I don't really understand your logic though, accuse somebody of labelling something then proceed to do it yourself.

Genres of music are important, composition is based around knowledge of 'recipes' for a particular style, with artistic deviation for flavour.

You're absolutely right about the importance of genres. However, you should really learn what dubstep is before calling random songs dubstep, because this has almost nothing in common with it. Dubstep is a slow 140bpm, heavy, dance genre with a very heavy-hitting first and third beat and a layered, often "wobbled" bass. This is electronica, yes, but not remotely close to the style dubstep.

@TheBobjenks You have to give yourself as much freedom and space and not limit yourself in your musicmaking by following pre-set recipes, but make your own. With Radiohead I would say it was very clear in Kid A that they can go on a limb and change their sound completely, but still keep it in the "Radiohead style".

After In Rainbows and now King of Limbs is their really and debate left over who is the greatest band out right now? I mean I know everyone has their fave band but just musically speaking Radiohead are so far ahead of their time. No Radiohead album sounds like any other Radiohead album and that is Phenomenal!

@mojarmi I disagree entirely. These versions are phenomenal, and although arguably better, the album was all about eery atmosphere and minimal soundscapes. Spend more time with the album recordings and you'll eventually recognize that they're just as brilliant, but in a different way. That's what happened with me, now I can't stop listening to the album and the from the basement versions.

@Jorob35 on Staircase Thom is using a Dave Smith Instruments Prophet 08 for the synth brassy/stringy sound. The synth bass on this song is a Minimoog. Also, on Lotus Flower, Jonny is using both, the Moog for the bass, and the Prophet 08 for the chorus strings.
