  • It should've started with,

"A child was born in Lumbini, which is now in a small country called Nepal, situated in between China and India"

  • The movie sais in the beginning ANCIENT INDIA... at the time of gautama buddha that part of nepal was part of india

  • @shantiprana no nepal was called kirat at and indias name was i think either Bharata and a much older name is from the indus valley, both routed to the word hindu.

nepal is the modern day name such as the word india is indias modern day name

  • sorry bbut the movie is clear, BUdda was born in Nepal, when the kid is the bathtube said that

  • in this movie it says buddha was born in india.. bt in fact buddha was born in Lumbini, a part of Nepal.

  • em sory bt in this movie it says buddha is frm india bt buddha was born in LUMBINI a part of Nepal...

  • Is Keanu Reeves actor in this movie?

  • The end of the goat story is that, as the priest refused to kill her after hearing her story, she decided to kill herself and jumped in a precipice

  • That movie is so magical!!!

  • Haven't seen that film in a while. This is great!

  • Thumbs up for watching a decent movie without creating an unwarranted religious debate...

  • argue about religion won't make us become mohammad or Buddha, maybe now Buddha and Mohammad are enjoying tea together in somewhere we don't know, maybe it is Nirvana or heaven.so there is no point for us to argue about religion, agree bros?

  • behind every one theres is a god and his name siva

    & parvathi

  • Little buddha was born in nepal not in india....its fake dude .....why do u lie to people...

  • Good movie.

  • Sogyal Rinpoche great actor :)

  • We first moved into our home about 12 years ago and for the first time ever since the 21-05-2011 which was supposed to be judgement day, we have had a Beautiful White Dove come to our garden and it is so friendly it even eats from our hands & stood on my brothers hand whilst eating seeds…My fathers says that this White Dove is the one on my book “The Reason” and that it has come to life!!!! (Leyla Ergun)

  • I hope all spiritual seekers will help stop animal sacrifice as millions of helpless animals are being killed to satisfy our ego (hunting sports), taste buds and bellies. We are slowly killing all the animals and in the end killing ourselves also. Animals are sentient beings and part of God's creation. Vegetariansm is the right path and the diet for this day/age. Animals deserve to be treated with love and humaneness. All true religion teach Compassion and Non-violence, include animals too !

  • 这老喇嘛是英若诚先生演的???

  • lol i was searching for the world shortest man hes called little budah and i came across this movie lmao

  • I just saw this on TV the other night. But I miss the whole thing in the beginning part.

  • @amycallie123 lol this is not twitter AMY.

  • @subhrag dude may be u follow wrong concept Nepal was never colonize by any country nor british so once again read the history.

  • Buddha, Jesus, Mohammad and Moses were great teachers

    One Love

  • @uncleruckus714 - This might be politically correct. But is it also really correct to name Buddha and Mohammed in the same breath?

  • @uncleruckus714 Muslim here! Totally agree!

  • @hakun85 Muslim here too. No argument!

  • @uncleruckus714 yes mee too, totally agree with u.....

  • @uncleruckus714 righteous.. WORLD PEACE.. *not in a pageant kinda way tho.. lol

  • not mohammad...he was trash

  • @arc1342 i feel sorry for ur words. A muslim never uses such language for any other religion but i am sorry to say that people like u use bad language for Muhammad.

If u respect Buddha then try to follow his teachings. Buddha never said to hate anyone. If you are a Christian then follow the teachings of Jesus Christ as Christ said never to hate anyone and i don't think you have respect for either of them.

  • @Mo00nlight

i know a muslim never uses words like that...they just blow you up, cut of your head or rape your wife and take your 9 year old children av their wifes...

  • @arc1342 well i don't want to comment on what you said since your knowledge is very limited in this regard and your views about Muslims are narrows. It's not your fault what concept you gained about Muslims because your mind is fed with such ideas and also by the anti Islamic propaganda played by western media. But the same people who are painting the picture of Muslims very dark don't want to comment on their own deeds that how brutally they have been killing Muslims in their countries.

  • @Mo00nlight

my knowlege is not limited...i was raised in a muslim country...there you are forced to study the quran...and thats were i found out that the prophet was fake..ex...the prophet said that all magic is from satan..but then one of his wifes reported that he levitated one day and was talking with him self...and if you have so much knowlege you know that if you talk with your self your eather crazy or satan...prophets youngest wife was 9 years old.i can go on and on about why islam is BS

  • @arc1342 you have to grow up more to understand what you are talking about. Well if Islam is the second largest religion of the world it must have certain appeal in it. If it's so evil in your eyes then why it's the second largest religion of the world?

By the way i understood that you are either a Sikh or a Hindu.

  • @Mo00nlight

you know why its the second bigest in the world?...becouse most muslim countrys are 2. or 3. world so they birth many children... many get 4 wifes and have many children with all of them...average 5children in non arabic countrys...and 7 in arabic...and some african countrys 12 children like somalia(stastic from 2000)and if you leave the muslim faith your penalty is death...hanging or decapitated..if your girl stoned...thats why its the second largest...cuz its by force!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @arc1342 you are too young to understand anything. Well the Muslim country from where Islam originated has a very low population as compared to many other countries. Same is true with all middle eastern countries that their population is very low as compared to other countries. The biggest population concentration is in India and China or you can say in South Asian belt where China, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh etc lie. How many Indian Muslims are having 4 wives? Can u explain that?

  • i didnt point out any nationalety.i said manny.most in arabic countrys,im sure many indians have more than 1 wife.and i know people from other asian countrys who have more than 1 wife and manny children.your arguments are simply to poor.and my age has nothing to do with my knowlege about a religion...the younger one is the sharper, your BS might have some house bitches fooled but i understand how things are run, i know the cracks in the mind wich religion takes advantege of

  • @arc1342 well i don't argue with an ignorant like you who has learnt nothing from his own religion then what to expect that you could have learnt about other religions. Your limited brain can only see negative aspect of religion Islam because your IQ is that limited that it even can't think that India is one of the most poorest and most populous countries in the world where people can't even afford two times meal then how can Indian Muslims afford two or more wives?

  • @arc1342 You lived in a Muslim country and there u were forced to read the Quran, how strange because even Muslims are not forced to read Quran by any athourity or police. What country you are talking about? As a non Muslim you are not forced to follow any Islamic rituals or practices. You are free to lead your life as a Christian, Hindu, Sikh or Buddhist or any other religion u belong to.Were u forced by a stick to read Quran?

I am sick and tired of reading hate comments against religion Islam.

  • wtf are you talking about you fucking idiot...you think your just free to be a non islamic in Iran or saudi arabia when your born into a muslim familly?!..you are in Australia, wtf do you know!!! and in the other countrys if you dont whant to be a muslim you are X comunicated by friends and familly...there is no point in talking with you...you are brainwashed..even if god comes down and says Quran is bullshit you ll not belive him...you rather belive the guy with the beard in the mosqe

  • @arc1342 you are not forced to practice Islam if you are a non muslim living in Iran or Saudi Arabia. You just have to follow their customs like women wearing Hijab etc but you are not forced to read Quran. You are misguiding people here. As a non muslim you are free to practice your own religion in any Islamic country. I am from Pakistan and there is a huge number of Christians living there who are free to practice their own religion. Even Buddhists, Sikhs and Hindus are free to live there.

  • this is were you are wrong my friend.the stuff that Irans government or S arabia tells the media are not true.if a case of a person like me rises in iran/s arabia the secret police thugs will come and take you to evin prison.i didnt say that christians or jew or whatever cant practise their faith, i said that people are forced to be muslim just becouse they were born into a muslim bloodline. misguiding is when u effect people based on lies.these are not lies, these are the truth................

  • and i chalenge anyone who dosent belive that islam is barbaric...to go read the quran...and if this book was writen by god...then he is a rapist, murderer, sexist and pedophile and i will go jump off a bridge cuz i dont want to live under that god

  • @arc1342 Shut the fuck up racist arsehole! Go and spread your hate to people who actually care! what gives you the right to criticize and belittle a religion!? Do you follow any religion yourself?? How would you feel if some ignorant cunt start attacking your religion for no reason!? No wonder there is so much hate in the world when there so many fuckers out there like you who perpetuate it!

  • Comment removed

  • @arc1342 There is only one God - everyone refers to HIM via a different name - and he's watching the likes of you. Karma is a bitch - remember that.

  • @Mo00nlight

and pakistan has a beatiful history and colture...i dont understand why you want to sell it all out with a arabic colture, wich is barbaric and non peaceful

  • @arc1342 Pakistan and India share the same beautiful culture and history. Once all parts of Northern Pakistan and Afghanistan practised Buddhism can you believe that? Now they are fundamentalist Muslims. Our past generations might be either Hindus or Buddhist but now we are Muslims for generations and now it's our way of life. Talibans have set bad example for religion Islam otherwise Islam is a great religion.

  • @Mo00nlight You forgot to mention that your also free to be bludgeoned to death with big fuckin rocks when you don't follow the "doctrines." Honestly, flush out your head gear and lose the brainwashing. The fact that you people have to keep your women covered from head to toe so they don't inspire lust. This speaks volumes of your lack of self-control. But then again had we not bought your oil, your people would still be tilling with a horse-drawn plow!!!

  • @TheAllchemist You are badly mistaken here that had you not bought our oil we would still be tiling horse drawn ploughs. Perhaps you forgot to realize that all Abrahamic religions took place in the land of Arabs inculding Judism, Christianity and Islam. None of the religion which western world follows took place on their own land. The middle eastern prophets enlightened the whole humanity with wisdom and knowledege. Arab literature and language is considered one of the richest in the world.

  • @TheAllchemist perhaps u forgot to realize that the modern Algerbra and Astrology was based on the findings of Muslim mathematicians.U forgot to realize that the world's oldest civilizations took place in the valley of Nile.Infact the world's first civilization took place in the land of Sumeria which is now called Iraq.During that time India existed nowhere. If u think that Muslims are nothing without oil then u r badly mistaken.Muslims conquered the world whereas Indian remained the slaves.

  • @uncleruckus714 but jesus is the savior

  • @uncleruckus714 this isnt the bahai faith, yuno

  • @saulwilliams56 I don't care, I'm not into religon but I'm very spiritual

  • @uncleruckus714 i think its daft that you can entertain thoughts that mohammed or moses and the buddha can be placed in the same boat.

  • @saulwilliams56 I see them as teachers of spirituality

  • @uncleruckus714 : Please Don't ever compare Jesus Christ with anyone. Jesus Christ died for our sins....

  • @floraram1 That maybe, but he still taught us unity just as Buddha & other religious people

  • just a little question bout buddhism, but does the tale of the goat who saved the priest apporved by science? is it really possible for a goat to talk?

  • buddah is a prince and four things changed his life

  • is it true buddhist need to be calm let the pain go on and on

  • what d fuck this film director and script writer wants to proof saying lord Buddha was born in India. They split wrong information all over the world through this film. The actual truth is Load Buddha was born in Nepal not in india and Kapilvasthu was the Kingdom of king sudhodhan. Lumbini is the place Where Lord Buddha was born. The film maker used ancient city of Nepal (Bhaktapur) to capture the film as well.

  • It's sort of strange, that the music starting in 0:20 resembles that of "Watership down" which was shot in 1979:

    youtube. com / watch?v=3gYpLGxAetg

  • thank you!!!!!!! sabbe satta bhavantu sukhitatta....

  • amazing 240 quality video

  • Some people could learn a lot from Buddha.

But until they are ready, the teachings will be like noise to their ears.

When they are ready, they will be like water to the thirsty.

    Peace and enlightenment to all.

  • Buddhism is just bullshit. Christianity is just bullshit.

However, buddhists are a lot more peaceful.

  • @YellowMagi Although the biggest pile of bullshit of course is atheism...seems you dont know enough to say...Buddddha described things that modern physicist reconise as the quantum field and heisenberg's uncertainty principle...alot of what he said in reguards to psychology is almost identical to western psychology...whereas you mighty athiests who consider themselves to be the pinnacle of wisdom sit on the sidelines and declare thr is NOTHING to this life...just because u dnt belive in a god

  • @Yawwwn1990

I'd like to know what Buddha said which physicist recognise as quantum physics.

  • @YellowMagi Some connections between what Buddha learned and quantum physics are: that everything is connected, that we are made out of the same things as the things around us, that every thing is energy, is fire - these concepts are tied intensely to string theory - you can find a lot more connections if you look for yourself.

  • @xaiesque12

Everything is not energy, nor fire. Nobody educated believes that.

  • @YellowMagi actually everything is energy.

  • @BoomDoneNext

A stone which mass is 1kg, is that just a bubble of energy? That's buLLShit

  • @YellowMagi yes..it has potential energy.

  • @YellowMagi every atom and molecule has energy, every educated person believes that, these particles make everything about us and around us, but there are things smaller than particles, which get closer and closer to just being pure energy. thermodynamics, string theory, quantum mechanics, etc. etc.

  • @xaiesque12

Has energy, but it IS NOT energy. U nub

  • @YellowMagi no its exactly has xaiesque says... what else is it? PARTICLES? PARTICLES of what? Its energy... if it has energy it is energy... and everything has energy and therefor IS energy.

  • @BoomDoneNext

Particles are certain values of mass. Mass does not equal energy

  • @YellowMagi then what is mass made up of?

  • @YellowMagi mass does equal energy!!!

  • @SujataLimbu91

It certainly does not. Energy is measured in Joule, Mass is measured in kilogram. One Kilogram does not equal one Joule.

  • @SujataLimbu91 E=mc^2

a very well know equation, I assume your aware of it already.

Think about it, and enquire your physics teacher. :)

  • @YellowMagi in addition though, what Buddha adds that quantum physics doesn't have is the notion of a spirit, that exists beyond the mind and body - the mind = brain (stories of our lives) - the body is connected to everything else in our world, made of the same things as everything else in the world, is connected, the breath from the body brings out CO2, is received by plants, they bring oxygen back to us, so many connections we have to discover for ourselves through meditation

  • Seen it a thousand times and never get tired of it

  • Buddha was born in NEPAL not in India.

  • Once Afghanistan was all Buddhist.

    Can you imgine that?

  • @Pepar1000 true, it also the place where much of the Buddhist scripture was written in. The oldest known Buddhist scriptures and art can still be found there and are often times smuggled out because they are in high demand. Sad what that county turned out to be after Buddhism was finished.

  • Jesus never teach us to insult anyone. It is people like you who give Christianity a bad name. Unfortunately there are too many people like you in this world. How sad.

  • buddhism is shit compard to christianity who wants to spend hours meditating? lol

  • @DoktorMongolo step up man!!! don't say such ignorant things as if your speaking for Christians as a whole. btw we meditate on the word of God studying to show ourselves approved.

  • @sax3740 retard christians dont meditate only buddists and hinduists do and god doesnot want you to accept false religions

  • Comment removed

  • @DoktorMongolo shut your mouth moron.....i don''t likw christianity's way of believing cuz its evil to the world.

  • @GOODGAMEZERG Why is christianity "evil to the world" and not buddhism?

  • @DoktorMongolo you tend to judge the meditation into useless term well its a total insult to us.......beware you mouth or you will gonna get resents.

You believe in Wrong way....so don't judge the meditation in your own way

I respect the Christianity by its existance not the what is the superiority toward to other.

  • @DoktorMongolo You insulted us..........don't judge the medtitation into nothing.

  • @DoktorMongolo

Not every Buddhism meditates I'm a Buddhist but I don't meditate.

  • Thank you for posting that movie. So few movies has helped the world understand Tibet and the reality behind the conflict with China. ...

  • I'm so grateful you uploaded this movie, I've been dying to watch it for so long...

    Thank you so much^^

  • I'm only watching this movie for a religion assignment..

  • Damn smart mouth goat....what a way to get out of a tricky situation

  • This movie has inspired me spiritually so much that I can never stop watching it. I never get tired of this film. Every time I watch it, I find something new. I really love the way the story of Buddha has been interpreted.

  • @cobradene i recommend you to do some meditation , it may be good for you

  • Thank you Jarsodu, for posting this film, and by this way, you are sharing love.

  • thank you for uploading this :)

  • ying ruo cheng, what a great beautiful actor

  • i like this movie...does anyone have any other similar movie recommendations?

  • @kuha5ster

depends on what about it you liked :P

  • @kuha5ster 7 Years in Tibet is also on YT, and Kundun is out there but not on YT I don't think. Hope this helps.

    Namaste'

  • @zzinglish53 thanks and namaste

  • my question is how is this belief that started in india ended up in those asian countries....n why their buddha looks more chinesse if the real one never looklike that

  • @babyely09 Asian depictions of Jesus also tend to make him look Asian just as European/American depictions of Jesus may show him with light, skin, and eyes. He was born in Palestine. He'd look like a Palestinian, but every gives him a face they are comfortable with.

  • @babyely09 India culture was spread through out Asia. East and South East Asian (empires/emperors and their people) used this religion for their own belief. Same as Christianity started out in the middle east and know all these European people practice it. The pictures of Jesus today is a very Anglo-Saxon depiction of Jesus.

  • Yeh thats what the goat said gahahhahah

  • Thanks so much for posting this. I'd seen a small part and said "he looks like Keanu" one of my favorite actors, glad to watch it in full.

  • But Keanu Reeves is the wrong race? Wasnt Buddha from India?? He looks pretty white to me..........

  • i already watched this "TREE" times

  • why dont these comments supprise me.........lack of understanding me thinks,,,,

  • i dont get why they speak in English? bad movie.

  • buddism is so graceful and peaceful

  • This movie needs to be reissued on dvd and blueray in a remastered anamorphic version.

  • Tibetan buddhism is as propagandistic as any other religion. Meditation plays the smallest role in Tibetan buddhism. Even though it is what led lord buddha to enlightenment. It emphasizes ridiculous traditions such as the dalai lamas. The currect dalai lama called for intolerance on another neighboring religion in Tibet. The monks that meditate in the caves and mountains of tibet do not even care who the dalai lama is. My main grief with t. buddhism is that it turns off people to meditation

  • @thejugglenaut91

You should give meditation a try ;-)

  • @thejugglenaut91 on the contrary, meditation opens the door to Buddhism for me. in my case, meditation makes buddhism accessible as i see meditation as a practical skill, and buddhism provides a solid philosophical framework for it. I wish more people could discover the benefits of meditation instead of resorting to quick fixes like alcohol and drugs.

  • @thejugglenaut91

Well, it's true that they are mainly concerned with tantric practices as opposed to meditation, but who are we to say that there's only one real method to enlightenment?

I'm in favor of the Theravada tradition myself, but I respect the Vajrayana and Mahayana schools if it's how they choose to practice. I'm certainly not an enlightened being, so I don't feel I'm comfortable telling someone they're practicing the Dhamma "wrongly".

  • As a film it's very poor - the characters are wooden and the dialogue is unconvincing - but as an exposition of Buddhism it's very interesting.

  • It was nominated for one Razzie Award, Worst New Star for Chris Isaak

  • Lord Buddha teaches us not to insult others' religion.

  • skip skip skip nao!

  • fuck this movie...the village wasnt in ancient india it was in ancient nepal....fuck the writer of this movie fuck em all

  • @Achilles0651 I think that is very trivial and unimportant when looking at the Buddha's life, especially when portrayed in an art form such as film.

so you're right, this movie is not 100% historically accurate.

but I don't think the purpose of this movie is to give a history lesson; it's to tell the story of the Buddha Siddhartha and explain the basics of Buddhism.

  • I thought Buddhist monks do not keep hair on the head. Why does Kimbotenzee (I'm sorry if I spell it wrong) have hairs?

  • Hair is seen as beautiful, so to keep from any impure thoughts, many monks will shave their heads, but like the precepts, I'm sure it's only a suggestion of sorts, and it isn't necessary. I'm sure a monk would not be kicked out of the monastery for it.

  • @TheLimeTreeBand: Thank you :) The reason I asked is because in my country (Vietnam) most of temples are Mahayana, and I haven't seen monks with hairs on his head. I thought Tibetan Buddhism may be different in this aspect.

  • @ieudaiduong Tibetan monks don't shave their heads. With the way they are dress, they look Tibetan.

  • LOL wow they shot this in Oakland LMAO out of all the places they choose 880 in oakland

  • Thank you . No words to say..

  • Does anyone know the song's name at 6:13, when the monks were listening to in the car?

  • somebody already answerd that ?

Couse I whas wondering the same thing when I heard it.

  • Dear Jarsodu,Where ever you are...i just want to say"Thanks a lot for posting this Film"

Sabbe Satta Bhavantu Sukhitata...Sadhu Sadhu Sadhu

  • Buddha came from Nepal and he is powerful

  • Bridget Fonda is drop dead gorgeous!

  • This is one of my all time favorite movies. A very good and inspiring movie.

  • Thanks so much for posting this!! <3

  • Buddha was born in "kaplivatu" in Nepal, which is also called "lumbini"

Buddha is orginally a "mogolid" race not an indian. His preach his buddhism later in india after his days and years of enlightment. But now, sad to say that not a from 100% not nearly 1% of indian are buddhist. Very sad to know. they are far spread to other asian countries.

  • Strangely, Buddhism spread by emperor Ashoka's help in India, but later lost "momentum". Islamic invasions killed many monks in some places, but later, i don't know what happened.

  • Comment removed

  • Actually Buddha was born in INDIA

  • You Dicks Buddha Was Born Ín Nepal Not In India!

  • @kunturi53

    In present day Nepal.
