Also, it would be very helpful if you could perhaps suggest another brand e.g. Sony or Panasonic that is the most basic model for getting the job done.
It's not about the dosh David , it's because I'm a complete klutz when it comes to technical things.
I've been audio recording old folk (my area of interest) for years - it's high time I advanced to video.

@KiaOra53 I like this camera PLUS and external microphone. Do not use mic in this camera - Lumix DMC ZS3
