  • I agree, this should be for the Hunger Games.

  • does anyone know what this song is supposed to mean? i have to write a paper about it & i really dont know whats it supposed to mean.

  • @lovelifexoxoable When I hear it I think about the Native Americans who have been persecuted through the centuries. They have had their homes taken from them and their families and cultures destroyed. Could you imagine watching from down on a prairie as an entire race is slaughtered before your very eyes, their homes burning on the mountain tops and the rivers running red with their blood? To me this song speaks volumes about the lack of humanity and caring we have shown those people.

  • @lovelifexoxoable i think its about making the right choices when the options are the worst or perhaps about how to act during worst circumstances

  • im claiming this as my song. :P

  • this is the perfect theme song for the hunger games!!!

  • I don't know what country everyone else is living in that Rob Thomas is an unknown, but he's pretty well known in America. His songs are all over the radio...he's definitely not a mystery to anyone putting the dials on adult contemporary or contemporary hits.

  • this is not the original just for info^^

  • @MsKry1998, AMEN!!! LONG LIVE ROB THOMAS!!!!

  • i'm simply in LOVE with rob thomas..I know EVERYTHING about him..People dont recognise what a great singer he really is and they listen to rap and stupid Hollywood Magic, its not even real music,THIS,this is real music.

  • Just realized this song has elements from the bible ( 3 really ) not my cup of tea but still a good song when interpreted in a different way. ...well a good song any ways but you know what I meant.

  • i have this album great songs!

  • What a powerful song. The words themselves are powerful, but add his voice and the instrumental, and you have one HELL of a performance.

Fire on the mountain? Try fire in this song.

  • I've been spreading Rob Thomas and his work with MB20 through my mates. They like it. I am getting him better known.

  • x.x I love Rob Thomas, his songs have a great quality, not like some artist, in my opinion. ~

  • when I first heard this song...the only thing that came to mind is the Native Americans...it most certainly has the sound of the culture and the feeling of nature.

  • mnogo dobro (H)

  • i just know becuz rob thomas is so awesome, that when he's dead everyone will say

same like michael jackson OOOOHHH NOOOOOOOOOO HE'S DEAD and everyone will buy his plates

  • Love this song! I love reading descriptions & possible meanings for the, that it's geared as a statement about Middle East relations, or the Darfur crisis....it's so deep and extensive no matter what though!

  • Wow, this is probably my favorite song by him. Gasoline is a close second, but this is just great. The lyrics, the music, and his voice....just intense. It's such a good song. I wish more people were into his music now....

  • Its weird

From 0:00 to like 1:20 it reminds me of me and my GF looking at a sunset going down.

Rob Thomas makes me life seem different when I listin to it

  • i like songs with questions in them..

    rob thomas wins again.

  • It would be nice if you included the NAME of the song in your description.

  • Woah this song is insane. seriously i think this is my new favorite song.

  • mr tamaman-yes this song is definitely about whats happening in the world and how most are still blind to it-very powerful song-i believe that the truth has always been in music and musicians have been telling us for years-even back to the beatles 'taxman' and even further with john lennon-and he was assassinated-so was jimi hendrix when he started to get involved with politics-wake up people-it's nearly too late!

-thanks for the upload mr tamaman and especially with the lyrics!

  • Had to post this one again, intense...

  • Really enjoyed. Reminded me a little of Peter Gabriel, U2 and The Verve without losing it's own distinct sound. Hypnotic rhythm with undulating crescendos accompanied by a strong melody. Lyrics are bold yet archetypal with vocal style shifting between melodic, controlled harshness, trite and ephemeral. Through all these transitions a common thread remains. Very interesting from a both "commercial" and "artistic" perspective. Easy to enjoy on many levels.

  • that´s what I call music

  • LOVE THIS SONG!!!!!!

  • my 1st rob thomas song was this is how a heart breaks

    i loved rob ever sense

  • Rob Thomas is amazing! I saw him two days ago and it was the best christmas present ever :). This song is absolutely amazing <3.

  • too awesome =))

  • This is a great song and reminds me of what's going on in this country right now.

Replace "how can you sleep while the city is burning." with "how can you sleep while the country is burning."

  • You can thank Capitalism and Supply Side Economics for that. Really screwed the middle class by the way. I'm a Christian Socialist. Give all your stuff away now I mean it. You don't seem like a bad guy.

  • See, I have covered this before of why "Christian Socialists" don't exist in the real sense of the word which I won't go into that on here and now but if you message me I would love to clear that miss understanding up for you Lysergic.

  • @attackofthehatta I would love to go into why Christian Socialists do exist in the real sense of the word and how Christian Conservatives do NOT exist in the real sense of the word...manly because the teachings of Jesus are Socialistic by nature and are dead set against most forms of Conservativism.

  • @rdrakken Oh really? I bet I can prove you wrong.

Here's the difference between socialism and why Jesus was NOT a socialist.

He said God loves a cheerful giver, the early church gave in one big pot to divide up for the needy BUT they didn't give their money to the government to give to the people Nor did they FORCE people.

Jesus did not force people, look up History, socialistic gov. takes all money, keeps most for themselves and gives little back to the people they're supposed to be helping.

  • @attackofthehatta 1. learn what socialism and conservativism actually means.

    2. reform your opinion based on this new knowledge.

    3. post again because you dont know what you are talking about.

You cant prove Jesus was a conservative and not a socialist by saying he didnt give to the government when BOTH are forms of government, you defeat your own point by doing so...

  • @rdrakken Are you daft?

I never said Jesus was a conservative either I just said He wasn't socialist.

I don't need to reform my opinion because I'm not the one who's been brainwashed by the world into thinking Jesus was something He wasn't.

I do know what I'm talking about because I've watched and learned what History has taught about how socialism works, all you have to do is look at how governments have used socialism and caused the corruption and greed and the people aren't helped.

  • @attackofthehatta speaking of brainwashed. You think you know Jesus was something when neither of those things existed at the time he was alive.

Jesus was a man of the PEOPLE. Conservatism is not for the people, its for the powerful. Socialism is for the people, not the powerful. Name one government corrupted by socialism....cant wait for the typical uneducated Nazi Germany response.

  • @rdrakken Where did you get your information from that socialism is for the people? If you look at History it shows that it is NOT for the people but for the government and the government alone.

The people in Socialist governments weren't taken care of like they should have, everyone forced to reduce their pay while the government officials lived in luxury!

Why do you think that the soviet union failed? SOCIALISM!

By the way if you know HISTORY Nazis were SOCIALIST!

    Get educated!

  • @attackofthehatta You really dont know the first thing about socialism do you...hell even Faux News says that America will be DESTROYED by the people feeding off the government because of socialism.

hell I do not know of any single source that states that socialism is not for the people...oh wait I know...because you dont know what socialism is you are getting it confused with something completely different!

  • @rdrakken You're the one who doesn't know what they're talking about, I know what HISTORY tells me not Fox news, I don't even watch Fox for your information.

I don't have to listen to anyone to see what Socialism has done to people who live in it.

It's supposed to be for the people, that's the Idea BUT every country that has tried, the government has become greedy and becomes a dictatorship.

Look at Russia when it was socialist, people had to wait in line for FOOD and other things!

  • @attackofthehatta BTW Nazi's were not socialists, you just cant think for yourself so you think because the party was called National Socialists before Hitler took over that they must have been socialists during the war....idiot.

Nazi Germany's war machine was run by Capitalist business owners which is the OPPOSITE of a Socialist government in which the businesses are owned and run by the workers A.K.A the PEOPLE.

  • @rdrakken Nazi's were socialists and I CAN think for myself which is why I'm not a deceived Liberal like you are.

It would be easy to go and abandon the truth like you and others have, I chose who I am and I have chosen because I know what the truth is that you deny.

You can say your "Open minded" but you only open your mind to the Lies and call the truth lies.

There is only limited space, I'm done with this because there's nothing I can say that will convince you no matter how much proof I have

  • @attackofthehatta Nazi's were not socialists under Hitler you idiot. You cannot have a capitalist run economy and be socialist.

SOCIALISM IS A FORM OF ECONOMY NOT A FORM OF GOVERNMENT.

I knew you did not know what socialism was by your not correcting me when I said it was a government...yeah, you got suckered into showing you are an idiot...and that is why Jesus would have been a Socialist, because its an economy...giving directly to the people. moron.

  • @rdrakken I told you I'm done, I could prove you're very wrong like I said but no amount of proof would be good enough for you.

When you die you can ask Him yourself and be shocked when He tells you no.

You are the one that's been deceived in believing a lie.

Every socialistic country the government has taken over leaving little for the people they are supposed to help so it IS ABOUT THE GOVERNMENT YOU DOLT!

I'm done, have fun arguing with yourself from here on out.

  • @attackofthehatta 1. done requires no reply. 2. proof requires something that resembles a fact, not an opinion.

You got trapped into showing you dont know what you are talking about and cannot get out of it...you cant even be a man and admit you are wrong so please run into your closet and hide because your belief was questioned.

  • @rdrakken No, it's called being a man and walking away when the other person won't listen to you no matter how much proof you have.

I know the truth and maybe some day you will too, I'm being the man and walking away from this, you can be immature if you want but I'm not going to keep talking to someone who keeps arguing.

It would take entirely too much space to post everything I need to indefinitely prove you wrong and even then I doubt you would accept it so I don't care what you think.

  • @attackofthehatta No, its called being a pigheaded fool for walking away when not being able refute what is being put in front of you.

Either walk away and stop replying so everyone here can see you for the fool you are or provide a direct refute with what you disagree with as I have done with something that at least resembles the truth...not that you could possibly cover the fact that you got Socialism completely wrong though.

  • i really dont care what you guys are talking about BUT (and you cant disagree) israel(and not jews) are the new nazis. :( they're doing what hitler did to them.

  • @Saratheinvisible this is true-please watch occupation 101 to see what's really going on-the palestinians are not the real bad guys here-please google it and watch and maybe there's something you can do to help!

  • @richrica I’m Palestinian; I know who the enemy is and who’s not. I read books I watch movies, I watch the news. Because i don’t live in Palestine, i feel like my duty is to do something. Also, thank you for the documentary recommendation. I’ve been looking for good documentaries. Hopefully one day, I’ll do one that will make people more aware at what is really going on. will watch it. thank you!

  • I saw him live in Toronto last wednesday this was his first song it was awesome!!!

  • i no he played this first in washington :D

  • i honestly always thought everyone knew rob thomas but just didnt really think he was someone special, but he's apparently not that famous to youth. we'll change that. ill make some of his lyrics my facebook status, thats how people copy my music most of the time lol

  • according to Show - a night in the life of matchbox twenty. alot of kids knew them. there were 5 year olds saying the loved rob according to the documentary. So i dont know why the youth wouldnt know his solo work. Although ill admit. I liked his Matchbox stuff more.

  • Reminds me of lord of the flies

  • @Tanja117 ME TO! i have to read it for english and i thought of this song!

  • no one knows about the wonderful rob thomas. but im gonna change that. he has pure talent and is so handsome! i cant say much more, his music i magic to me.

    i luv u rob

  • @jollyrojer23 well when you got all these silly pop acts such as Soulja Boy & Taylor Swift taking over, it's hard for talent like Rob Thomas to get noticed even though he did come from a famous band known as Matchbox 20

  • @jollyrojer23 Yeah, he never really got the recognition he deserved.

  • WOW! He's amazing! I'm surprised barely anyone in my school knows him! The only reason I know him is because of my friends parents. AmAzInG sOnG!

  • rob thomas rock idk why most kinds dont know him mostly parents know him my mom told me about him

  • The beat is freakin' sweet! Love this song. I hope he does some of that Latin feel for his next album. You know, kinda like what he did for Smooth and Lonely No More. He could really pull it off.

  • This song is good for the lower chakras.

It's also good because of the tribal drums.

  • the begining is cool

  • This Fire on the Mountian is like a Native American song! Is because of the beginning!

  • this song reminded me of the aboriginal americans and what happened to them.

  • i lesson to his whole ablum and its really cliche(cry cry love songs and heartbreaks watever) but this song is F**CKING AWESOME its powerful and well an amazing song, every part of it. if he did all his songs like this he'd be a GOD!!!

  • This song is not cliché.

  • i didnt say the song was cliche, there are other songs on the album that are

  • As a matter of fact, it's so not a cliché that it you took 10 people, we'd all different interpretations of the lyrics.

  • true, but he doesnt try to make a change, i really like this song and gasoline, other than that all of his other songs are continous

  • wow! the lyrics are touching.

  • I think its about some war in Africa where they could tell how far away the war was by seeing the next town over burning and by seeing the smoke on the horizon.

  • amazing

  • The music style reminds me a little bit of Jim Morrisson and The Doors. The lyrics provide powerful imagery. I agree with MrTamaMan, in that I can see this song being about any war-torn or ravaged area. Mankind's potential and capacity for self-destruction is a though-provoking thing...... Great Song! :)

  • yeah I'll say this is prob the most lyrically powerful song on the whole album.

  • i ask alot of ppl if they know rob thomas but they say who is he?i say the greatest singer in the world!

  • It's strange! he's such a great singer, but only few know his work. Unacceptable!!!!

  • Candy26262: Agree!! I love Matchbox 20/ Rob Thomas and Greenday the most out of all music!!

  • Great Song

  • does this song remind anyone of the middle east conflicts? I think that's what it's about. or any war-torn area.

  • @MrTamaMan Maybe Mexico and the drug wars , he wife is from there. It'd make sense that it'd influence him.

  • @daylanrayne sorry i meant - his wife..

  • One of my favorites. [x Thank you for uploading all the songs, by the way. What's your favorite[s]?

  • i like snowblind, mockingbird and give me the meltdown. the whole album is great though!

  • I'll agree this is a good album, to me not as good as his first solo and definitley not as good as the first three matchbox albums but decent.

  • I agree it's not as good as his first solo, IT'S BETTER!!!!! This guy just keeps getting better and better and better. The fact that he's just gorgeous has zip to do with it lol

  • The cover art creeps me out, but I love the song!

  • Oh, I know. lol.

  • Thanks for uploading all the songs, i really want to learn the lyrics. Are you a big fan of Rob?... i love him!, i'm from Mexico and it's hard to find his stuff over here... I'm starting to really listening to the new album... this song is great!

  • im a big rob thomas fan! him and michael jackson are my favorite solo artists. I always think its sad when people can't get certain music because of where they live :-/
