Ok, I did - "A shieldmaiden was a woman in Scandinavian folklore and mythology who had chosen to carry things for a warrior, for example, his shield, helmet, spare underpants, and magic mushrooms"
May the warm winds of heaven blow softly on you home, And the Great Spirit, bless all who enter there, May your moccasins make a happy tracks in many snows, And may the Rainbow Always toutch your shoulder "Cherokee"
@WENEEDBACKUPNOW Indeed. They tended not to make fat suits in metal. You would have been issued a sort of medieval duvet with holes cut for your arms.
Haha, maybe because you're Welsh? Welsh people actually seem to care about their history, most people in England don't care at all. Most can't even name ther first "King of England" an most don't know the difference between Saxons and Normans. I keep have to explaining my hammer amulet to people because nobody understands! I do Japanese sword fighting (I don't have my own Katana yet) and nobody ever seems interested in that, what sort of steel weapon fighting do you do?
well i've been once in poland and got to say that the pupils sent to one of the most advanced public school weren't able to speak one accurate english sentence in the 12th grade... idiots!
@Fuldachiller Because the germans, in contrast, are know to be such excellent English speakers...
Throw no stones when you live in a house of glass. I have fine and nice brothers in arms in both Poland and germany, and you know what? They are not that different...
This is from Denmark - the Battle of Moesgaard. It's every year in week 30. We'r there the intire week where we fight, drink and score girls. But the great fights is Saturday and sunday where we fight 2 times a day. Another great battle is Battle of Trelleborg also in Denmark in the week 29.
No offence, this looks ace but you're kidding about scoring girls right? This may just be a British view point but the girls I know would never go to something like this, they'd think it was for history geeks.
That said I am considering looking for a re-enactment group in my area from around this era as I recently found out that I'm not all Anglo-Saxon cross Scot/Celt cross Irish, I'm also part Dane!
Am I hallucinating, or did I see a woman at 0:44 ?

@ClachBhalg There are some records of women fightins as warriors during Viking times. Lookup Shieldmaiden in Wikipedia.
