I've had mine for about a year. I still get compliments on it. If I could ask the designers to do 1 thing beter, i'd say, make the zipper straps stronger and more durable. The zipper always gets stuck for a second and u can tell that "it" will be the first to breakdown. But other than that its great
I just got my book book case 15' today. Its sexy and very concealable. My parents didn't even notice the book book. I like the vid, but I'm confused because the way you put your MBP in the reading on the book book spine was upside down so maybe the MBP fits in the other way. I tried it the other way and it fits better and zips up better plus my ports are more accessible compared to the way you put it in.
Can please someone respond to all the comments about overheting? Does it obstruct the vents yes or no? And if yes, is there a possibility that the macbook pro overheats in the bookbook?
@fakifak Just got it delivered. It vents upwards and the bookbook leave some space inbetween the vents and the spine of the bookbook allowing it to vent properly. Obviously extended use will cause the Macbook 13" bookbook to heat up...but my Macbook 13" (Pro) heats up on a glass surface after heavy usage so I'm not surprised.
@fakifak It only maybe on my friends macbook but it gets serious temp when using via the case usually without the case the temps are between 65 to 70 *C on light programs and the temps get up to 85 to 90 *C using this case, these temps arent alarming but there is a definitive temperature raise on my friends macbook, hes using the Early 2011 15"Inch version, i have the same but i don't have this case, there is a slight gap between the back of the book and your macbook so air should flow.
this would be more useful and safe if only used as a transport device...using a regular hard shell case with a vent and allowing the macbook pro to breathe will be the only way to go.
BTW, the only thing missing from this case is a carrying strap that looks like a binding. I don't like having to carry the laptop around with my hands. I turn into Miss Butterfingers when I have to carry more than 2 things together XD
OWW!! i hit my shoulder or hand or shoulder or hand or shoulder or hand or shoulder or hand or shoulder or hand or shoulder or hand or shoulder or hand or shoulder or hand or shoulder or hand or shoulder or hand or!!!
I think the only way Mike can overheat his notebook is only because of silicon keyboard cover. BookBook doesn't seem to heat up your macbook too much (maybe 3-4 degrees)
It doesnt have a carrying strap because its meant to look like a book! Part of the ingenuity of this case is that it will thwart potential thieves, put I think a thief would realize whats going on if you were walking around the street with a book strapped around your shoulder
Great video, helped me make my decision to buy one and I LOVE it! Still need to have another form of protection though and tried the incipio feather on the 15.4 which fits at a pinch, BUT, returning it as not made for this model and cut outs not aligned correctly. Have you come up with a solution for scratch protection that will fit? Was thinking invisible shield but don't like it. Maybe the red tucano secondskin and macbook pro 'nude'? Thoughts anyone?
do you think that combining Speck's Satin SeeThru hardshell case with 12S' BookBook will have any drawbacks? The 15" MBP should still fit inside even with the shell case attached...Working on a MacBook Pro for a longer period of time (more than 2h) while leaving it in the BookBook will most certainly cause overheating, and for that reason I would use the Satin case. BB is still great to carry around, providing double protection for the laptop :)
"Unfortunately, your Speck Hardshell will make your laptop too thick for the BookBook. You can enclose your MacBook in one or the other, but not both at the same time....sorry."
Seems like the only option is to keep changing the cases... or get one of them...Now which one, that's the question... :)
@TRXforces Lol, I just contacted Twelve South to ask this question. I want to get an Incase case for my MBP and I'm seriously considering getting this case as well, for storage and transportation.
Is it possible to use the BookBook case as a 'permament' case, anyway? I mean, to use the laptop always inside the case, as with the Incase/Speck hard shells. I guess you can do that while you're on the go, but can you use your laptop always like this?
This is a great video and a cool product. I just purchased one today and i don't mean to be critical but i'm pretty sure that those little black straps inside go on the top of the macbook and not at the base so that you can open it and the back won't fall down. Just saying...
@CaptainFur Probably no more than using it on a soft surface. The MacBook Pro vents are on the rear hinge so air should vent up fine. That's my guess anyway.
Hi mike,This look's like "Novel" idae, lol,To disguise your laptop for sure,Unique in the fact that it look's like a book,Cool,I have had the instance's where i forget to take stuff out of view in my car,I will be checking this case out for sure,Thank's for the Video :)

What about over heating? Using your MacBook Pro in that case, wouldn't it over heat?
You think they make "smaller book" cases for power cord, adapters, etc.
