@golffreak68 Yeah, I believe every band there was from the United States or Great Britain besides the Scorpions from Germany and Gorky Park from USSR

@golffreak68 There are also stars all over the stage that are not blue and white. I don't think the stars have anything to do with the United States at all, I think they are just there as decorations.

I would take the Scorpions over any other band that day in 1989. Same thing in the 1983 US Festival....I'm also a big Van Halen fan and from the videos on youtube, The Scorpions stole the show. Glad I got to see the Scorps in 2003, missed them on the last tour they're doing now(2010)....one of the best hard rock/metal bands ever.

Bought this on pay-per-view and watched this show live when it was broadcast in 89. Back when MTV actually played...videos. I liked Ozzy but....these guys stole the show in my opinion. Tight arrangements and Meine is an excellent showman!! Just wished they would have released this on DVD.

@jamesskb Youre so right! Bon Jovi was supposed to be the headliner. They were good but Scorpions blew atleast me away!!!! Ozzy with Zack and Cinderella also was amasing, felt like yesterday :)

@CalShane1 Agree 100%. Saw the Monsters of Rock San Francisco show. My opinion, they were better than VanHalen & VH played awesome! Have seen them 3 total times now, last at Mountain View 08. Never been disappointed with a Scorpions show. Fantastic concert band!!!!

I don't understand why most of people from the West think that Russians were stupid before this festival. In fact i look at this festival as political thing same as rock explosion. Scorpions were great then 'cause they didn't represent ''bubblegum yeah'' USA, they were best. And i bet that many of those youth started with drugs after Moscow peace festival bringed the peace(of drugs). Russians were greatest odium then.

Yeah, Scorpions are really great performers. I think they're underrated... A hell of a lot better than Bon Jovi!!
