Yo this is a good song I like it but Nas killed Jayz with his whole album STILLMATIC and jay himself admitted that he thought he was done in A star is born he said " i got stillmatic on bootleg thought we was all dead. Jayz got beat by Nas end of story. But Jayz is a legend!!
@babyforrest124 he actually said "I had the Illmatic, on bootleg

Smiling in my face, glad to break bread with the god
@utube86221 ok dumb shit there are 2 lyrics below. one is from biggie's victory and the other for jay-z's niggaz in paris. if hes biggin up his brother then why would you change it and make it your own, hes taking somthing he would never have thought of himself and makeing it sound like his own. you feel stupid yet I'm liable to go Michael, take your pick
@miraclekid86 "IF I SAY A BIG VERSE I"M ONLY BIGGIN UP MY BROTHER, BIGGIN UP MY BOROUGH, I'm BIG ENOUGH TO DO IT, I'M THAT THOROUGH PLUS I KNOW MY OWN FLOW IS FLUID" do you get that or not. cuz you call me a dumb shit but you Jay-Z been clarified this..call me dumb but you are the only person on here dick eatin..on a subject thats has been shut down by Jay-Z a long time a go with the line above..so fuck you dumb shit..ON TO THE NEXT ONE
@utube86221 you completely ignored the point I made in my comment, are you retarded? or does the sound of your own bullshit get you going? either way that makes you a fool and, I don't argue with fool coz people from a distance cant tell who is who. if you got jayz dick out ur mouth u might be able to recognize the long list of rappers that did more musically then he has! faggot
@miraclekid86 lol, jay-z has WAY better lines that the ones he borrows from biggie!
listen to the song "beach chair" its better than anything big, pac, nas, big l, has ever mad the only song that beats it in my opinion is stan by eminem!
@VSizzle10 1st off I know the tune "beach chair" and if you think that tune is better than anything big, pac, nas has made you need to go have your hearing tested!!! you sound like one of these brainwashed wannabe rap fans that say there rap fans but really there being controlled by the industry telling you whats hot instead of making up your own mind, I bet you like lil wayne and young money too lol. 2nd if you base who is the greatest on one tune then your a fool.
@miraclekid86 he sasid that to up him since he was giving props to everyone in that song... but he just meant the he thought it was ahead of its time never that he used it!
@VSizzle10 12 great albums false in truth its 2. black album, blueprint 3. I lik his recent stuff but in my opinion it took jay-z a long time to warm up and get to where other rappers got early in there career, he only went international after he got with beyonce before that he had the money to market himself well, to get the sales. if you think about it there more to making a good argument then saying listen to "beach chair" how old r u if like im in the playground lol
Jay-z lost to Nas. Thats settled in hip hop history. The majority of listeners from all sides of hip hop recognize that Nas "Ether" was the knockout punch. Nas is the only rapper to give Jay-z a loss..........That being said. You cant judge who is the better rapper based off of one song. Jay-z is the king of rap. Nas beat him. But career wise Jay-Z wins there. Thats no disrespect to Nasir.
I dont think a bunch of dick jokes and homophobia with a few facts thrown in was a "knock out punch" by any stretch of the imagination. And Nas SIGNED ON JAY-Z'S LABEL YEARS after the fact. Knock out punch? fuck outta here.
@KunalShark you are an oblivious dumbass fucking retarded goat demon that likes to run up walls and have sex with bread when hes chewing on FUCKING BUBBLEGUM. The name of the song is Blueprint 2.
@blackplaque617 To me this is what won the battle for HOV. Ether was just name calling. NAS didn't really spit anything damaging, ether was just a hot track and that's it.
@blackplaque617 Your comment was top comment so I commented on it. And Jay won the battle. Ether was just a bunch of schoolyard disses. Jay was spittin facts. You probably just like Ether beat more than Takeover's.
@Bankallday Takeover had a much better beat, but Ether was lyrically superior. The point of Ether was to show how much of a dickrider Jay is. Everything Nas said on that track was true. I like both MC's, but Jay could not fuck with Nas, he even knew he lost. Don't get it fuck up, the takeover was no joke, that shit would have ended almost any other rappers career. Honestly, the takeover ended Mobb Deeps career not Nas.
@blackplaque617 Ether was lyrically lame, and please don't post more Ether lyrics! HOV tore NAS up on this track and got in on NAS in a factually level. NAS is a hypocritical wanna be intellectual. Ether just sounds good, but it doesn't have any substance. Anyway this beef resurrected NAS's dying career, and now his career is dead again.
Best song on this particular album, I dont care if he sampled. Deal with it! All music is derivative of the music ancient man was making so get out of here with that
@keithfaceification the album he came out with after he retired was wack, n the albums after and before blueprint, reasonable doubt, and black album was mediocre.
@iamsofakingwetoddit1 watch the throne, american gangster, blueprint 3 were nice. u must have your cd's mixed up lol..and kingdom come was nice. jay is everchanging. as a fan it is unreasonable to think that every cd will be volume 2, or reasonable doubt. he isnt going to be as introspective as he was on every album in the same way he was in the dynasty in songs like "this an't be life" and " soon you'll understand"
And like jay says in this song, I did not understand what the fuck nas was...
he plays nas' face. It's not Hov's fault that the mainstream and the underground give him respect. Best rapper alive. Nas fell off, kelis fucked up dude's head lol
I like how original rappers are these days when they don't even make their own base beats. EXAMPLE: this song, backround - ennio morricone- ectsasy of gold from, The Good The Bad and The Ugly. I mean really Jay-Z? Old school guys are the real rappers!
@troyiscute123 how polite of you faggot for correcting me. Your assistance has really been appreciated douchebag. And whoever Troy is, I'm sure he's ashamed to have you in his life you dickhead. Name calling gives me balls to monkey stomp on shit within the internet!
@troyiscute123 LAWL oh man the internet nerd rage is about to pop off. I didnt misspell anything clown I merely got the wrong name. But if something small like that makes you want to cuss an individual out, we should be drowning your mom for not having an abortion. Peace faggot.
@shansyn oh yea? he composed the drums and mixed everything in this inustrmental? just trying not to overlook the fact that skill is skill, and if the producer didn't have a musical ear and the enigeneer wasn't familiar with what he was doing, the sample wouldn't mean shit. and all music is recycled or has influence that stems either from other music or elsewhere. if we don't take the good qualities from those before us, we are not being taught anything
@DefnishenTV You arrived at a conclusion which I was not implying. My original comment was directed at those that were under the assumption that this beat is an original from Jay-Z. I completely agree with everything else on your post with regards to the incorporation of previous "good qualities" to enhance the music of today.
@shansyn sorry man, I tried to scoop the rest of the comments to see where this started, because I don't like talking out my ass, but I guess I must have missed the first few ones. I wasnot disagreeing with your comment either, it's true, that'swack when people don't recognize all the inlfuence or contribution of the composer of the song/score etc that's being sampled in a song, and with Jayz, there's a lot of help from others, including Biggie for a lyric or two, no hate, Jay still rips bangers
@DefnishenTV And if you keep believing that, we'll never move ahead and we're not. Almost all the popular crap today is ripped off of older originals. Yes people redo great songs and sometimes make them better but what we need right now more then ever is originality, not more regurgitated content from times of the past. Without originality music is a spinning record on repeat. It's people like you that keep regurgitated unoriginal music popular.
@youdontsmokeweedmell inspiration doesnt involve skill at all. it's something else entirely. and if making a track with popularity like this was simple, more people would be caking off of the music biz. and btw, since I've been in a band and I know this, taking a sample and making a drum loop a bass line and whatever else is the same thing that live instrumentalists do when they jam. they make the rhythm off the loop of the drums off of the bass. any combo. HipHop's normally only 1 person though
@youdontsmokeweedmell You need to listen to 9th Wonder talk about sampling. There's a LOT of skill that goes into sampling. But there can be lazy /shitty sampling the same way there can be lazy/shitty composing. Jesus Walks by Kanye is a shitload of sampling, but you gonna say it took less skill to arrange and mix that, than it did to compose "Laffy Taffy" by D4L ?
@smrzan The song sampled is "L'estasi dell'oro" by Ennio Morricone, it's in the score of "The good, the bad and the ugly". There is also an amazing hip-hop beat remix of this song without any lyrics that has been used in a Nike Football commercial with Tomlinson and Polamalu.
@vichinni Hey homophobe. Fuck you. It's called sampling and the choice was incredible. Ecstasy of Gold by Ennio Morricone pulled off by a rapper is not an easy feat. Take your hatemongering somewhere else dick
when the grass is cut the snakes will show..

I like how original rappers are these days when they don't even make their own base beats. EXAMPLE: this song, backround - ennio morricone- ectsasy of gold from, The Good The Bad and The Ugly. I mean really Jay-Z? Old school guys are the real rappers!

Giving credit where credit is due. This beat is originally from Eric Morricone - The Ecstasy of Gold (from the film The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.)

DefnishenTV 3 months ago 21
@DefnishenTV You arrived at a conclusion which I was not implying. My original comment was directed at those that were under the assumption that this beat is an original from Jay-Z. I completely agree with everything else on your post with regards to the incorporation of previous "good qualities" to enhance the music of today.
shansyn 3 months ago
@shansyn sorry man, I tried to scoop the rest of the comments to see where this started, because I don't like talking out my ass, but I guess I must have missed the first few ones. I wasnot disagreeing with your comment either, it's true, that'swack when people don't recognize all the inlfuence or contribution of the composer of the song/score etc that's being sampled in a song, and with Jayz, there's a lot of help from others, including Biggie for a lyric or two, no hate, Jay still rips bangers

@DefnishenTV well fucking said sir

AtheismISgod 3 months ago
@DefnishenTV Its not hard to sample other peoples work. And there is little skill in putting a different beat to someone elses music.
youdontsmokeweedmell 2 months ago
@youdontsmokeweedmell inspiration doesnt involve skill at all. it's something else entirely. and if making a track with popularity like this was simple, more people would be caking off of the music biz. and btw, since I've been in a band and I know this, taking a sample and making a drum loop a bass line and whatever else is the same thing that live instrumentalists do when they jam. they make the rhythm off the loop of the drums off of the bass. any combo. HipHop's normally only 1 person though
DefnishenTV 2 months ago
@youdontsmokeweedmell You need to listen to 9th Wonder talk about sampling. There's a LOT of skill that goes into sampling. But there can be lazy /shitty sampling the same way there can be lazy/shitty composing. Jesus Walks by Kanye is a shitload of sampling, but you gonna say it took less skill to arrange and mix that, than it did to compose "Laffy Taffy" by D4L ?

what song is sampled at 0:33 ??? anyone know?? plz reply
smrzan 5 months ago
@smrzan The song sampled is "L'estasi dell'oro" by Ennio Morricone, it's in the score of "The good, the bad and the ugly". There is also an amazing hip-hop beat remix of this song without any lyrics that has been used in a Nike Football commercial with Tomlinson and Polamalu.
