i was working at toys r us when i got a page still remember the guys name eric phillips he said tyson got knocked out just to show how much the fight meant no one knew who he was fighting man what an upset cant believe its been 22 yrs seems like yesterday
that sly stallone copied so many of cus d amato's famous quotes for rocky 5 ''fear is like fire'', ''if he werent here, i probably wouldnt be alive today''. Suprised the movie flopped.
He wasnt the same after this fight. His career went in the toilet because his last significant win if you think about it was the first Frank Bruno win. Henry Tillman,Alex Stewart, Ruddock was a tough one so really lets say ruddock. Peter Mcneeley buster mathis the second frank bruno and seldon please tomato cans along with others he just didnt fight and beat notable guys.
This was the perfect storm for Tyson's downfall. All the turmoil in his personal life, the changes in his corner, etc. meeting the unexpected focus and determination of Douglas stemming from the death of his mother.
Mike Tyson is definitely one of the greatest fighters of all time. Time has a habit of changing peoples memories, but you must remember, he was 35-0 with 31 knockouts with Kevin Rooney in his corner. Then the 16 month lay-off, during which he left Rooney, had two fights, now under don king, and then there was the Douglas fight. Before that, mike had never even been rocked in a fight, or shown any sign of hurt, although some say Bruno hurt him, but then that was the first fight post Rooney.
i use to hate that buster beat tyson but now im so glad tyson didnt put everythink into training so he deserved to lose buster smashed him and trained hard buster douglas dont play around on this night he was focused and tyson without rooney trained hard or not had no chance he needed rooney end of
@apexmoto For sure... This is crazy it is totally throwing me back to 3rd grade when i used to watch HBO and boxing. All the little production angles and the music.. everything.. I remember this like it was last year and it was 21 yrs ago. Wow. Please put up more old early 90s or late 80s Hbo fights with the intro and outro production i love that stuff. Thanks again for the post Dakamum
if tyson was sut a hard hitter WHY DET HE NEVER HURT BUSTER.. ITS LIKE SO CRAZY 2 THINK ABOURT.. He never hurt buster .. only with the uppercut.. but still buster came rihgt back and kickt tysons ass.. ppl say tyson was a hard hitte.. if he was sut a hard hitter how the fuck det he lost 2 buster.. even wen tyson wasent that fast.. he was still a better more powerful boxer ten.. buster.. BUT STILL HE LOST.. buster is the better boxer.. .. BUSTER U MY HERO AND IDOL MAY GOD BE WITH U. RIP 2 U MOM
@BunBRIP dont speak english dude, and what u on about tyson floored douglas that night, has douglas done the things tyson done over his career NO douglas was the better man that night thats it, all the great fighters have lost so just do me a favor stop watching boxing and go back to school and work on your spelling and english
@Dakamum bro were have u got all this from like u got the whole thing u the only guy who got this shit .. its like the whole fihgt plus sum extra thx bro
@Dakamum awesome awesome fight brother ... , Buster for 1 night was the G.O.A.T .... jab jab right .. and clinch .. a perfect game plan to expose mike for who he was . a bully ... and its great to see how young the hbo crew were and inspiring to see Holyfield ... 20 years on he still wants to be the heavyweight champion ..a true warrior .. many thanks . !
I never bought into any of the nasty rhetoric about Tyson. The man was clearly abused as a child and seemed to only want to be loved. He's battled image issues and is bi-polar. He's brought a lot of this stuff on himself, but I also think having that prick Don King manipulate and exploit him only took his problems and deepened them. The silver lining is that it seems as though Mike is finding peace with himself and surrounding himself with his family. I hope he is able to enjoy that part of life
Dakamum, you have my thanks for uploading the ENTIRE fight. I mean all the pre-fight broadcasts, the post-fight interview and the post-fight commentary. Basically every second of the broadcast.
1:58 Tubbs took a dive ... I never noticed that before...Tyson hit him in the arm .... WTF
