  • can i just say it's funny how the french need to make a big deal about their arc de triumph, because they feel it tells people they actually have won a war. i just want to know when that was exactly.

  • @80sglamfan they won a war against theirself. the revolutionary war. but then again lost it.

  • @80sglamfan can you name one country that doesnt have a war memorial and statues?

  • librarie is not a library. bibliotheque is a library.

  • ..no wonder they lose all wars...

  • Having seen Jeremy's French Film and REAL French films, he is fucking spot on, it's kind of painful.

  • Us British and French, we make fun of each other but really we're the best of friends.

  • how on earth are the french brave?

  • @Jack70903 dont you think it takes quite a bit of bravery for them to act so arrogant and snooty despite having little to back it up?

  • Almost wee'd myself watching Un film de Jerome Clarkson.

  • Is the ham happy? lol

  • you can seduce anytime

  • "Now you're French, and you're an attractive man, and you can seduce in anytime, any place in the world."

    And Jeremy just nods.

  • That is righ about france they do seem to have a little love of old cars. Enough to in the weirdest of places to find someone who can help you.

  • J'adore la France!

  • Wow, who sang this rendition of A La Claire Fontaine? That's more an art than music.

  • france sucks and will forever suck

  • I love the "french film" part sooo much!! classic

  • As a french, i think jeremy shows the french's caracters very finely, and that's absolutely briliant!

    That's great!

  • it boring to talk with french

  • The words Jeremey Clarkson and style can never be used in the same sentence.

  • best film ever: Un Film de Jerome Clarkson

  • @darksmidger

    it is xD

that's why I uploaded it to my account, shame I can't find out what the song playing in the background is

  • Can anyone tell me the piece of music at 6:45?

    Cheers

  • Comment removed

  • it's the ending theme from Heat

"Moby - God Moving Over The Face Of The Waters"

  • I don't even talk about WW1, where France gave the main contribution ( 1 400 000 dead, more than America in its entire history ) and Battle of Verdun ( 160 000 dead ), Hell on Earth, where neither Americans nor English ( who are constantly bashing France about the cowardise ) put a single feet...

When your countries will have lost more than 1 700 000 soldiers in 2 world wars, they'll can make fun about France. Cheers.

  • "They meet next to no resistance apart from a white flag" --> Ignorance or bad faith ? Certainly both...

  • Battle of France = 7500 belgian killed, 2900 Dutch killed, 3460 English killed, and 123 000 French killed during 5 bloody fighting weeks. And you dare to call it "no french resistance"?

  • During WW2, France lost 250 000 soldiers ( more than Norway, Sweden, Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, Portugal, Australia and Canada reunited ) + French Resistance ( 80 000 dead ) who hardly fought in french maquis during WW2, thanked for it by Allied Forces...

  • You always needed to fight France with some other nations during Napoleonic Wars.

  • 5th Coalition --> Great Britain, Austria against France.

6th Coalition --> Great Britain, Russia, Prussia, Sweden, Austria, German States against France.

  • 7th Coalition --> Great Britain, Russia, Prussia, Sweden, Austria, German States against France.

France was alone against the World, you never fought alone against France during that time. What a shame. Napoleon is the last great european Emperor..

  • part 5) "what about when nazi's invade France ?" --> yes, nazi invaded France and this isn't the greatest part of our rich history, but all all Europe was invaded except England ( a pretty island, thank you Channel ) Why always talking about France during WW2, while Netherlands, Belgium, Norway, Poland, Austria, Denmark, all european countries were invaded by an over-militarized nazi army ? ( Spain neutral )

  • Oh I forgot, Happy New Year !

  • Flee like rats, did we?

    You ungrateful bastards.

Between 1814 and 1830 the flag of France - the drapeau blanc - was a plain white flag. You shouldn't have changed it.

  • Don't care about WW2. That's the eternal joke about the French, you don't have anything else...Yorktown and Hundred Years War, you lost it, in your face baby.

Actually England sucks, that's why english rats come to enjoy french life in France that they hate so much...

    Cheers.

  • "Between 1814 and 1830 the flag of France" --> lol many thanks internet !!!! The white is the color of Purity and Light, this is a royal color. You are taking poor elements to discredit France...The white was the color of Joan of Arc's flag, I let you meditate on it....

  • Purity and Light? Is that why the French choose to tear veils from the heads of young Muslims and to set fire to the substandard houses of Algerian immigrants in the banlieu - to uphold the Purity and Light of France? At least when we set fire to people - like that witch Joan of Arc - we're not being racist.

White's the colour of surrender: meditate on that, Jean-Marie Le Pen.

  • I'm not sure to have understood what you would say to me...sorry.

  • @artsed08 that comment which you made three months ago is the most fucked up shit I've ever read

  • Is the ham happy ? is the table talking :D

  • "The British are just so much more classy" --> it's funny how British people need to feel superior to French people. Us French totally don't care about British.

  • @AttackTheGasStation1 good. Im not french or british, im just an observer, and thats my point of view

  • Oh, you should have mentioned that to us in 1940, we'd have left you to it.

  • artsed08 --> what is the connection between this video and 1940 ????

1940 --> Dunkirk = vastest re-embarking of military history. French and British are destroyed by a geman over-militarized army. English flee like rats avoiding water and let the French alone. So 1940....

  • Can't say the English fleed like rats when it was the french that waved the white flag

  • "Can't say the English fleed like rats" --> In Dunkirk, this is an historical fact.

  • It was a tactical retreat to regroup, without it D-day would never have happened. And what about Azincourt? The french out numbered the English 4 to 1 and the french ran away with their tails between their legs. What about with napoleon? The English defeated him 2x. What about when nazi's invade France? They meet next to no resistance apart from the white flag.

And "English flee like rats" isn't a historical fact, we did a tactical retreat and defended our island instead of laying down for nazis

  • "It was a tactical retreat to regroup" --> English fled, period. England is an island, this is a big advantage.

"without it D-Day would never have happened" --> without America and ALL allied forces, D-Day would never have happened.

  • part 2) "what about Azincourt" --> you won a battle, ok, but France won the War. Of course you won battles, the French too ( Pontvallain, La Rochelle, Brossinïère, Orléans, Patay, Rouen, Formigny, Castillon ). You can also notice that Henry V took advantage of civil war between Armagnacs and Bourguignons to attack France during Azincourt Battle.

  • part 3) Hundred Years War is won by France, that's I retain about it.

"What about with Napoleon" --> Lol. France conquered Europe and North Africa under Napoleon, not too bad, isn't it ?

"the English defeated him 2x" --> lol During Napoleon's reign, France had to fight against entire Europe, there was coalitions against France all the time..

  • part 4) 1rst Coalition --> Great Britain, Austria, Prussia, Spain, Piedmont against France.

2nd Coalition --> Great Britain, Austria, Russia, Ottoman Empire, Portugal, Naples, Vatican against France.

3rd Coalition --> Great Britain, Austria, Russia, Sweden against France.

4th Coalition --> Prussia, Saxony, Russia against France.

  • "Lol. France conquered Europe and north Africa under Napoleon, not too bad, isn't it?" Yes it is bad as the British controlled 3/4 of the globe by that point and D-Day wouldn't have happened without the British as the brits where the head-sheds behind the intelligence which also cracked the german enigma machine, France didn't even last 2-3 years of the war before the french ran like snakes from fire.

  • "Yes it is bad as the British controlled 3/4 of the globe" --> Napoleonic Army conquered many european powerful countries, while England conquered wild fields with Indian or aborigene people, let me laugh... France was interessed by mainland and fought against entire Euope while English played to kill autochtones...

  • @AttackTheGasStation1 : Sorry but we didn't just conquer 'indians and aborigenes' - we beat you several times - seven years war, napoleonic wars etc. we've played a part in beating the germans also! so dont just say we've only faced people far less technologically advanced than us

  • @GGSDavejones Britain was cornered, France had surrendered, Russia was all but conquered and America was getting beaten badly in the Pacific. We all had our dark days and without each other none of us would be here today.

  • I love Brits (I am one!) for our humour, our stoicism, our individualism, and our cool; but I live in France now, and they are so nice; hard to explain, but they just make an art form out of being alive in all its forms, from food, to leisure, to learning, to friendship.

  • @mkai4492 You haven't been to Newcastle for a long time, have you ?

  • Errrr.. SPAM.... on MY videos?!?!!?!?!!?!?

  • The Stig does laps in an identical Avantime in season 12 or 13. It looked like a pretty nice car before Top Gear got a hold of it. :)

  • I love this guy!

  • Honestly, I want that Avantime~~~ unfortunately we cant buy it in Aust~~~

  • Not all of you have same ancestors!!

Many of you have German ancestors!!

  • hahaha the jerome clarkson film got me laughin and crying it was too funny

  • Too busy doing it indeed!

  • 7:19, I would like to go to France just to visit their village restaurants (and see the rest of France as well)

  • In fact, I think he mentioned the car was made the year Jeremy was born (part one) so this may very well be the case.

  • The car he was driving may have been so old he wasn't LEGALLY obliged to wear a seatbelt and so probably wasn't breaking any laws.. this is Clarkson we're talking about!

I'm sure some car buffs/French lawyers can confirm this though...

  • @HellwrathUK You must wear seatbelts if they're provided, the car probably isn't equipped with seatbelts, my Wolseley isn't.

  • no seat belt on 6:40

  • Again, which video were you watching? At no point did he say the French were obsessed with English. If you bothered to read anything from Clarkson you'd know he loves France, I'd expect this kind of response from a German on the Germany episode!

  • "i love France, its the french who spoil it!"

  • What obsession? He did our country too. Of course he is making stereotypes, but you should look trough that, it's funny.

  • "so what do you cares? school, political environment?" no, style. why? because i'm french.

  • What a pile of cocky snobby crap!!

  • tres drole lol

  • That "french film" was hilarious.

  • What's the name of the song in the Black and White film?

  • The song is "A La Claire Fontaine". It's a traditional french song. Sadly I've no idea, who the singer is

  • As you wrote, it is a traditional song so every body sings it. Especially kids.

  • 4th part?

  • Coming very soon, I promise :)

  • Just uploaded, it's processing should be available very soon, it's the controversial 'Ortolan Bunting' bit too :)

  • thanks

  • what's the music at 7:00 ?

  • God Moving Over the Face of Water by Moby

  • "In American films there would be color and I would have a gun, and perhaps a little car chase. Mais non, je suis Français. Merde."
