I'll go to Nepal in march 2012. I hope I can climb one of those mesmerizing trekking peaks after a couple of weeks of acclimatization in the Solo Khumbu area.
Btw, I've noticed you've also been to Mera Peak. I'd like to ask which one do you recommend between IP and Mera ? Also, did you have to buy two climbing permits to climb IP and Mera in a row ?

Cracking video again richard just like your mera peak one. On this one I have to disagree with you when you say at 8mins 12 secs, that the camera footage "doesnt quite bring out the steepness really" Cos from where Im sat Richard it looks steep enough. :) Thanks for taking the time to upload your videos big fella, really informative
@flix1kulot Thanks. My camera is a little handheld Panasonic HDC-SD10. But yeah, I like the look of the GoPro helmet cams, I reckon you'd get some great footage of climbing/abseiling/etc.
@flix1kulot I trekked and climbed alone, however, I did get a local company to arrange the permit for me, I think that's the norm. The climbing permit was US$400 (for 1 - 8 climbers) + US$300 refundable garbage deposit. I climbed alone so had ta pay the full $700 up front, if you can find other climbers for the permit then you can share the cost. I checked-in at Namche on the way out and handed across my "garbage" and had to pay ~US$10 for it. The $300 was refunded in Kathmandu. Good luck :o)

@richardtpattison regarding the climb, did you get an outfitter? or you did all the 'paperworks' by yourself?

How difficult is it to do solo?

Yeah, it's easy (as long as you're a fairly experienced mountaineer).
There's normally a fixed rope on the headwall, but it's only about 40 degrees, I didn't use it going up, but sherpa wrapped on the way down.
