Well I would have to disagree with you on the professional comedian label.. Al Franken was never really a sucessful comedian, however his political career as a representative for the people of Minn. is very funny. Which to be sure,, the good people of Minn. are probably rolling with laughter, after they realized that they supported a failed comedian to go to the nations capitol and make life and death decisions for our nation.

What Sonia Sotomayor's personal beliefs are and/or who she really is should not be an issue with regard to her confirmation to the Supreme Court. The record of Judge Sotomayors rulings and how she has applied the law from the to the cases she's heard should be the only factors of any relevance. Senators Kyle and Sessions probably attempted to make her personal beliefs a prevailant part of the hearings because they knew her performance record from the bench to be sound.

He is right on the mark with his observation of Franken and Sotomayor. Politicans like these won't reveal their true selves until the voting begins and the spotlight is off of them. After all the majority of people in America do not agree with either one of these actors or their racist beliefs. Minorities and liberals should not get special favors or treatment in a society that should be fair and balanced for everyone...

Franklin has been cracking jokes throughout his campaign, what are you talking about? All his official correspondence (asking for money of course) had jokes in it. He gave jokes during his speeches. Sounds like you've built a straw man.

Not living in Minnesota, I'm sure I may have missed some of what you're referring to. But from what I have read and observed during the past 9 months, he was very, very conspicuous in not joking around. He's gone way out of his way to appear serious to the voters back home. Letters and correspondences are not the same as live Senate Hearings. But thanks for pointing this out.

Senators NOT on the committee have to weigh in ON CAMERA for the sake of their standing with their constituents. How they end up voting will not be monitored by 1 percent of their electorate; so, it's 99 percent showboating on their part. Franken IS on the committee, and by the time he's up for election, no one will remember this evolution, much less his vote. He's got no investment in the process beyond introducing himself.
