I believe that Eve lost 7% of it's subscribers base, causing 20% of CCP's staff - mainly being community staff - to lose their jobs.

CCP have really turned the situation around, releasing a patch which few other games of any sort are able to rival.

Personally, I'd like to see all those who unsubscribed to join the game again, and thus provide CCP with the ability to give some of their staff their jobs back.

On the topic of Eve after those events CCP released the Crucible expansion that has helped focus on things the current player base wants rather than crying out for new subs and testing features for another game entirely. I hope CCP continue to improve space gameplay but I can't deny the multiplayer station enviroment with player owned establishments would help keep new players interested if it is done slowly alongside the playerbase's interests.

@ArrowNin SWTOR is pretty much exactly KOTOR 3. It's a single player story driven RPG with very very little multi-player content tacked on in order to justify charging a monthly sub fee. I think the thing that a lot of people are pissed about (myself included) is that it isn't SW:Galaxies 2, it is WoW in space... And not even WoW when it was good, it is WoW as it is now, but in space. With how much time and money that was put into the project, this garbage is a slap in the face to the fans.

@Arealdruid Give it time. It took several months, if not a year or two for WoW to reach a "good" level.

As a player of SWTOR, I didn't even realize players were hoping it would be KOTOR 3 or SW Galaxies 2. Bioware said it was a brand new game, so I saw it as a brand new game, and as a brand new game, I think it is very good.

Besides, I'm sure if they wanted to make a SW Galaxies 2, they would of called it SW Galaxies 2, or at the very least market it as the next SW Galaxies.

The beta right now is extremely NDA'd and overall we gave pretty much no new info. There was very little negative comments about SWTOR as well, but now look at it. Btw in EvE you said that players can walk in ships , in fact you can only walk in stations ! :(

If it was walking in ships it would be MUCH better received , since EVE is game all about ships and space combat , station interiors are just fail and waste of resources on CCP part , especially since they are singleplayer :)

@stormscion I disagree, when you're in your ship you are attached to your pod and then your ship's mainframe, being able to walk around your actual ship would be lore-fail and would not work. Correct on it being station environments you can walk around in though.

@Srslypo That is true , however capsulier technology does not imply that you cant leave the pod and wonder around the ship. Also all ships in the game are made to be used for conventional fleets as well afaik.

In fact majority of fleets in EVE lore are conventional fleets with crews and captains , capsulieers are elite forces.

So it would easily fit into the lore.

No matter what it would have been better then being stuck in station prison.

@Vayshen I agree this was known to the people who raided in vanilla, but the number that did paled in comparison to the subs WoW picked up during Wrath. So, while I agree that we "knew he was coming back," having two patches back-to-back that carried headlining content that was not 100% original made WoW look, to the general non-hardcore-raiding population, like Blizzard was running out of ideas. In no way was it a deal breaker, of course, but it certainly deserved a mention on this list.
