i got lucky on my 2nd try he succumbed to death after the 3rd try (seems 3 and 5 casts is the magic number, i'd say if you dont get it within those try again) but the lil guys got me lol, i forgot like the Ochu u have to kill them too.
i'm pretty sure screech attack is a response to the damage u inflict on him. when i use vanille to cast death while the others keep me alive, screech barely damages half my full health, but when i go all out attack, screech kills me instantly
Belladona Wand does not increase the success of Death beyond 1%, but it does help any other debuffs landing, each of which increases the chance by 1%
Now that I have beaten an Adamantoise with Sazh's Blitz at Crystarium 9, and found it a much better method than Death, I wonder whether it would work on the Neochu. Possibly it is too small a target, or the Picochus would get in the way
If it works, it could save future players of this Mission anywhere up to several hours of their RL
I just kept casting Imperil in the SAB/SEN/MED paradigm to build the chain gauge for the little ones. Your sentinel probably uses Vendetta, and debuffing deals extra damage ^_^ I used Vanille, Snow, and Hope.

sab/sen/med group and kept me healed until screech. Best advice is to keep trying and at least be starting LV. 5 crystalarium cause i failed a lot trying it early on.

HELL FREAKING YEAH I DID IT . Neochu that piece of crap just wouldn't die. I cast Death on him like 20 times and he wouldn't die. Then on one fight, the third time I cast Death he died
i basically did the same cept i used snow instead of fang. more hp and he has a weapon that improves guard :) i also gave him hp accessories and gave the auto haste accessories to hope and vanille. also used aegisil xD
after death worked i used sab med sen to imperil the lil ones and switched to med syn sen to buff with the en- spells and faith and killed them off slowly with com med sen, took me around 8 minutes.

Yesterday i beat that mark..I have to say that i tried it 4 times.It took me 4 tries max to death it and i have to say that the real problem were the picochus cause they were kinda hard to death them! Finally i got the growth egg...I can't understand some people saying that it is so hard to cast death on him, I think that 15 tries are ok
I just did it with Vanille, Hope and Fang. Death worked on the third launch, then Fang burst the picochus! Respectively, Vanille, Hope and Fang had 11555, 8585 and 11115 HP. None had his fifth level complete (just the medic one with Vanille, useless in this battle).

if you equip nimbletoe boots(upgrade whistlewind scarf) with the sprint shoes it gives you 10% faster ATB charge, so you get more time for death spamming even after the haste wears off
I did this except with snow. My paradigms were vanille snow hope. Med sen med, syn sen syn, and sab sen med. I did first time and failed. Also failed second time. Third, killed with one death.... For the little guys...forgot a offensive paradigms so i had to do enfire and imperil to make death stronger to try to kill them. Snow helped with counter but was weak o.o
First half of strategy was amazing... however dont do med med com do rav med sen cuz with 2 meds they attack everyone and youll most likely die :/ I kno from experience T~T SO CLOSE
Death Spell is got like 1% or 2% of success on it.. But if u want it to make it Higher upgrade Vanille's weapon to 2nd Tier and cast Imperil on Neochu.. that' will make easier

@14justinmiranda hi there - check out Final Fantasy Wikia / Shroud - but as far as i know, if you arm yourself with a Survivalist Catalogue there's a pretty good chance Aegisol will get dropped by an enemy or two. as for Fortisol - very difficult to get your hands on, except after beating Rosch's Proudclad (2nd battle) you can buy Fortisol (and Aegisol) at Eden Pharmaceuticals in Shop.
@wagbyname Your chances for shrouds to drop also increase in battles that you get low scores on. I don't have the numbers with me, but if you want to go shroud hunting then you should go after really short battles with high level equipment and take more time than needed.

My best advice is the Attrition(Sab-Med-Sen) paradigm. Vanille, Hope, Fang as the party. Hope will (most likely) keep Fang healed as she is attacked while you use Vanille to try and instantly kill the Neochu. It worked for me after about 7 tries. Got 5 stars, and on top of that, I used Hecatoncheir to kill off the Picochu's and received the Limit Breaker trophy without even trying to! How cool is that!
what I did whas using Vanille/Lightning/Snow and the set ups: SAB/MED/SEN and RAV/MED/SEN with the equips Sprint shoes on all (can be replaced with an pre-casted item) and then 2 Sorceress Mark Stared on Van and Light and 2 Black Belt Stared on Snow, also make sure that Van and Light got 4500+ hp and snow 6500+
This monster is so strong.. I keep dying.. I just got lucky when i cast death at the start of the battle.. He died.. Haha.. I spam death to it until i die.. And reload/retry, same thing again.. I use Sab/Med/Sen with the use of shrouds.. I got 5 stars rating at the battle afterwards..
Tried Death for the very first time on this 2 million+ health bitch and killed him instantly then took care of the other little ones in less than 2 minutes giving me a 5 star post-battle rating and my growth egg...good shit!
Every time even with sentinel and med first attacks are all on vanilla fml and she dies even tho I have 8000 health maxed malboro wand 2x weird glyph both maxed and maxed champs belt
one more paradigm, med, sen, syn...use aegisol and fortisol b4 battle...
so it is a low level party...i farm a lil bit of CP after barthandelus battle to get this stats
apart from death on neochu, the hardest part is the saplings. kill at least two of them before buffs ends, or it will become horrible
summon is no no, vanille will die..use combat clinic, and once all are green health, use entourage to let hope buff protects...if anything goes bad, renew...i finished the battle in 8 minutes :)

Guys, have lionheart equiped (with random: Instant chain enabled - look it up) on light and spam ruinga with Fang to kill the little ones, then just use COM/RAV/SEN with Snow as the sentinel and light will eventually stagger neochu, then switch to COM/COM/COM to tear him to pieces :)
NO no no.. death spam is not working for me.. i 5 star this w/o using death spam anyway.. just like to share that 1 alternative is using Instant stagger ability.
1st - syn syn sen
2nd- com sen med
3rd- blitz all the way to those seedlings till dead
4th- com sen com (the 2 com must have the instant stagger ability)
5th- com com com (if luck is in your side, the neochu will get staggered, 2m hp is so like 2 turns with fang on the team)
You said that you did this as a low level, What were your levels and equipment at when you did this? The bastard keeps killing me on one shot before i even have a chance to pull of Death, its really annoying lol.

@xxxRaKixxx Comparing the chocobo race 0.0 time task in FFX to this is an insult. Achieving that time was the hardest challenge I have ever done in a game and ever will.
@Phaiyte well done for that, cause the makers of Final Fantasy XII can kiss my ass if they expect me to dodge 200 lightning botls. I wasn't able to defeat Penance even with getting the Sun Sigil though. So I guess you doing those 2 extra tasks paid off then. I was able to defeat all the Dark Aeons though.
@SonsoftheProphets Well, you only really need Tidus, Rikku, and Wakka for any high level gameplay like that. The other members are honestly just a waste of time. Blitzball's pretty gay though and took forever to get Wakka's weapon out of it.
I must've tried this 5-10 times, and finally I got a battle where death not only connected, but connected the first time I used it... Pretty limited-utility item though - spend a few hours grinding bombs with it, and you're done. Gold Watch lasted a little longer, I suppose, but I'm done with that too...
I did this method, but because I didn't put on any good paragims for combatting, I just summoned Vanilles Summon and it killed a few of those little buggers and left like 2 left with the tiniest amount of health. :D
Brilliant guide. Manged to pull off death in second attempt, but facepalmed after seeing how easy those tiny ones were, and for not making a more offensive paradigm than Med, Med, Commando. Anyways, finished in 2:24 battle duration, 5 beautiful stars (thankfully, as this would be lame having to redo), and last but not least, the growth egg :D
Death finally worked for me after about half an hour. It was lucky because I was about to give up and decided to try one last time. Then it worked! The hard part was actually killing those frickin little pests that keep bashing you. I was constantly healing and kept spamming Vanille's Death move on them until it worked on them as well. The whole battle lasted probably about a good hour for me but it was worth it :) CP builds up like crazy if you use that precious growth egg!
This battle is simply luck....I did it over and over for an hour without one death hit, then quit out of frustration. The next day, I woke up and tried it and it worked on the first try.
spammed death till it killed all but 1 then killed him normally, only the big guy and 1 other died from the effect yet still got 5 stars ..... after 16 min of pure death

good place for farming cp with the growth egg is at northern expanse, that king behemoth fighting the megistotheron (or w/e)...easy 6600 w/o growth egg and 13200 w/ growth egg...i kill them in 9 seconds (on average)...so major cp farm time soon. 5* if i kill it today, if not 0* :P j/k 5***
This battle took me quite a few tries to get through. Luck seemed to be on my side on my last attempt, because I was able to bring that bad boy down by spamming Death five times. I was pretty shocked and immediately rejoiced -- but then I remembered that I also had those Picochus to take care of. XD
My Belladona Wand was on star level and I didn't even need to upgrade it up to Malboro Wand to get better chances.
with Malboro wand lv 32 I think and Fortisol, at chapter 13 with most crystarium maxed, this enemy kicks Vanilla's ass in like 5-6 seconds. She has about 6000 HP. What am I doing wrong?
@luckytrifle if your vanille has 6k hp with cryst maxed and fortisol you have a problem , i have tier 10 half complete and she has 11-12 k hp ( including a plat and diamond bangle)
@TheBlitzkriegking Eventually killed it, it's very luck-tied though. I had to equip Vanille with lots of HP increasing accessories and max the Malboro Wand. That made death hit at the second time I retried the battle. The picochus are to be feared after though. You need a paradigm with at least a healer and a sentinel for them.

how can you fill the ATB gauge that fast?? I have the synthesized abilities of atb speed + 30% and when i cast haste my gauge doesn't fill as fast as yours :S

becouse when i get 1 trapzohedrn i maxed out Belladonna Wand into nivarna and dismantled it for 3 trapzhodren and i used all of the money to give lighting omega weapon. and my characters have 10000 HP average.
i thought i'd try and be cool and beat it old fashioned way, so five mins into battle i'm doin pretty well, then i'm like damn i need to peepee so i'm like ugh i'll try death with vanille. then BOOOM the thing is dead and i get to go pee faster LOL

I'm trying this setup on Neochu in the challenges of Titan, but Death never cast. My stats are way higher than yours, that's strange. I have over 10 000 HP for each character, then i can stand up for a long time. I tried Death with all buffs and debuf ON (only imperil seems to catch him though), during 30 minutes....nothing. :(
I guess i just have to keep trying, that's pure luck.
This is taking me so freakin long to do! I have everything in order, its just that v's death wont work!

what I did whas using Vanille/Lightning/Snow and the set ups: SAB/MED/SEN and RAV/MED/SEN with the equips Sprint shoes on all (can be replaced with an pre-casted item) and then 2 Sorceress Mark Stared on Van and Light and 2 Black Belt Stared on Snow, also make sure that Van and Light got 4500+ hp and snow 6500+

This monster is so strong.. I keep dying.. I just got lucky when i cast death at the start of the battle.. He died.. Haha.. I spam death to it until i die.. And reload/retry, same thing again.. I use Sab/Med/Sen with the use of shrouds.. I got 5 stars rating at the battle afterwards..

Tried Death for the very first time on this 2 million+ health bitch and killed him instantly then took care of the other little ones in less than 2 minutes giving me a 5 star post-battle rating and my growth egg...good shit!

one more paradigm, med, sen, syn...use aegisol and fortisol b4 battle...
so it is a low level party...i farm a lil bit of CP after barthandelus battle to get this stats
apart from death on neochu, the hardest part is the saplings. kill at least two of them before buffs ends, or it will become horrible
summon is no no, vanille will die..use combat clinic, and once all are green health, use entourage to let hope buff protects...if anything goes bad, renew...i finished the battle in 8 minutes :)

Guys, have lionheart equiped (with random: Instant chain enabled - look it up) on light and spam ruinga with Fang to kill the little ones, then just use COM/RAV/SEN with Snow as the sentinel and light will eventually stagger neochu, then switch to COM/COM/COM to tear him to pieces :)

NO no no.. death spam is not working for me.. i 5 star this w/o using death spam anyway.. just like to share that 1 alternative is using Instant stagger ability.
1st - syn syn sen
2nd- com sen med
3rd- blitz all the way to those seedlings till dead
4th- com sen com (the 2 com must have the instant stagger ability)
5th- com com com (if luck is in your side, the neochu will get staggered, 2m hp is so like 2 turns with fang on the team)

I got so pissed at those bastard little picochus and screech... i felt like beating someone up... XD Its so weird that when I stop trying death works... took me at least 10 retries...same thing happend to me in FFX with the chocobo race.... I just stopped trying then got 0.0

@Phaiyte well done for that, cause the makers of Final Fantasy XII can kiss my ass if they expect me to dodge 200 lightning botls. I wasn't able to defeat Penance even with getting the Sun Sigil though. So I guess you doing those 2 extra tasks paid off then. I was able to defeat all the Dark Aeons though.

@SonsoftheProphets Well, you only really need Tidus, Rikku, and Wakka for any high level gameplay like that. The other members are honestly just a waste of time. Blitzball's pretty gay though and took forever to get Wakka's weapon out of it.

I must've tried this 5-10 times, and finally I got a battle where death not only connected, but connected the first time I used it... Pretty limited-utility item though - spend a few hours grinding bombs with it, and you're done. Gold Watch lasted a little longer, I suppose, but I'm done with that too...

I did this method, but because I didn't put on any good paragims for combatting, I just summoned Vanilles Summon and it killed a few of those little buggers and left like 2 left with the tiniest amount of health. :D

Brilliant guide. Manged to pull off death in second attempt, but facepalmed after seeing how easy those tiny ones were, and for not making a more offensive paradigm than Med, Med, Commando. Anyways, finished in 2:24 battle duration, 5 beautiful stars (thankfully, as this would be lame having to redo), and last but not least, the growth egg :D

Death finally worked for me after about half an hour. It was lucky because I was about to give up and decided to try one last time. Then it worked! The hard part was actually killing those frickin little pests that keep bashing you. I was constantly healing and kept spamming Vanille's Death move on them until it worked on them as well. The whole battle lasted probably about a good hour for me but it was worth it :) CP builds up like crazy if you use that precious growth egg!

This battle is simply luck....I did it over and over for an hour without one death hit, then quit out of frustration. The next day, I woke up and tried it and it worked on the first try.

@yflashinglights get snow and have him in sentinel ALWAYS with hope as medic ALWAYS
after you kill neochu, you can switch to rav/sen/med or stay sab/syn/med to take out each picochu.
occasionally switch to med/sen/syn to let hope protect and haste everyone, and you spam heal

good place for farming cp with the growth egg is at northern expanse, that king behemoth fighting the megistotheron (or w/e)...easy 6600 w/o growth egg and 13200 w/ growth egg...i kill them in 9 seconds (on average)...so major cp farm time soon. 5* if i kill it today, if not 0* :P j/k 5***

This battle took me quite a few tries to get through. Luck seemed to be on my side on my last attempt, because I was able to bring that bad boy down by spamming Death five times. I was pretty shocked and immediately rejoiced -- but then I remembered that I also had those Picochus to take care of. XD
My Belladona Wand was on star level and I didn't even need to upgrade it up to Malboro Wand to get better chances.

with Malboro wand lv 32 I think and Fortisol, at chapter 13 with most crystarium maxed, this enemy kicks Vanilla's ass in like 5-6 seconds. She has about 6000 HP. What am I doing wrong?

@luckytrifle if your vanille has 6k hp with cryst maxed and fortisol you have a problem , i have tier 10 half complete and she has 11-12 k hp ( including a plat and diamond bangle)

@TheBlitzkriegking Eventually killed it, it's very luck-tied though. I had to equip Vanille with lots of HP increasing accessories and max the Malboro Wand. That made death hit at the second time I retried the battle. The picochus are to be feared after though. You need a paradigm with at least a healer and a sentinel for them.

If you need to use Death again, debuff the enemy as each debuff increases the chance of Death to hit by 1%

I JUST BEAT HIM!!!!!!!! XD took 16:44 but it was SSSSSOOOOOO worth it. Sad part about it was I took out the big guy in a couple of turns. Those lil ones are some @#$%^&'s!!!!! omg they just kept coming. no way in hell should I have even tried this mission prolly, my highest hp was Snow w/ 5840 heeheehee *moonwalks away*

I'm trying this setup on Neochu in the challenges of Titan, but Death never cast. My stats are way higher than yours, that's strange. I have over 10 000 HP for each character, then i can stand up for a long time. I tried Death with all buffs and debuf ON (only imperil seems to catch him though), during 30 minutes....nothing. :(
I guess i just have to keep trying, that's pure luck.
