  • This is such a Great Song and I will always Cherish it and the Memories of his Life!!!

  • Best Of Country Music Johnny Paycheck was a Great showman, singer and songwriter Lost One of The Greatest!!!

  • I have always thought George Jones was the only singer who had the feeling the heart and the emotion to sing a song just the right way.

I realized some time ago that Johnny Paycheck can do that too, and when on stage it happens so naturally, there are many singers who have lived a lot of life with the ups and some big downs, but only a tiny number can sing from the heart from those lessons of life.

George and Johnny, I can think of no others that breathes life into a song in this way.

  • great song

  • "The truth is the hardest thing I ever faced-cause you can't change the truth in the slightest way" - so true!

  • the man was awesome .......he lived the life....did the time..........and was still great right up to the end...thanks for posting this video of a classic performance

  • There will NEVER be another like Johnny Paycheck... EVER!!

  • No one better than Paycheck on this wonderful number...he was a friend who is often and sadly missed by those of us who had the priviledge of knowing him...Thanks for sharing this great memory.

  • Johnny has the Soul of the Southland in the palm of his hand. Good lord this good Ol Country Boy has feeling.

  • One of the great's in country music!!!

Singers like John come once in a life time

  • jhonny may god let you become his new creation in the new world to come amen

  • I have two albums of Johnny's hits - all of his songs are hits though I feel. This song says so much. He could sing a ballad like no other could do. If I had to pick a favorite of his I would choose "For A Minute There". His novelty songs are good - fun - and different and I do enjoy those, too. He was quite a unique talent - his style and voice unmatched. Thank you for posting this winner. - Paula

  • Johnny Paycheck was one of many that never got the respect that he deserved.

All of our real Country singers are passing away, It is sad....But thank God we have

all of the ways to preserve their music. R.I.P Johnny.

  • god this guy could sing Miss ya Johnny

  • one of his finest performances..RIP, old picker

  • What year is this??

  • Tremendous....the guy lived hard....but his vocal range even at this stage in life was flawless.

  • this man is the best yall ever hear besides hank williamms iii

  • how can we respond to something like that. That song is so Sad and it breaks my heart. That turned to be so true. Johnny got straighted out and not long after we long him. I don't know how we can miss people we do not know but I grew up with all the legends like someone said,Almost all gone. and it breaks my heart. what will happen when allen jackson and a few of the other ones who love real Country Music. Will it Pass Too. ? almost has. Thanks Johnny for all the tunes you left us.

  • I was once locked up with johnny and he was the real deal! I heard old violin live and he said it was his favorite and that he never recorded it!

    SIC

  • you hear johnny paycheck , your hearing the soul of country music.

  • Johnny never got what he deserved. How could any one not love that man. Even though im 16 years old and a "guy" i can still say i love Johnny for his songs and incredibly nice voice. No one can do what he did ever again.

May he keep on sing and be the same person he was in this life as in the life after this.

May you rest in peace Johnny!

  • he wrote this1 in jail.

  • GOD BLESS JOHNNY PAYCHECK

  • This is one of the greatest songs ever written and is delivered from the soul of Johnny. Listen very carefully to the words and think about the message. Rest in Peace John.

  • One of the prettiest songs by one of the greats of country music. This is a classic and treasured performance.

  • God Bless You for this upload. It still brings tears to my eyes and a BIG lump in my throat. Sadly none of the newer artists don't know and/or care about the likes of Paycheck, Charley Pride, The Hag, Buck Owens, Jim Reeves and other legends

  • Yup, your right. Oh, there some good artist out there, but none that can have anywhere near the older folks you mentioned.

  • I would like to find the complete album that this song is on. Another tearjerker song on this album is called Butterflies And Babies

  • I want this song played at my farewell party

  • Another legend that should be in the Country Hall of Fame ! (instead of people like Vince Gill)

  • Beautiful, simply beautiful.

  • Thank you .

  • he was a master , the real deal, RIP John

  • Another great song by a country legend. Thanks Johnny Paycheck for all your songs.R.I.P

    Thanks for the post.

  • Another great singer who I think got better as he aged. Nice post thanks!

  • simply fantastic, thanks..

  • One of the greatest voices ever. Haunting and beautiful.

  • What a great song by one of country musics great artist.

  • God i miss him so much. i would give anything to have him back.. Makes me cry everytime i see him.. I miss you John love you...

  • SAD but the ones who could sing are almost all gone. THESE new singers today don't have any talent.

  • thank you for sayin it. and my new generation does not know good music anymore...thats sad

  • @GetRhythm125 i don't think it's talent they don't have,i think it's soul.

  • @toonful Just so true. They can sing. But not with emotions and go in to the text and "be it" I can't explain it better than that.

Johnny had also experienced what he sang about so he put alot of emotions in to it.

    RIP JOHNNY

  • @GetRhythm125 Sad but true... Gosh ... the newbies just don't know what they have missed... Check out this guy Billy Don Burns... he traveled with Johnny Paycheck early on... he also has a My Space Page...

  • @GetRhythm125 Man,I've wanted this clip for years. . . . . . this is one of my all-time favorites. . . . . may God rest his soul. . . . . .

  • @GetRhythm125 Try Jamey Johnson to me his a throw back to the original kings of country he writes and sings his own songs.

  • @sdamw8 I'm not a fan of the newer acts by any stretch of the imagination...but Jamey....is one of the few exceptions.

  • @sdamw8 yeah, jamey is the closest we'll ever get to waylon again.

  • @GetRhythm125 You said it, very few have any connection to real fans of country, or any experiences to sing about. Thus you end up with Taylor Swift butching country radio.

  • @GetRhythm125 And one year on since you posted your comment I dont see any improvement in the new so called country singers. Taylor Swift on the opry stage ??? are they just having a laugh or what .

  • @GetRhythm125 Man, You got that right, Were putting up as many older country songson Facebook as we can,It Can Not die,

  • @donrd1223 In keeping with your comment "It Can Not die", check out David Johnson's rendition in "leona 111000's postings and let me know what you think. He is a BIG Paycheck fan and worked this version up as a kind of tribute to the Great Johnny Paycheck. I hope you like it, many locals do.

  • @GetRhythm125 Man you said it.... I am country to the bone, but there are only a handful (and I mean a handful) of today's artists that keep it traditional. I don't listen to the radio much anymore just because of that. The one's that are not trying to sound like pop or whatever they want to call it anymore I just by their CD's or listen to them and then change the station.... Really sucks.... Need more traditional and older country and western music stations.

  • @GetRhythm125 It's not that they don't have talent, many of them do. It's just that music has changed, and sadly... not for the better, and I just don't mean country music.

  • @GetRhythm125 amen brother

  • What makes it more appealing and touching, is if you closely study his expressions/eyes, he is not just singing a song, he is telling you what he is presently feeling and what he believes he is now facing in his life. This song is so great because with just a change in the lyrics of what you have given your life to or have done, the song is a one-fits-all.

  • Wow!!! Has To Be The Best Country Ballad EVER!!!!!!!!!!! RIP My Friend You For Sure Will Be Missed By All Of Us....... :-( :-(

  • Amazing song, wish there was more music out there like this.

  • I absolutely love this song, one of my all time favorite songs and definitely my favorite Paycheck song. This song just gets all on your heart...

  • This is one awesome song. Much better than the crap you hear on country radio today.

  • Donny Young a.k.a Johnny paycheck was one the singer that were over looked for so many years due to his past. I would bet there are ppl saying damn i wish had signed him to a record deal

  • This perfomance just gave me a whole new respect for Johnny Paycheck. I'm tingling all over and all I can really say is SON-OF-A-GUN!

  • This is one of my all time favorite songs.

  • who could carry this man's guitar case

  • A magical musical moment. I don't think he was EVER in better voice.

  • It's hard to fight back the tears to this song. His voice was great!!

  • Great Great RIP my Friend no one can close you nailed it

  • awesome

  • i love this song .. don't know why but i feel very sad half way into this song. will keep playing it till my violin has to be put away and played no more....... man i love johnny paycheck.

  • He has no equal doing this song!!
