5000: yeah, the video was out of sync for some reason =P
Yes true aswell. I was in Luongos goalie school a few years back, and what he taught me was useless. Because of the size difference. You are right about the powerglide compactness thing, because if you are butterfly sliding its probably a back door play, where the player is in tight.
Great video! How much of this translates over to roller hockey? Thanks

if the puck is on your right, you rotate, and get up with your left leg.
if the puck is on your left side, you rotate, and get up with your right leg.
as for forgetting how to get up, its like riding a bike, you never forget how to do it.

Very nice, nice speed but one thing. When you go down you should make a nice Compact butterfly, like when you slide across.

it depends on how close the shot is. where the person feels comfortable in a given situation.
maxinator39 4 years ago
true true. but if u look in the nhl the goalies are rarely not being compact
