and might I mention that any person who think all black people are the same are idiots. Is a White person from Italy the same as a white person from Russia? NO. Therefore Blacks is too much of a blanket term....a black person from America, a black person from the Dominican Republic, and a black person from Ethiopia are totally different in cultural values etc. Blanket terms are really dumb.
EVERY RACE makes racist comments therefore I don't agree with the comments that Black people are more racist than others. Maybe from that person's experience I don't know them so I have no idea what type of people they grew up around (I grew up around ALL races) but they have to remember that yea blacks do pull the race card sometimes for no reason but SOMETIMES IT IS for a valid reason. Come on people, we all know that slavery has left a massive impact on our country and how we treat eachother
So why does a video titled 'Please Do Not Make General Statements About A Race Of People' get so many comments that involve negative generalisations about differing ethnicities, countries and cultures?
When I was like 5 or 6,I heard the word racist for the first time and I literally thought it meant someone who loves to run in races lol. I remember saying I'm going to be the fastest racist when I grow up lol. To bad that's not what it really meant. Yup, wish the world was a more loving and understanding place.
Very true, people have mixed the words racist and prejudice to mean the same thing, usually because of their political views, which have been taken on by people who are ignorant.
people also use misuse the word race. because there is only one race and that's the human race. i realized that through what someone had pointed out to me therefore instead of me saying im of the black or native american race i say im of a different ethnicity to be more correct
Also another hypocritical view of blacks is the "one drop rule". It was created by racist white men to keep the white race "pure", yet they now claim that exact same view and think nothing wrong of it. Even your President Obama claims he is black, not bi-racial. He completely ignores the race of his own mother.
Oh, this person below me just reminded me of how hypocritical black people in general are. They claim there is "white privilege" yet, as they often point out whenever someone talks about blacks on welfare, they say that more white people are on welfare than blacks in America. Well... then where is this magical "white privilege" when so many white people are struggling on welfare?
@ScorpiusCentaurus Ohhh sweetheart. I must have pushed a button. They're are "white people" on welfare. What does that have to do with the white privilege america is built on? Hypocritical, huh?
@saraibewildered Well, if America is built on white privilege and more white people are on welfare than other other race, it stands to reason either white privilege is not what it it cracked up to be, or is not existent. Being the definition of "white privilege" means that all white people should benefit of it simply for being white, then why are so many white people clearly NOT benefiting from it. I don't think you even understand the term "hypocritical".
@ScorpiusCentaurus And by the way Scorpious, Those numbers are very misleading when the white population is the majority anyways by 70- 30 percent. I mean, of course that would make sense.
@saraibewildered To continue, we see it every day.. I mean, not that I care but a lot of things ARE appropriated by Europeans that came from ethnic and indigenous folk. No this isn't a damned contest of who created what. It is more so of an understanding of where this (what ever it is) came from.
@saraibewildered Music, hair, bastardizing symbols of the indigenous, modifications, and even what we as people can or can not wear in a certain field or even How we as black women can style our hair. Now, this fine line is tricky; I am not saying everyone is guilty as charged but, to deny that there isn't white privilege at all is absurd.
@saraibewildered But, i am getting off topic. I am trying to keep this constructive, and viewer friendly. it is NOT my M.O. to justify what this young lady on youtube has done. She is wrong, it is just my two cents here. :)
I don't know who you speak of, neither am I going against your beliefs because, I do agree with you to a certain extent. The definition of Racism you provided was needed because some racist folk, don't even know they are racist until they stand corrected. I applaud you for this video. I am not to be misconstrued with taking up for the laziness of certain races pulling the race card :)
YES, I hate the typecast over generalization of black people. Now, to say that there is a fair game-- no it isn't. As for the Race card that Black people pull, it's not just a card it is the truth, That truth being that white privilege and patriarchy being alive and relevant.
Wow. This was insane. As for what you said about the "fair game" and "race card". People are generally finnicky about race issues, I don't understand that because in order to get over this hump... Shouldn't we talk about it? I would have to disagree with the fair game comment.
@saraibewildered when i said fair game i meant thatin rgards to pulling the race card people i have dealt with pulled it euqllay it wasn't more of one race than the other...
Btw, with all the affirmative action laws around, the only institutionalized racism is against whites. I have personally experienced institutionalized racism just recently when I was unemployed. At one of the social services that help people find work, after describing my work experience I was told "too bad you're not indigenous, there are plenty of great jobs for indigenous at the moment". I'm missing out on "great jobs" because of my race.
Of course why you would want to use a racial slur is another story entirely. It takes a lot of discipline to not factor in race when someone of another race pisses you off. Say if an overweight person pushed in line at McDonald's, you would be thinking of plenty of adjectives with the word "fat" to describe him. The same goes with a race. A person of another race pushes in front of you, it is all too easy to bring his race into the adjectives you are thinking about him.
If you don't believe in racial supremacy/differences and use a racial slur agaist someone, does that still make you a racist? If a black person calls me a white devil or white trash am I justified in calling them a racist? Personally I believe you can use a racist slur and not be a racist. That is where most people are getting it wrong. That is why everyone calls everyone a racist these days, even if the other person doesn't hold racial views on supremacy or racial characteristics.
If someone calls a person of another race a racist name, does that automatically make them a racist? Or does it simply mean that they used a racist name? In today's society just what does it take to be a racist? If a black guy steals my phone and I refer to him as a "nigger" while recounting the story to a friend, does that make me a racist? Am I justified to use that insult when describing someone who robbed me?
As for the definition of racism, people have many different views on what that is. There is a growing number of black people I've seen here on youtube who say that only white people can be racist. They say that everyone can be prejudiced but only whites are racist because racism is an institutionalized power over another race. This is obviously not the definition of racism. It seems everyone has there own opinion on what racism means.
An example of playing the race card... Halle Berry accused her babies daddy of being a racist after they split up. Really? As if he just suddenly developed a racist personality and racist views... more likely she was bitter and angry at him and so calling him a racist is the easiest way to attack a white person because it is a label that is very hard to defend, especially when it's a black person calling you it.
Americans as a whole are fixated with race however black America seems to take that fixation to a whole new level. And this fixation/obsession with race makes in my opinion black people more racist and prejudiced than any other racial/ethnic group. I find Black Americans have a strong victim mentality, and so whether rightly so or not, they tend to always place the race card. I'm generalizing in my statements, so don't think I didn't miss your point about speaking about an entire people. : P
@ScorpiusCentaurus well how about your whole race be punished for nothing for 200 years and see if you don't have a "victim mentality" and we are still persecuted today! i have mexican and white friends who say their parents wont date black people and somehow we're more racist!? stop being nieve scorpius
@pocket1 You are NOT persecuted today. You have no right to a victim mentality. You don't know what it is like to be legally discriminated against because of affirmative action. You don't know what it is like to be in fear for your life because of the colour of your skin. White people do. You can walk in any all white neighbourhood in America and more than likely not be accosted or threatened, yet a white person walking in an all black neighbourhood has a very real chance of being attacked.
Well, here, in America...it works both ways. There's always fear when going into certain neighborhoods, regardless of the demography. That's just life. You clearly don't live in the US, and even if you did, you haven't lived in every neighborhood. Please don't assume you know what life is like for everyone here...
@ScorpiusCentaurus and that statement alone says it all. That is the most idiotic statement i have ever heard, soo i'm done with you. I know going back and forth with you won't be worth anything because you clearly have no knowlege or understanding of racism towards african americans...well because your not one. >_> but even then there are white people that do know...you're just ignorant.
@ScorpiusCentaurus also your excuse is the same excuse for racism to even begin in america. The fear index of the slave owners was extremely high, making them want to keep slavery for only blacks. You do know this is one of the reasons for the start of the civil war. Whites fear of nothing >_> and we are the brunt of your fear...when man fears someting he attacks it or tries to kill it, and that's what blacks suffer from on a daily basis from other races not just white
@ScorpiusCentaurus your argument is invalid and based on fear...i suggest you take a real look at racism in america again. Do you know or have any african american people in your life scorpius?
@pocket1 You are the perfect example of victim mentality I was talking about by black Americans. All you do is bury your head in the sand and refuse to see the truth because it doesn't fit into your little bs reality. "whites fear of nothing"... check the crime stats on race violence. It is overwhelmingly black on white. black on Asian. Black on Hispanic. And you have the nerve to act like your a victim.
@pocket1 All people like you can do is keep bringing up the past decades. I'm betting NO white person has EVER put a hand on you. NO white person has ever threatened you with violence. So stop bringing up what may or may not have happened to your ancestors when none of that has happened to you.
@ScorpiusCentaurus actually they have scorpius...my school was a very racist school and i got into a fight with a white girl because she called me a nigger and said she would shoot me and i had done nothing to this girl...also a boy was stabbed by these same racist whites...i'm not saying all whites are racist but i am saying it's still alive and well and practiced...Also i said whites are afraid based on their fear index i just said that so clearly your not reading.
@pocket1 If wikipedia was not in a blackout atm, I'd be able to find out just what "fear index" means. Well, I'm sorry to hear about the fight you got into with these white people. It sounds like a rare/extreme case to me. I'm sure you can find plenty of incidents similar to that other black people have gone through if you search long enough, I never denied they don't go both ways. I sure can find plenty of racial incidents that whites have gone through at the hands of blacks.
@ScorpiusCentaurus also about the crime rates have you ever asked yourself why that is? really and truely..and you still didn't answer my question. DO YOU HAVE ANY AFRICAN AMERICANS IN YOUR PERSONAL LIFE?
@pocket1 Plenty of reasons why black attacks on other races happen. Racism and intolerance is the number one reason. But I'm sure you and other some black people with their victimization mentality will say otherwise. It's always someone else's fault. They commit rape, it's the white mans fault. They murder, it's the white man's fault. They bash and rob, it's the white man's fault. And no, I don't personally know any African Americans. But I see plenty of them through social media every day.
@ScorpiusCentaurus no you didn't i asked if you had any african american people in your personal life. You seguyed past that question to ramble but ok.
