You don't have to be intelligent to voice your point of view on a piece of work. Art is completely subjective and that's the fun of it. Everyone will see something different, that doesn't mean they are pretentious in doing so. I don't know why you think nobody could understand art. Every piece is different, how could you group it all together? Finally the artist is not always the authority of their own piece, that's why artists have critiques. Art is not math where there is one right answer.

The night scene has always been a challenge for the artist. I think you handled it quite well. The light radiates from the two buildings and reflects off the thick application of paint.

It's funny how colors like yellow can have many meanings. In this case it is cowardliness but in other paintings it might be happiness or divine presence. Anyway, the composition really helps to prove the red building is the more dominant.

Val, nice to hear I'm not the only one. Once I chose to walk home from a bonfire party 10 miles out on a canoe camp in the middle of the night, rather than argue w/my girlfriend as a passenger in her car. It was starting to storm and the only time I could see the road was when the lightning struck. I could hear animals moving in the brush so I started singing like an opera singer or a military seargent. Lucky for me, she came back to ask me if I wanted a ride after I came to my senses:)

Oh Val,

I was wary at first. Waited several years after a friend got me interested. I have 4 of them now and and I love them beyond measure. They are like really smart kittens when they are up and playing.
