The canes caught the gators at a good time. The gators weren't clicking yet and hadn't discovered how to properly utilize all of it's speed. I won't mention Emmit Smith, who is ranked the 7th best player in NFL history(higher than any Cane). You mentioned guys out of the leage(edge, Sapp, Taylor) Not sure what that is.
