Often I've heard Converge called one of the best bands making heavy music. It's really hard to classify them. Their technically not a metal band. They're more grounded in the hardcore scene. In a few interviews they've used the word 'punk' to describe the sound of some of their albums.

You can't even tell what the vocalist is trying to say (every single song sounded like the same bark over and over again - there were no lyrics), there's too much timing change to call it musical, it really just sounds like they make music by hitting what the fuck ever. @ChAllanz I like polyrythmic music (like Meshuggah) and basically music in general (with a preference towards metal, however I can't stand rap) but the tempo changes on the drums just don't match well with the rest of the music - all the instruments sound seperate instead of like a band. And I'm not saying these guys can't play - they are definitely technically skilled, but being technically complex does not equal aesthetic value. These guys just aren't my cup of tea.
