  • You can do it with MIUI Rom ;)

but it is not for iphone phone

  • Steve jobs is an idiot for not collaborating with. Ur concepts are what apple needs. Bhag.

  • This works through Overboard and Activator. Sorry for repeating.

  • USAiTunesGiftCards . COM Says it all !

  • Nice. I'm downloading it now!:)

  • Is that dock avaidable in cydia?

  • @nickbouwhuis Yes, it's called "Springboard Expose". It includes a theme for OverBoard as well as the custom dock.

  • This is already available and i enjoy it a lot! very useful

  • yess

  • Thats Bitchin

  • awesome

  • There's a jailbroken app that does this already it's called overboard in cydia

  • @bolis925 Yep, this concept has inspired two apps available through Cydia: Overboard and Orbit.

  • @bolis925 Sorry, I accidentally removed one of your comments :S

But to answer it... I don't think we will ever know if Apple has considered any of these changes in a future iPhone update. They are so secretive ;)

  • Very good idea.

  • Cool make it happen... And I'll let y'all have my fries...

  • This looks like a much better implementation than Orbit.

  • This is the concept that inspired the Orbit application. I assume that there were technical limitations that changed the way that application turned compared to the original concept.

  • true hope some day they make an update to put it where the spotlight search is

  • Yeah, its a bummer though, I would have loved the spotlight search and home button activation, still great though!

  • Mabe u can get orbit first then there is another app dat let's u double click to any app but i forgot wat it was called

  • If you have a jailbroken devise. There is an app in cydia called "Orbit" it cost $2 I belive but there is a way you can get it for free. But must be jailbroken.

  • no. i think what apple should do is just make that little dot bar at the bottom work the same way as the abcdefg list... just quick page flips without all the wonderment scrolling. but, at the same time, what is so hard about swiping your finger a few times? damn. that center button already has its uses accounted for.

  • Wow!

    Amazing vid!

    Nice idea

  • I like the idea of a Categories like app coming stock with the iPhone over this. With this, you still have to remember what apps are on each page. Categories, you just have folders for each type of app. Games, utilities, etc. This cuts down on the number of pages, too.

  • @airmanchairman: Our intention was to give you an overview of new notifications (red badges) on far away pages as well as making it easy to launch apps. Sometimes you just want to jump straight to page 5 and launch an app instead of using spotlight to search for it. For some apps you might not even remember the name, but you know that its on the last page etc. etc.

  • Get this out side i have seen jailbroken iPhone running these as if apple will run that but it would be awesome to have.Way better than ummmm.... what you call it ohh yeah spotlight search.

  • it always starts like this, users makes custom changes and apples sees what needs to be done.

    Great great great =)

  • Except of course you have no naming convention or a bad one, what would this do that Spotlight wouldn't do even more accurately to locate a particular app or shortcut?

The only thing going for this is "eye-candy", which would quickly wear off, consigning the feature to the fate suffered by so many short-lived apps as we have already seen so many times.

  • whoah, thats so awesome.

    I love ur ideas!

  • cool idea!

  • WOW !

I hope apple see's this, the iPhone definitly needs this option !

  • I would love to try that

  • Great concept!

  • Great idea. Would defiantly help people with lots of apps. I don't know about everyone else but I easily remember which apps are on which page.

  • Or you could just keep the phone better organized with less clutter

  • SWEET idea!!!

  • holy fuck balls. your vids are AMAZING!!

  • Yeah, I'd tap that...

  • hahahahah

  • Absolutely useless. You can't discern what icons are on a particular screens, so how is this going to help. It might as well just be big numbers when you're in expose mode, like

    "1 3 4 5 6 7 7 8 9"

  • It's more of a concept interface as opposed to a finished product. I'm pretty sure he's just suggesting the idea and not saying to copy it verbatim.

And honestly though you would have to be pretty oblivious to not understand that they go in numerical order from left to right, top to bottom. Just sayin tho *rolls eyes*

  • agree that you can't discern one screen for other but it 's relevant . Your solution is good, other possible thing is to use color indication (bar on top?) since the small icons will be not enough.

  • nice idea

  • that would be great

  • Look at the time! 1337

  • That stands for 1:37 :P

  • No it stands for LEET! As in 1337 Train!!1

  • COOL!!

  • It's handy when you want to move quickly to your last page, which, in my case, is number 10 - flipping through 10 pages is unconvenient. It would be nice if you could label each screen when in expose. This way I could move all my games on one page, tools on another and then select the appropiate page by a simple touch.

  • If you haven't unlocked your iPhone yet, there's a free program that does it for you named SoftUnlock. com

    It works.

  • When could this come out about???

  • 9 is nice, but i have all 11 full how are you going to handle that ?

  • For more than nine pages, the thumbnails could shrink even further in size. It would work the other way around as well. So if you have fewer pages, the thumbnails would be larger. But this being a concept, we used nine pages as it is more visually appealing.

  • Good to know, thnx

  • That's why my iPhone is jailbroken.

    Unlimited possibilities (and counting :))

  • Nice, good video, no use. Exposé on background apps would be fun, like the dancing cards on Xperia

  • Nice

  • As much as I like this idea it is not practical. Exposé works on the mac because you can see your windows clearly. Any person who says they can CLEARLY see those tiny icons whilst 9 home pages sit on the screen is just lying.

  • That's a valid point. But if you consider that this is not the full resolution, it's scaled to 80%, there would be additional detail in an actual implementation.

You might also imagine that if the number of springboard pages are less, the previews would increase in size.

And we believe that the patterns and colormaps that the icons create are enough to give you a visual cue to which page is which.

  • Only if the user arranges their icons properly would the screens provide a recognisable colour map and/or pattern.

Bigger previews would indeed help with this.

I can't help but feel that spotlight is a tad more functional than this. Though I also can't help but feel that having both techniques at our disposal would be better than just the one (like Mac OS X).

I love the forward thinking nature of this video though.

  • Thanks for the comments :)

    Stay tuned for more videos!

  • okay, I want it. STEVE!!!

  • That would be amazing!!!

  • You should work for apple, they need some inspiration

  • Sweet

  • Definitely something very useful. Keep it going!

  • Bingo; thats it; Implement it! We love it!

  • Pretty awesome concept. :)
