  • its horrible when he gets beaten, u can really see the pain on his little face :(

  • ..That was probably the quietest childbirth I've ever witnessed.

  • @sievlean

Okay, I know this might sound like a stupid question, but I never knew what those signs meant. What are you trying to say?

  • Not a feel-good story. England at it's dirtiest with coal dust in the air. Miserable if you're poor. And the law is unforgivingand malicious toward of minor acts of crime and even with such horrible laws, crime flourishes.

I'm so very luck to live as I do.

  • skip to 3:18 to avoid spoilers -_-

  • anyone know the title of the opening music?

  • sad :(

  • រឿងនេះជារឿងដែលខ្ញុំសិក្សានៅឯសាកលវិទ្យាល័យ៕

  • bloodywidow69 est ce que tu as toutes les parties d oliver twist

  • Wut is the Theme to this!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i wonder what would Charles Dickens say if he would watch a movie based on his book!?

  • i would die myself after such a labour!

  • the story is so interesting

  • @anonUK: I didn't say anything bad about this version, so I don't know where you got that from. I was stating that she shouldn't watch a television/film adaptation of a book to take a test, write a book report, etc. alone and expect to pass with flying colors. She could miss a lot of the questions and do badly. This is my favorite version and it's indeed more faithful than many other ones, but it still deviates from the original plot on several points all the same.

  • Dont bother reading the BOOK you will have it on the streets shortly In America all over the world there are lNew Little Olivers ,,, why should we be different? Thanks GOP

  • @elizaxoxo100: In addition to what lavloggymania said, this version also deviates from the original storyline in several parts, so it'd be best to just read the book. I tried to do the same thing you're trying to do on an Accelerated Reading test when I was in third grade and I ended up failing it (I used the Disney version of Oliver Twist from 1997). >.<

  • @Terephiel

While I don't deny that this is a poor substitute for the actual novel, this is probably much closer to the original idea of the novel than anything Disney could come up with.

Were there any animated woodland creatures in the Disney version? That's where you made your mistake...

  • And that's how Oliver was born. (:

  • 3:52 movie starts without the previews

  • i dont know dis version

  • is this the movie that disney used to make oliver and company (my fave movie)???

  • only reason im watchin dis is cuz...my english teacher is makin my whole class read this book and i couldnt be bothored reading...its much easier to watch :DDD

  • @elizaxoxo100 the book is not too long, so it would be better to read the book, 'cause its a great book, you can read it in 5 hours!

  • Bloody Hell, paraded around the streets of london on the top of a pub chair?!? poor girl

  • i have watched this before but it was so good i wanted 2 watch it again so i am lucky i found u this is really good quality! :D

  • like if you think this is a good film

  • i love boz

  • i read the book it was good

  • Fake and gay.

  • Never thought ITV could do a better drama than BBC. I was wrong.

  • squelch?

  • I saw this movie when it first came on PBS! Thank you for putting this on here. I enjoyed watching it. I wish PBS would encore their Masterpiece specials like this more than they do.

  • @Torie3593 True

  • how did they made the baby

  • thanks :)

  • this shit gave me a A in homework yeah baby

  • θηθθθι

  • dose anyone know where i can find the 2005 version

  • @animegirlino1 just search its ;0

  • It would be possible to post Oliver with the artful dodger JACK WILD?

  • @TheChuckk better than the one with barney clark? i've never seen this one, but i loved the one with barney clark.

  • I read the books many times when I was young and felt so heartbroken for Oliver especially when he got shot and was left for dead. Now its a cruel world out there but the ROOT cause of Oliver's MISERIES are his MOTHER and FATHER. If they had WAITED, gotten MARRIED and had their child LEGITIMATELY like the rest of CIVILIZED people NONE of this would have happened.

  • @LaplaceFourier if they had it wouldn't have been oliver that was born.

  • @LaplaceFourier

My Mum and Dad Wernt Married and My Lifes Been Fine........ SO FAR!

  • @LaplaceFourier The root of it was the society the lived in, and that is exactly what Dickens intended, you can't argue with that, because he in fact said that those were his intentions. If your born poor like Oliver's mother probably was, you were basically screwed. His mother was young, innocent, naïve. Aren't we all when we're young? I'm not justifying her choice, I'm just saying that you can't judge somebody from one mistake.

  • @spinynorman230 Acutally his mother came from a fairly well off family

  • @authorgirl2010 yeah but in those times if a woman lost her virtue her family might decide to cast her off without any money. i'm thinking thats what probably happened when her family found out. because she was rich in the beginning and when she had oliver she looked like she was homeless and trying to find a place to stay.

  • @dramaqueen465 Well as you see in the film version they show she wasn't cast out but like others have pointed out theres a rather large plot hole concerning his parents.

  • @spinynorman230 olivers mother was middle class, not in anyway poor, she was the niece of mr brownlow, she fell in love with the wrong man who let her down,so she felt to ashamed to return to her family.

  • @spinynorman230 The sad part is, Oliver's mom WAS NOT POOR. It really is her own fault. She was slept with a person with out being married, who left her. Because she had sex before marriage she either was sent away or ran away (can't remember). If she had waited until he put that rock on her finger, non of this would have happened.

  • @spinynorman230 if you follow the story his mother was RICH not poor. oliver was a 'bastard' from an unwed woman have you seen or read it?

  • @spinynorman230 *you're

  • @LaplaceFourier you are joking,right?

  • @LaplaceFourier you are joking,right?

  • omygosh. like agnes has alot of fans bringing her. :)))

  • It's nice that the town people cared so much that they took her to safety~ If a woman nowadays did what she did, people probably wouldn't even look at her at all.

  • Olivers mother looks like Kate Winslete!

  • Ty M8

  • @Mjlover774 Do you mean Fagin?

  • in the book, the doctor doesnt care about the baby

  • no but we have to sing and the person said that the person who sings the best will get the part ill post a video of me singing a song from oliver

  • hey guys i am auditing for the play oliver twist in my school except its called oliver and a twist. And i want to be nacy do u guys have any advice?

  • @kkkpeacelove505 if nancy is hot and you're hot thats fine if nancy is ugly and(no offense) you're ugly you will get the part

  • @kkkpeacelove505 im going to be the pik pocket guys it htink

    in the school play

  • @kkkpeacelove505 nancy is a prostitute, and I think you should go look on sparknotes and search for her character

  • i like thise story

  • Thanks a lot!

  • 7:33 very funny

  • I was doing oliver twist as a play lol

  • Was that doctor he boyfriend.....?

  • :( englich y I am espanich

  • I'm doing this as a play. And it's soooooo awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But we have to do 9 performances.

  • the version from 2005 is much better

  • that old woman is... annoying.

  • this movie is as awesome as the book, this certainly is one of Charles Dickens masterpiece!

  • Why is this listed under the heading "Oliver Twist' (1948)? This is NOT the 1948 version!

  • what waz the lady tryin to do at the beggining of the movie

  • @ilovetheworld123bka suicide I'm guessing

  • @ilovetheworld123bka Possibly about to throw herself off the cliff. In her right hand she has a locket with a picture of herself and the baby (Oliver's) father. It is the only thing he will have to remind him in future life of who he is.

  • I remember this! It's been a while since I last saw it.

    Thanks a lot for uploading!

  • I saw this version. It adds tons of backstory that wasn't in the book, and even adds a second murder that Dickens didn't write. Of course, what's left o the original is good, but sme scenes are changed so much they're practically unrecognizable.

  • 7:31 xD lol *plop!*

  • YOU LIE!!

  • @alexander92648 fuck you! YOU LIE!

  • So, this is the 1999 mini series, isn't it?

  • Why does exxon-mobil have a masterpiece theater? Greedy oil tycoons aren't the first ones I think of when I think of classical literature.

  • 7:08 lol and 8:34 shes swearing

  • Comment removed

  • There are so many adaptions of this... I was looking for another version, but I'll watch this one too. :P So far this would be the second movie depiction I've watched. The 2005 one was very true to the books, except some details and it never really mentioned Oliver's origins. I do vaguely remember them but not the details.

  • i am doing this as a play at my school this spring

    yay

  • this is a cool version

  • I remember seeing this version when I was very young. I never saw this part of it, though.

  • there are about ten or more versions. i haven't seen all of them yet, only the 2005 version instead. but the story is beautiful so i think all of the versions might be beautiful too...

  • How many versions are there of oliver twist?

  • 35, according to IMDB

  • great quality!!!!!

  • hank u very much for posting! i love oliver twist and some day iwill gather the nerve to read it

  • i borroed a book from my friend shes 18 years old its oliver twist book

  • darlingrepunte, if you want to see an excellent adaptation, try the 1948 Oliver Twist directed by David Lean.

  • I think this version and the 1997 version with Richard Dreyfuss are my favourites. ^^

  • I love this version. I have refused to see any other version. I LOVE the music, that is what I really want to hear. Its fantastic, so are the actors.
