yeah i still play total annihilation online but only the original version of the game if you want to know how to get the game and play it online look at my video i made that shows you step by step. I mean the one released in 1997 and believe it or not people still play it online but only 100 or so. which surprises me because its got to be one of the best rts games on pc in that gen

@thebrain678 It's a great game but little time was given to multilayer balance. Some aspects of it are just broken. Like the superiority of a Moho-fab economy over going out and taking mass spots. The fact that some units are overpowered like the 'flash tank' and many are useless.

It's fun and sandboxy that every unit can take a shot at another but it does mean the game boils down to Hawk production after a time. I could go on and on....

i just got finished playing this game for like 6 hours straight CANT GET ENOUGH,

although i wish they'd make an updated version, with original graphics (cuz they're AWESOME) and just update some of the stuff... better AI, more options with stuff, AI that will ACTUALY BUILD on water levels and such... it'd be awesome

Hey, im having some issues with spring downloader. I don't know who to ask and its getting frustrating. Im not very good with computers, which could add to the problem. I have springlobby downloaded and installed but how do I download the mods? I cant seem to figure out how to get any of the 4 Total annihilation mods.

The only true sequel to TA is Supreme Commander. This video shows an open source game called TAspring. TA Spring is a versatile 3D engine with hundreds of mods, including 3D simulations of the original TA game. The game has a 1 player mode, but is designed mostly as an online multi-player game.

its just for spring, and so you dont actually need ota, possibly for some mods since i noticed that some in the error report said "failed to load ota files" but that could be since ota is simply in the core scripting of spring

I prefer OTA (with Core Contingency and Switeck's bugfix patch). The units in Spring don't scale that well in full 3D and it just feels weird...

Total Annihalation was already 3D. It was one of the first RTS games. But Spring does look better, because its much younger.

I've downloaded it...but it seems to have fairly bad graphics. The other mods that adds onto Spring (ie. Balanced Annihilation, Star Wars, etc) doesn't improve the graphics.

The maps and the mods are separate downloads, and the maps are up to 30mb each. There's only about a dozen maps anyone plays often though.

I kind of like the sup com interface over TA spring. But sup com just has too few units. Knda lame to make 3 races, that all do the same thing, at the expense of more units.

umm sort of TA spring is a mod of TA but you don't need the original to play you just need maps and a AI if you are playing by yourself

They are. They're completely different. Originally, Spring was designed to run content from the game Total Annihilation, but it's developed into something far beyond that now. There are any number of mods from Star Wars, to Final Frontier, Expand and Exterminate,Kernel Panic and Nanoblobs.

Spring owns. I've played them both and I'm a die hard TA fan. Spring was never intended to play like TA, and its a completely different game. Games - in fact. So many mods. And tbh, check out some of the other vids out there for Spring. The guy who was running this on his computer picked a crappy looking map, had his settings turned right down. It doesnt do it justice imo. Look at some of the more up to date stuff.
