The most original Irish dance ever. If you dig a bit deeper, the windpipes he's playing is actually a black sea region instrument (tulum) and that the river dance is a very stupified version if Horon. So what the old ladies are doing is actually more original than the river dance itself. Probably pre-dates it by a couple of thousand years as well. :)) [kahveden arkadaslari cagirin]
my dear sir you are mostly comparing the modern culture without taking the ancient history into account. tulum and bagpipes utilize exactly the same principle, are made of the same material and are quite similar. if you want a nicer comparison, think about a couple of hundred years back in ireland and the riverdance of those times. celtic culture is very deep and different than most other cultures, but it is a variation of nomadic shamanism. see behind the veil of modern society take it easy :)
@SokSa If we were to take "nomadic shamanism" in account we would look even beyond historical evidence of similarities and observe the psychedelic plants they consumed. Celtic cultre or well Celtic Shamanism was greatly influenced by psyclobin mushrooms and has a very different more visual taste to it. I wouldn't call the black sea coast more "original" as that would be silly. Celts may have came from Anatolia but they are a very different culture.
:)) oh and by the way. I was thinking why you got so offended. I found it. I made a fun comparison and said one is better than the other. merely a taste issue. this is not wikipedia. sorry for that. I do enjoy riverdance a lot actually. still, a personal opinion, nothing scientific, anthropological there. hah :)
@SokSa btw The Tulum is actually quite different than bag pipes. uilleann pipes are even more different. Without knowing Celtic ancient history or it's mythology I don't think one could make a healthy comparison as the two cultures you were talking about were very different. I was not offended, I was taught to rise above the shit. Mother earth is pregnant once again you know... peace
