60Gig Ps3 Backward compatibility goes bad ?

only the earliest 20gb ps3s have both the ps2 emotion engine and graphics synthesisor. how do you spell that. Anyway the 60gb models and further only has the Graphics synthesisor and it uses software emulator to emulate the EE. Later the GS was removed to save money and it made ps2 emulation impossible

Just curious, is this a 1st generation (60gb or 20gb NTSC), or 2nd generation (80gb NTSC/60GB PAL) PS3? The second generation (as sony started to cut costs) use software emulation to emulate the CPU (leaving only the GPU from the PS2 intact) to save costs...was wondering if this is an emulation problem or hardware.

Those are graphic artficats that I see even on my PC when my graphics card gets a bit hot from overclocks.

If it does it right away from the start of a PS2 game only (no "warm up, then fuck up" time) and not a ps3 game,

Then I'd say you have a model of the Ps3 with the EE and the Cell processor.

As well as the RSX (ps3) and GS (ps2)

and the GS (ps2's gpu) is dead on your ps3.

Newer models do not have the EE/GS.

Only the Cell/RSX.

just use a ps2. they were MADE for the ps2, i mean backwards compatability is nice, but hell, you might even be able to run windows xp on there then use an emulator to play the game.

Thanks for all your reply, The glitch went away after a lot of trial, restart, boxing over the ps3 housing, on off switch, and reboot ! and now the problem is back bigger than ever after 2 hours of play ! I think there a cold solder joint on my ps2 chip !

reason sony has now ditched backward ps2 compatibility

1. it's broken

2. they can't fix it

3. it makes the PS3 look bad

4. they want to sell you individual games for download that they playtest to make sure they work right so the ps3 doesn't look like a sack of shit

sony make promises they can never keep.. they have a reputation for this

Have you updated your ps3 firmware? I have played through this entire game glitch free on my ps3. The only game out of all my games that doesnt work perfectly is jack and daxter 1. All 70 odd other games work fine!
