@Fdzzaigl You just need to go with the flow and learn how the game works. If your so angry about it, just restart and this time take it slow. This way you can get the side quests and other dungeons. For ms, I hear the Fallen sidequest is really hard and the boss is like the Demigod. I saved before entering Underwalt into another slot so I could go back if I wanted. Anyway, enjoy the game a little more.
Such a shame this game didn't get as much attention as it deserved. True i had so many rage moments but i loved it when i finially finished it and got this song and scene.
the ending has always made me wonder are they going to make a sequel
the part at the end where rush and the conqueror (is that his name i can't remember) are talking and rush says "I'm going back down they're waiting for me" well something like that it has been about 2/3 years since i completed it/last played it
@Fdzzaigl What are you talking about? This game is awesome! The storyline is well-crafted and doesn't confine you, the characters are just plain cool, and the crafting and gameplay all makes perfect sense, but is complicated enough that it doesn't get boring. As for the sidequests, they are easy enough to research, and thus avoid missing them. This soundtrack would be great if it weren't for the lyrics.
@drkitten7 Sorry but I disagree. The storyline is a big fat JRPG cliché imho (just look at all the similar games about saving princesses / sisters) with very forgettable characters who behave as though you "Still don't get it!" while the whole plot is obvious from the title alone.
Combat is random, you can't deny that. For example: you randomly lack the option to heal in some turns.
If you need to research sidequests in order not to miss significant portions of the game something is wrong imo.
@Fdzzaigl Sure, the surface plot is about saving the main character's sister, but the real point of the story is the politics of the world around you - plus, unlike most RPGs, the main story does not force you to adhere to it, but allows you to complete it on your own time. Also, rather than the standard "Well, the main character is bearable and there's one or two other people on my team that I like, but I hate everyone else", all the characters that you get are interesting and unique.
@Fdzzaigl Also, I can't see how anyone could have problems with the combat system of Last Remnant. You talk about sometimes missing the option to heal, but that only happens when you've been doing to many high AP attacks and have run out. The enormous variation of techniques makes it so the combat never gets boring, and - most importantly - the AI is actually intelligent to the point where they won't use the first level of a technique if they have the last one in their inventory.
@drkitten7 I'm afraid we'll have to agree to disagree. I did not feel like the characters were deep at all, as you often lack the opportunity to converse with them in a meaningful way and do not get to make choices on where to take them, they are one-dimensional and do not change much at all over the course of time.
As for AP, this is not the case, when I played the game (mind you, that was a year ago) you randomly did not get abilities, even if you had the required AP.
@Fdzzaigl And finally, all that the disappearing sidequests mean is that you need to complete them when they first appear. What's the problem with that? As long as you're careful, and check around before rushing on with the storyline, you won't miss anything.
@drkitten7 As for sidequests, I'm sorry but you shouldn't be expected to research them on forums in order not to miss out on stuff.
For example, in my case, I found out about 10 hours after the fact that I had progressed too quickly, causing me to be unable to enter one of the highest end dungeons in the game later on.
I sadly did not have a required save to correct this and probably couldn't be bothered anyhow to backtrack 10 hours in order to do so.
@Fdzzaigl Every game has problems. Last Remnant is no exception, but it's problems are minimal and easily overcome. I haven't experienced any of the difficulties that you mention. What is this dungeon that you couldn't enter? In any case, we've both made our cases, so it's pointless to continue the discussion, but let me just say this: just because you didn't like it does not make it a bad game.
A silence from creation's womb Contributes to the sense of gloom The plight of sentient beings Belies the good Within each one of you A universe awaits its birth Alas your sleeping souls Still stumble on your roads of rage Sorrow, no more Erase your lust for war I know your truth Your destiny's cure Forbid your sins To live again in time Noble, righteous hearts could shine!
@Unraveling702 Im sure it was an attempt to make the game more challenging for you but it went too challenging... at some point alot of people who had PC had to switch to cheating... while those on XBOX got stuck forever.... or just quit out of rage.
Im angry at it since i didnt talk to duke ghor after all the bases...im not sure if i can still do quest...but im angry. Still playing it though and loving it!
Take it up with youtube and its terrible reply feature. Look at our messages right now in fact, we're replying to eachother, and yet our messages appear at the top of the screen, not beneath and tabbed.
Nobuo had zero affiliation with the last remnant in any way shape or form. The only way you could relate the two is the fact that nobuo is in the same band (black mages) as Tsuyoshi.
You're right, there is no Final Fantasy XIV. The PS3 host at E3 2009 totally just made it up and spent a lot of money making a long, high quality fake trailer to show millions of people in order to.....piss them off?
Who knows man, I looked at a trailer and I was like... there no point... i mean like they are already making XIII and THAT hasn't come out yet, and making another XI is boring to me... -.-
What people need to understand is that when a company makes something, it doesn't necessarily mean ALL the same people worked on it. It's split up into groups. There's a ff13 team and a ff14 team, with some obvious overlaps.
It's just like blizzard. The team that made starcraft isn't necessarily the team that made world of warcraft.

Still reckon it should be made into an animated series/movie.

Hello! Do you know if there is a instrumental/karaoke version of THIS song???
Greets, Neko-chan

A very nice soundtrack for a rather crappy game imo.
Bad storyline, random combat, grind, insane crafting components, quests that lock you out of certain areas without notice etc.
Though nice graphics and the combat is fun when it actually works.
