I've read the book a few years ago,and as far as I'm aware this film portrays the two Jersey men in a different light, they both were true champions that toured America to promote the game, firstly with Harry Vardon's trip in 1900 in which he escalated the game and won the U.S Open on his first appearance,then with Ted Ray in1913 they again toured the states and were greeted well everywhere they went, so I hope this film does justice to the two pioneers.

If you watch the end credits it says Francis and Eddie were friends for life after this amazing triumph. The whole movie is inspiring and uplifting.
