  • MAN U ARE A FUCKING BESTTTT !!!! LOL

  • Dafuq did I just listen to? 0.o

  • OMG!!!!! I can't believe my eyes/ears. I mean, seriously, if Frank Zappa would still be alive and making music, you would be his first choice. Brilliant drumming, loved every single minute of it ;)

  • I'd love to see the drum audio by itself for this track. If possible you should upload that! Great work. TRX just contacted me too, are they reasonably priced? I love the sound and Soultone isn't cuttin it for me... they haven't held up their end of the deal at all unfortunately!

  • everything about this from the feel to the technical aspects makes me aspire to greatness. thanks for posting these videos! been a great help with my technique

  • Damn just learning that intro would take me some time. Think I found a new challenge for myself..

  • 5:01 gets me every time hahhahah

  • what drum do u have?¿

  • I cannot get over how absolutely insane this music is! I love how you incorperate the open close hi hat into the beat, and the sound of the song. Whenever someone mentions perfection, this video comes to mind. Cannot get any better. You are a legend Mr Orbin. And will be one of the greats.

  • @fregodrum Thank you kindly!

  • From 2:10 - 2:24 you can watch his right forearm have a spaz attack, haha

  • FUCK, this dude is SICK.

  • I watched the entire video at 1/4 speed and it didn't make any more sense.

  • Nail this song = Own the world

  • 3:12 UPPERCUT

  • God damn, Pete is the king of underground prog.

  • What drums do you play?

  • 9 people got squashed

  • 1:35

    check out the chine moving....edited?

  • @ofirharlev it is a recording session so he has the right to edit the track. it is not a live concert, so every single note has to be played perfectly you know? and this edited version is just perfect.

  • 2:12 Ha The China.. It Moves o-O

  • Isn't there some other dude named Travis who plays drums?

  • 3:12 "like a boss"

  • The upstroke at 3:13 was great to me. Don't quite know why...

  • LEGENDARY

  • @lifejones27 I, I’m just a bug I know it’s true

Only a bug but then again so are you

But we are still part of the universe

    We’re flying around

    Building walls in our towns

    Hardly know anything

That we could, that we should

But it feels so good everyday

We don’t live that long anyway

  • Holy..shit

  • Does anyone else get PUMPED THE FUCK UP when he hits the china cymbal upwards? 3:11 BOWWWWW

  • i quit

  • i'm pretty he literally surpasses the speed of light around 3:05

  • After reading the lyrics, the last two minutes brought tears to my eyes.

  • THIS IS BRILLIANT!!! Are those the limited edition birch/walnut mapex saturn floor toms? What are the heads on these drums, I want this sound... Have the mapex set, clear emperors on toms, coasted ambassador on snare, powerstroke on bass. Anyone used the Black Suede or Black X heads?

  • Comment removed

  • i love the versatility with the trx cymbals, they sound great for a huge beating, but on the other hand, when you were doing the softer part in the middle of the song and just hitting them softly, they also sounded great. how did you get onto them

  • @LilGrimmy54 They approached me a few years ago.

  • One of my goals in life is to nail this song on the drums.

  • i see a remo head on the floor !!!

  • Wow?

  • I never noticed before, but just burst out laughing, at 0:38 Travis mouths the "Ooh yeah" in the song and it's actually hilarious!

  • @Mp5Drummer hahah

  • A part of me likes to believe that travis orbin is a robot.

  • omg 2:43

  • Hey Travis, kickass video sir! I was wondering, is that the 6.5x14 Pearl Reference Brass you're using? If so, how do you like it? I've been thinking about getting one since I hear they're loud as can be but still have a lot of tone.

  • Hardest track on drums (ever)?

  • 2:10 - 3:25. Enough said!

  • This is awesome! Reminds me a bit of Mr. Bungle.

  • this reminds me of BTBAM :P

    btw AWESOME!!!

  • wow ,whattz thatt vour sick stufff?

  • @NapoleanXV 1) You called them double cymbals so you obviously don't drum (either that or you are just unfathomably stupid). 2) Real musicians can read music, something that you probably cannot do (since we have already established that you either don't drum or are incredibly thick). 3) You couldn't play this if you were stuck on an island for a month with this song on repeat and the drum kit that you pretend to own.

  • @skiddlecrumms There's no such thing as drums. You so silly.

  • @skiddlecrumms I completely agree with you on 1 and 3. But 2 aggravated me to the point where I had to reply and put: That is a very misleading and stupid thing to say. Neither me, my dad, or most of my friends can read sheet music, yet are all 'real' musicians and are able to play various types of music with accuracy and feeling. Unless, you have a different definition of 'real musician'?

  • @MrDjohnt then maybe "real" wasn't the best word. "Learned" would be better. You can be good and accomplished without it, but to be great, it is something you need to know.

  • im totally buying this on iTunes!

  • @NapoleanXV You'll find that most of if not all professional musicians will HAVE to read sheet music. If you cant read you wont get any jobs that require you to play exactly whats wanted. Unless your someone like for example Vinnie colaiuta who got payed by sting to write a score for some of his albums. Listen to "Seven Days" By sting. That song is a masterpiece with vinnie on drums.

  • @zilgrerem not talking about this video i'm sure...

  • @NapoleanXV you're entire statement makes me 'lol'. get real. grow up. fuck off.

  • @inimicalODDITY my friend be trolling you. This is good reason not to stay log in on someone else's computer, and not to jump to conclusions regarding comments. especially when they're pretty obviously trolling.

  • @NapoleanXV you're right. it's all my fault.

  • @inimicalODDITY how could you!

  • @NapoleanXV Obvious troll is obvious, but listen to the music to see why he uses 2 pairs of hats, and then you try learning this and then recording it in a few days without sheet music.

  • god when ever i come to your channel to see the new vids i always have to watch this one again and again, this one is definitely up there with your most intricate playing. mind blowing really, this is beyond comprehension for me haha

  • does anyone else also want the drug from Limitless to learn this?

  • @jacksdrumshop hahah totaly :D

  • Travis, you are absolutely my inspiration for anything percussion. You have such a unique style that takes the whole idea of drumset and throws it out the window. You are hands down my hero and will always look up to you, musically. Thanks for everything you've done.

  • Dude you got skills. Are you reading a chart or an outline?

  • are you real?

  • I am convinced that you are a fucking robot. No man can do what you do in these videos.

You are my idol and my saviour. I worship you!!

    Lord bless!

  • It`s incredible how bad you can make me feel about my own percussion progress within 5 minutes.

great drumming, keep it up !

  • which snare head is used in this vid?

  • 7 people disliked because you hit the china backwards :(

  • at 0:59 the china turned and scared me xD

  • can i be your slave?

  • your fulcrum placement is unusually high up on the stick. interesting.

  • sooooo amazing... please do an area fifty done play through pleeaaaaasssee!!

  • I meant 1:18. Watch the china and crash turn a little bit, and his head moves. LOUL.

  • Keep playing 0:18 over and over. I never noticed that he spliced these videos together.

  • Nice drumming!

  • i literally shit my pants watching this.

  • 2:10 - 2:45 must have been a nightmare to get down....

  • What size sticks do you use, Travis?

    Also: Incredible song, epic playing

  • Comment removed

  • Can't get enough of this. It's freakin insane!

  • yeah, if you could come do a clinic at PASIC it would be the most awesome thing ever.

  • JEEEEEEEEEEEEEZES! Wild music! Awesome travis!

  • haha, the upstroke china hit is perfect.

  • At first I thought this was really cool drumming over nonsense. But hell that composer is talented.

  • is that the recently released pearl MCA bubinga kit?

  • Comment removed

  • this song is wild! nice work man \m/

  • 2:40 the guitar solo has panzerballet in it!

  • Everyone go to Drum Channel's website, click "contact" at the bottom, and ask Drum Channel to invite Travis Orbin for an interview/jam with Bozzio!

  • For some reason I see you drumming for Mr Bungle or Fantomas :p

  • You've blended it so perfectly together, can't even notice, that it's made of several videos without a closer look. Sick playing!! (y)

  • This kicks the hell out of anything dream theater. anything prog metal/rock for that matter!

Thank you so much for your inspiration. I have a new priority in life. Become as talented on the drums as you are!

  • ///holy SHIT. This song is awesome and I don't know how the hell you do what you do. I need to practice more.

  • When I looked at the transcription i noticed that it's far different to what I'm accustomed to, I'm assuming its something to do with american drum notation being different. can anyone give a quick run down of the numbers?

  • @rustyiscoolbeans It's not that different from a traditional notation. You just pretty much replace the notes with numbers: 35=Bass 40=Snare 43&45=Toms 42/46=Closed/Open Hi-hat 44=Pedal Hi-hat 51=Ride 53=Ride bell 49&57=Crashes 52=China 55=Splash
  • woah, this is so awesome.

  • This is the rejected theme song for Disney/Pixar's A Bug's Life.

  • hey man i just wanted to say i really dig the stuff your doing. as a third year percussion major i was on the verge of getting burned out. watching this stuff inspired me to get back in the practice room. i really appreciate it man!

  • 3:12

That china hit is so fucking cool

  • I posted a link to this masterpiece to the UK magazine Rhythm and they printed it! I hope it gave you some publicity, cause people NEED to hear this. Bloody good work.

  • I applaud you sir. Sterling work!

  • Why the hell, when I search for "Travis" on youtube I don't find you? Gotta fix that glitch somehow, hehe. Epic playing, thanks for uploading!

  • You should try (well probably not try) playing Blotted Science

  • its like john zorn, king crimson, meshuggah, and alice in chains just made a song..and pow this is it

  • haha way to add the visuals at 3:12. i love it man.

  • Are there only tabs for it? No ordinary sheet? :)

  • I'd be afraid of breaking a stick thus ending the take on an upside down china hit like that at 3:12, but maybe it's just me

  • HOLY SHIT YOU CAN'T PLAY THAT! I'M JUST IMAGINING YOU!

that's probably the most unique track i've heard, so good

  • 3:12 that china hit made you the most bad ass person ever

  • @TheBigAP13 you think that was bad ass? you should check out nick pierce dude look at the video titled, nick pierce metal improv solo and check out 1:40. watch the whole thing but check out 1:40 for pure bad assery

  • @thecravenator42069 yea, Travis and Thomas twittered each other back and forth about it, travis giving his thanks.

  • Comment removed

  • This has BTBAM written all over it.... =) I love this!

  • Dude you're a fucking alien, that's what it is

  • @StrawBump Hey, I found what that dude was talking about, hehe. It's on Thomas Pridgen's facebook. He's puts a lot of stuff up so it's like way down his wall.

  • @thecravenator42069 What, really?

  • most amazing drummer i have ever seen in my life. i love your work with all my heart and can't even comprehend some of the parts in this composition. much love Mr. Orbin.

  • captn beefheart + psyopus = This.

    wonderful.

  • BTBAM comes to mind. In a good way.

  • thank you for posting. where can i buy this cd? (I checked amazon and there is nothing on pete up there)

  • Amazing.

  • WHY ARE YOU SO GOOD!!!! 5 stars mate

  • I gotta say it..... mr. bungle influence? especially the end. reminds me of merry go bye bye. Really good.

  • Hey Travis! What are those three notes in front of you? They don't look like sheet music..

  • Love your snare sound and amazing playing Travis. What drum and which batter head are you using? Looks like a Pearl Reference 6.5x14 steel? What type of tuning is it?

  • 3:13.. right hand. BOOM

  • i asked Pete if he would ever do any touring and he said he was hoping he could in 2011, would you be interested in that kind of arrangement?

  • That was the most insane thing I have ever witnessed performed on a drum set.

  • OH MY GOOOOOOD^^ this is sooo crank...... i love it ;D

  • 3:57 is video edit

  • WOOW! amazing playing! :)

  • Another thing i realised, at the start of the tempo change section at the end, it says "Any last words? Bitch." Gotta love that pete peterson.

  • WOW what happened at 1:20

  • I think i just noticed, but is that your touring bass drum?

  • @Varydrummer14 Good eye! Indeed.

  • @Varydrummer14 Woah! I just noticed that too.

  • @Varydrummer14

    Wow.

That is crazy you noticed that.

Right when I saw your comment I noticed haha.

  • @theflawedspecies Yeah, basically, i had it on wide screen, and i saw the stripe, and that was tat :P

  • I'm starting to think that jug of yours on the bottom right is just pure liquid crack.

  • @vicfirthdrummer95 Haha -- it's not my jug.

  • @shaftninja but is it pure liquid crack?

  • @vicfirthdrummer95 Correction. Drumming in a jug.

  • Oh yes Mr. Orbinator, you should audition for Dream Theater, if they aren't already headhunting you.

  • are you ambidextrous?

  • WHAT IS THIS SONG CALLED PLEASE SOMEONE FUCKING TELL ME

  • @SH33NANDPH33L bugz

  • @SH33NANDPH33L I'd say it's called "Bugz" by Peter Peterson :D

  • This is honestly one of the most well written songs i've ever heard

  • my mind is blown.

  • reminds me a little of zappa

  • By chance, is the Part Two played on "Cliff Driver"?

I'd love to see that. If it happens to be a brand new song, looking forward to listening to it anyway but Cliff Driver is a monster of feeling, groove and heaviness.

Pete Peterson is the heir of the artistic visions of Devin Townsend, Frank Zappa, Mike Patton... with an incredible drummer such as you... wow...

  • Comment removed

  • How did you get your snare to sound so good?

  • @0:49-1:06

    *snaps fingers... blast snap fingers*

  • i song, 15 gazillion genres. love it

and somehow only 4 limbs are playing it... incredible lol

  • Big btbam influence in this composition

  • i am truely an open minded person, but i think this is too much for me hahaha love travis though :D

  • Awesome song and wonderful playing!

  • Wonderful song and awesome playing!

  • can't wait for part two...

  • I think Pete is more influenced by the likes of Mike Patton, Frank Zappa, Devin Townsend and Frederik Thordendals Special Defects than he is BTBAM. I think his stuff is way better than BTBAM and the like, and i wish he'd actually get his name out there a bit more!

  • that uppercut at 3:13 is fucking great!! haha

  • awesome! wich drumset is it?

  • Anyine else hear some BTBAM influence in this?

  • @TheBigAP13 The last part of the song is really BTBAM esque when they do softer parts of songs.

  • Man you are breath taking. I am going to practice even harder than normal because you have totally inspired me. Thank you.

  • this song is so sick it just made me puke

  • Pete Peterson EP is NECESSARY. Bring it on.

  • its drumming and music writing like this that compensate for a lot of the shit coming up on the "charts" of today

    keep it goin man :)

  • Did anyone keep playing the cymbal hit at 3:07 over and over like I did?
