  • Cannot believe this song has been done 30 years ago. By the way, so nice work mate. From Japan

  • Too much time... But it's still alive.

  • nice work pal.

  • Brilliant!!!

  • Tell your sister that Stewart Copeland better start looking for a job!

  • Well done!

  • really very good video! Congratulations :)

  • way to go..You've got talent...

  • "Life was easy, when it was boring"... "May you live in interesting times..." Thank you.

  • Very nice job you did! I like the black and white.

  • Christ where did the last 30 years go? I had just turned 21 and had the world by the balls. A long time fried had turned me on to The Police shortly before this album was released.

    Seems like only yesterday.......

Enjoy your youth before it slips away.

  • Really cool. One of my favorite police songs.

  • Nice job, man

  • This was awesome. I hadn't heard this song in years and for some reason it just popped in my head. I'm really glad it did.

  • cool,very very cool,did i say cool.

  • I could listen to this song over and over for the rest of my life.

  • DCAB me too

  • @WATERVLOG same here

  • Great job, guys.

  • É a canção mais sensacional do the Police.

  • The percussion sounds like thunderclaps...

  • Hey, this was REALLY good! You guys did a great job. I enjoyed it very much!!

  • nice video ..........really well done

  • nice video, really well done to you

  • love the music. i can play this on piano but i need two other people playing drums & bass with me unless i was to play it all myself & dub it with each instrument, like my bro Prince does....

  • brilliant video. Totally fantastic. Really really well done.

  • I was obsessed with the keyboards in this song, used to play over and over.

  • I love that some youth today really get the music of the early 80's. It really was an awesome time for music;) keep up the great work!

  • Love the work u did! Amo el trabajo que hiciste! salutes from Uruguay!!!

  • Instead of worrying about my clothes I could be someone that nobody knows.

The lyric is BORING not pouring.

Sounds like pouring because of the musical references to rain, remember those boring rainy days when you couldn't go out to play and there was nothing to do, and mum would say " I wish I had time to be bored"

  • Written by Stewart Copeland

I can dream up schemes when I'm sitting in my seat

I don't see any flaws 'til I get to my feet

I wish I never woke up this morning

Life was easy when it was boring

I could make a mark if it weren't so dark

I could be replaced by any bright spark

    But darkness makes me fumble

For a key, to a door that's wide open

  • @john35acts238 thank u 4 the lyrics, i thought i had it right but reading this made me realize i made up some of my own lyrics cuz i didnt quite hear it right. kudos

  • maravillosa canción, no me canso de oírla...

  • Great tribute to one of the greatest songs ever.

  • Such a soothing song. Always makes me feel better after listening.

  • Brilliant video!! I really liked it, and it transmits the "darkness" of the song. Very good!!:-)

  • Very good. note to Sis :) Copeland uses traditional grip, would have been great if that small detail would have been included. I do believe HE wrote that song, and not Sting. Overall I love it! AAAAA+++++

  • uh he says life was easy when it was pouring not boring

  • @trustjab Sorry, but it's boring. Check the lyrics.

  • WOW... Sting should pay you for this. NICE WORK. I had the original cassette too, I played it so much it broke after almost 20 years.

  • Wow! This is great! I've always loved this song and this video fits very well.

  • hahah the kid with the drumsticks! perfect for the song!

  • Great job!

Next, I would like to see you making a video for Omegaman from the same album!

  • ghost in the machine was my first cassette i remember buying with a sony walkman , awsome band and nice sound.

  • Dude! .....Your video absolutely Rocks! ...Good work.

  • awsome band awsome sound my first tape when i was a teen ghost in the machine i bought with a sony walkman lol good times

  • One of the best songs from the Police. Very sad but very beautiful.

  • deep

  • very creative video. Nice job. Sometimes I wish I had never woken up this morning because life was easy when it was boring and I wouldn't mind being replaced by any bright spark.

  • das waren noch zeiten!

  • Hey kids, you did a great work with this video.

    Congratxxxx.

I love this Darkness song too.

  • Great sounds in this vid!

  • That's actually a pretty damned cool video.

  • Respect... and thank you!

  • one of the best songs Copeland ever wrote. Andy and Stewart were good songwriters but the record company always went with Sting's music because it was more Pop to generated more money. A lot of those Sting songs were borderline mediocre and they could have put Andy and Stewart songs in their place

  • inspired!

  • Good work, guys!

  • What a great idea from you to make this video !.

  • well done young man

  • Gloomy, depressive but so beautyful.

  • Thanks for uploading!

  • This has got to be the Police's best song--as simple as it is--and you did a great job with the video!

  • wicked song. dude you look like the young forrest gump from the movie.

  • youve got a lot of talent , really you could end up doig this for a living... imagine al the great bands you coul work for...its also a favorite of mine, (darkness) .first time i heard it was when i baught the cd some years back...the song litterally glued to my conscience. like if it came towards me, like if it belonged there.

  • i LOVE your sister playing the chair. stuart ALWAYS used to find strange places to play... such as... a rocket ship HAHA... well played.

  • The Police didn't make a video for this fantastic song... so you deserve all the credit, well done!!!

  • Fantastic video, video molto bello sembra fatto da un professionista proprio per i Police

  • Nice!!!

  • This song is a classic from the 80's. Only The Police could have made a song like this noone sounded like them.

  • Cool video, I love this song.

  • Just as I thought my day couldn't get any worse. Then I watched this vid.....I feel happy again.

  • The Star Wars kid has nothing on you.

  • You did a great job with the video. This is my favorite song by the Police. Thanks for making it better.

  • first listening of this song...very impressive and cool video! If I hadn't read info I'd think this was the original video! Congrat to you and to your little sister she's so cute with that stick-stool drum set! :) peace

  • Nice job, I love it...thanks for giving life to such a song

  • I though i was the police video for real , pro work men if we where at 80 this will be a MTV award for sure

  • One of my favorite Police tunes. Excellent job on the video.

  • Nice video.Love this underrated gem of a song

  • You are a real filmmaker!!! Excellent work. Nice editing, use of effects, cinematography...and writing. You are going places!!! Keep-up the great work!!!!!

  • this is great, black and white fits the mood..nicely done..and this is my fav police tune..so take the compliment

  • This is incredible! Congratulations! You have really succeeded in making this great song even a little bit better. But I somehow feel there's something missing in this video - a clock. Somehow I see the hands of a clock moving when listening to this song.

But nevertheless: An astounding piece of art, it truely is!!!

  • Wow, thank you so much for this! "Darkness" is one of my favourite Police songs and it's nice to see someone giving credit to it.

You did an amazing job with this vid!! The atmosphere you created is perfect for the song. I also love how you used Sting's look from the "Every Breath You Take" vid.

  • que buen video ryan,te felicito.

  • The first time I hear this song was a cover by the argentinan reggae band "los pericos" I just luv it".

    dude you are a j

    gifted person freakin cool vdo.

  • Excellent work! One of my favorite songs and an appealing interpretation. Keep on keeping on!

  • sting ,,diggin that bass line

  • great feel to the visuals.wonderfully understated.good enough for national tv broadcasting.keep on keeping on.

    regards.

    SPACED99

  • i like it !

  • Good job. I wouldnt have translated the lyrics so literally though. Then again i've never been big on concept videos.

  • dear Ryan and dea Ryan's sister,

i pretty much enjoyed this video of yours.

i think it is very artificial and tres elegante.

this is also a fovaourite song from that album and i'd sung it myself in an ambient surrounding

just like yours...must have been the late eighties...

thx for sharing this with us,

    alexander. federal republic of germany

  • I love this song

  • Have they ever did this song in concert ??/ This is one of my favorite Police songs !!!! I've seen them twice on the synchronicity tour and the reunion tour !1

  • it's very sad that the songs like darkness (it's by stewart copeland) don't have a music video because thy aren't by sting or are not famous. you've made a great job

  • Songs dont NEED videos. You should paint your own picture.

  • A touch of Lynch. Great job.

  • REAL pro job of it guys!! :D - Gonna subscribe!

Nice to see the younger peeps luvin' da old skewl..........lol

  • FANTASTIC job, you two! Just searched for the song today & found this. Good luck with future endeavors!

  • @blundy123 this song is my fav. police song only the real fans know it. it will be never played by the radiostations !!!

  • This was one of my top Police songs back in the day...and after not hearing it for a while it reminds me why.

Excellent choice of a song matey, great job...goes to my favs list straight away

  • Dude, You are GREAT!

I am actually old enough to have seen The Police play "Darkness" live in concert.

You did a righteous job with this Video.

Keep going, you have real talent!

  • Dude, you need to get into video editing, seriously!!!! Great song and great work you did. Very, very, nice job!!!

  • :21 girl reminds me of kid playing drums in the Don Henley vid "Boys Of Summer". Stewart Copeland could actually write a good song!

  • brilliant!!

  • I like it

  • Very nice for home-made.

  • Great job!!

  • two thumps up very well done! good thought to do it in b/w. best thing to me was the idea to put the shades on with "i could be someone that nobody knows.." :)))

also the image of u laying on the floor with "life was easy when it was boring.." was very nice.

    keep up that good work!!!

  • you're right, I thought this was like a real official video...

it's hilarious though, by the way.

  • What an asshole you are......ever think that this may reflect this guys thoughts in the present day ??? - why dont you get off your fucking redneck ass and try and do better...lets face it...we wont hold our breath....we'd be waiting a hell of a long fucking time

  • sorry forgot about the video... really appropriate, very romantic, sweetly dark . I agree good job

  • yeah... always a pleasure, even after such a long time. I remember it was the last track on the vinile... 27 years ago

  • Incredible....simply incredible

  • bello il video. semplice e diretto.

la canzone del resto è tra le mie preferite dei police.

  • maravilhoso

  • Very watchable. Good job!

  • Godley & Creme had better watch out! Very good video.

  • Wow, amazing job! Nice work on capturing that dark Police vibe. The mood and imagery in the video were very apropos.

  • When I first saw this vid I thought it was a the Police official one, which seemed strange but it was cool.

One of my top The Police songs, thanks for posting it

  • "life was easy when it was boring." yup!

  • That's the darkness video for me. My second favorite song off Ghost after Every Little Thing. Well done Ryan. Love the girl on the chair juxtaposed with Stewart. Top Marks.

  • Even if it's homemade it really seems an official video

  • You hit the nail right on the head. I LOVE THIS!!!

I seriously can't explain how close to my own mental images of this song your video is - and I'm 36! You give me hope, man. Keep up the good work!

  • "Darkness" captured the essence of The Police sound.Stewart's master performance on drums(the trademark of the group and of this song),Andy's distinctive & exceptional guitar perfomance & Sting's incomparable vocals(couldn't sound better). This is one of their best songs on their musical catalog,a gem not realized as a single, but perhaps the more loyal to The Police sound on the "Ghost In The Machine" album.Ryan, you got future on the film industry! Thanks for this awesome piece of art!Excelent!

  • This is exactly how I pictured the music video being.

    Nice job.

  • Muy bueno el video... pero es el original?

  • Beautifully shot, I love this song and I made my own video of it but I really love your take on it. Well done! :)

  • man, you did a great job with this. i'm a huge Police fan. im putting this in my favs!

  • I cant Stop Listening To It!!!!! I Am In Love With It!!!!

  • I'm delighted to hear this song get the recognition it deserves. My favorite Police tune too :)

  • Great song

I Thing The Best on Gost in a Machine

Stewart has talent (Hi wrote that)

  • this song was so awesome.....my friends used to wonder why i liked it. but it is truly a deep song, you really have to pay attention to the lyrics...

  • Best song off the album and great job directing this. That must be your little sister. You should stay with film as your career!

  • Ah yes, I see, you are :)

  • Incredible....simply incredible

  • Great job, Ryan! Easily one of The Police's most underrated songs. I love Sting, but Stewart wrote a gem of a song. I always thought I was the only one who loved this song this much. Keep up the good work!

  • "BRAVO,for your bravery !!!!!"Happy Easter

  • Very Nice!!!!! Very Cool!!!!!!!!!!

  • I don't need the darkness in my life, but this a totally underrated POLICE song! How can it be,over 25 years ?? For me was it the best(and the band had many brilliant songs).THANKS TO RYANPRODUCTIONS FOR THE EXCELLENT CLIP ! good job

  • nice job! love this song, it deserved an official video, Stewarts a great composer as well as the best rock drummer ever. (IMHO)

  • perfect song

  • wow, claustrophelia i am also 43 and this was my favorite. Me and my girl freind at the time wore this song out. Stewart is also a gifted song writer, but here this song brings back alot of memorys. thanks Ryan and great job!!!

  • Nice job buddy. the edition is simple and nice, but the best part is the production. Congrats!!!!

  • wow

    man your video is excellent!!!!!

    seriously

at first, before reading the your description i really thought it was polices videoclip

    well done man

  • Seriously, man, it's mega :D

Are you a specialist in directing :D ?

  • Yeah Muppet I think its pretty obvious he's a specialist...

    What a question.....duh !!

  • When I was your age (cue sfx of creaking rocking chair) I went to sleep to this song every night as it was the final track on the album while pining and swooning away for my first girlfriend. We dated for four years and went our seperate ways but just saw each other for the first time in 20 years this past summer. I'm 43 now and just thought of this song to sing to my daughters and found your vid...well done young feller!

  • I could be replaced by any bright spark brilliant. Where is this music now?

  • All the songs Stewart wrote for the police were great and unique, all of them - I love his artistic ideas.

  • I think Stewart Copeland wrote this tune ! Very nice !

  • This is a cool video! And though I love all their songs, this is one of my favorites. I think it is great that you are familiar with a song like this, and the band. You seem a little older than I when the album was released! I love these guys..Nice fade in and outs..sounds like the career for you! fabulous.

  • Very well done young man. I'm sorry you can relate, but maybe it's a blessing in disguise.

  • I just noticed that...that was a pretty cool trick at 2:16. I'm sure Sting would be proud indeed. :)

That was from the video to "Every Breath You Take." One of my favorite songs ever. Not sure how you superimposed it, but cool trick. It fits.

  • Monkcr...The Police broke up long before he was even born! So yeah, it is very impressive! They were almost before my time too. I was too young to go to any of their concerts back then, but I vaguely remembered their songs being on the radio in the early and mid-1980s. I did have a Synchronicity album on record when I was little...but by the time I was old enough to really appreciate their music, they had already long since broken up. I was still a major fan though.

  • they r back together and r on tour right now

  • No shit.

  • Very good video, here in Santiago de chile missing 3 days for the concert of THE POLICE with 60,000 thousand people IN SANTIAGO, CHILE, goodbye friend.

  • Some emo kid and his ugly sister make a loser video to an awesome song. Thanks, Police.

  • I think it's cool that some emo kid and sister even know this song exsists.

  • Actually, KahunTony, I think the video was very well done. And I've been a Police fan since I was a little kid...long before you. It is cool that this kid even knows this song. This wasn't one of their better known songs. I never heard it on the radio or anywhere, only when I got a box set.

  • Oh yeah, well dracula called. He's coming over tonight!

  • eh??

  • TONIGHT. YOU.

  • Actually I'm 63 years old.

  • AWESOME song ,"Does every one stare" is great too!!

  • Incredible job!Its about time that song finally gets the recognition it deserves.Great job kid, keep doin what youre doing cause its good!! kudos to Stewart for writing it!!

  • AMAZING JOB WELL DONE!

This is one of my favorite police songs.

Your skills at music video are High Quality.

I expected nothing and got a Great Video. Thanks

  • well, that was fantastic.......the song has always been a favourite of mine (41yr old)...but what a great clip. Ryan, you and your sister should be congratulated.

  • Just emailed Andy Summers website with the link to this - I figured Andy is more accessible... Maybe others could do the same or spread the news some similiar way... this kid deserves a break...
