This was an attempt to get girls active, become comfortable with their bodies, develop self-esteem, confidence, and ambitious attitudes along with good fitness levels. Combine this with proper nutrition, not starvation diets, and you will soon have truly attractive women, who will attract the right kind of man. The problem with this kind of product is that we don't have a present-day version for today's children. God help us.
@Rhino5855 Oh holy hell...it was a way to cash in one the aerobics/jazzercise trend for the "mommy and me" set. Besides, where were the workout toys for boys?
@electrogeek77 Their toys were in the weight room, the sports supply room, and the track. The market of boys in fitness was not only established, but it reigned. How many professional sports leagues had women? This was a male dominated industry. This outlet was a way for women to maintain physical shape and maintain their femininity at the same time. Girls did dance and aerobics. Boys did sports. That's how it was.
I had the ribbon!! I loved it! Also... they were still making Get in Shape, Girl gear in recent years. We were shopping a few years ago for Christmas presents and found a GISG set for our daughter, which she loved!
It's like Great Shape Barbie!!!
