  • Excuse me but could you take your argument elsewhere?

  • We have reported time and time again to the "Thames valley police" for help and assistance and are very much ignored! It feels very much like Deliberate Indifference, being gay in Berkshire and facing Hate crime just Is NOT taken seriously at all! That is very much our experience, with crimina damage, "Commun ity" intimidation, theft etc etc! They Just DO NOT Care!

  • It is interesting that this promo video shows how the "special" talks and associates with the community. Facts are many in the Gay and minority community dare not approach the police because they simply do not care to protect us from hate crime. So many unreported incidents and even those that are reported are rarely investigated well enough to respect the victim of hate crime :(

  • @Hamzalove1 This video is about one man's views on a job that he loves. It wasn't filmed to answer questions about racism or hate crime. Although I understand your disappointment, I think your comment is out of place for this video.

  • @Hamzalove1 You will find that the police force itself has its own's GPA and minority associations for those that join the job. All police officers have a duty of care, and this does not exclude any single person who lives in that area of that particular force. You will find many gay/bisexual police officers working in all of the forces across England and Wales. But that makes no difference to the service we provide!

  • @Hamzalove1 This is an issue in that so many LGBT crimes are not reported - you cannot blame the police for not doing anything if nothing is reported - anc actually any LGBT crimes are specifically looked at as a hate crime which are taken very seriously.

  • @Hamzalove1 Fuck the gay community. bunch of dirty scum. I hate gay people with a passion. sick fucks.

  • @blackwallstreet773 Every man has the right to be a Man in his own image; by believing the things you do, you are part of the ills of society. Homosexuals are not to be judged on their orientation. They are people. They are quite normal people. You however with your unreasonable hate are not normal. Freud would have a fucking field day with you, sonny jim. And before you ask if I am a part of the gay community; I am not. I am heterosexual.

  • @blackwallstreet773 You're also a drug-dealing, raping nigger

  • Im now a special constable, and i will be commencing my official street duties in June... Cant wait! The training was awesome fellas, the 3 weekends of training and induction are real eye openers, and for those who think you wouldnt be confident enough, these weekends will prove you wrong! Join for a taster for a career plan, you might not want to join fulltime but rather stay as a volunteer whilst doing another career!

  • @lightningpete HOW?! I'm filling out the online application as i'm typing this. I'd LOVE to become a special constable. I'm not inro all that power hungry stuff you hear people saying about the police. I want to make sure that everyones problems are heard and that they all have the same opportunity to help and support.

  • @rawrgrr4298 Ive been doing my duties since end of june time. Its a really good job to be in, as a volunteer or as a full-timer. Anyone thinking of joining the job as a full-time career either needs to (depending on the force applying too) or should be in the specials first. Generally to pass the examinations /assesment centre you will need to have come across or have knowledge about several situations. what better way to know than be involved in policing ones! If you need any more info mate PM!

  • Yeah my local force gives specials £1000 a year + expenses for serving at least 45 tours (each being at least 4 hours long). Thats nice, after all when you sign up for this you're doing it for reasons beyond cash. A lot of people look down on Specials, but they're ignorant - its easy to whine about the problems in society, whereas some of us actually stand up and genuinely want to do our part for the better. Much respect to all those who do!

  • @RicardusG Thanks for the comment, great to hear from people who are passionate about things they believe. I have nothing but respect for Special Constables, they take a lot of stick for a job they obviously care about.

  • Well nylonTS, the people who sign up to be a special realise that it is still a voluntary service, they are usually people looking to use it as a stepping stone or who naturally want to improve the area they live in.

Also, I think they do get a small allowance so it's not completely unpaid.

  • One must ask why you are an "ex" regular officer, perhaps because you don't know the difference between "hear" and "here"??? To make such a bold statement as "specials are fools" again indicates ignorance to why we do it. As I said in the video I do it because I cannot afford the drop in salary. I know may specials that wish to make sure it's the job for them before giving up their career - a fool is it?? We do not have PSCO's here,I enjoy the same powers as my regular colleagues unlike PCSO's.

  • @mjl1132

    Well said.

  • just missed my training and uniform weekends because of other diary events, waited a year an a half to get in, probably have to wait 3 more months for the next training date... Joining Northumbria Police Force, in hoping to get probation down whilst at uni, before joining fulltime.

    Great vid :)

  • Hi Majestic, I think the transition is easier if you are a special first.

It also gives you the chance to see if the police is really for you.

I think the specials lose about 70% of their officers to the regular force.

And, you are still a genuine officer when working as a special :)

  • if become a special , would it be easy for me to actually become a genuine police officer ?

  • yes but you mus be in the specials for alt leased a year

  • @magestic99 Yes it would, infact according to the homeoffice it gives you a 70% more chance of getting into the regulars after joining the specials for a year.

  • I'm halfway through my specials training at the moment and i'm really looking forward to doing the job

  • Good Job Tony, appart from looking like a right grumpy s*d it makes me look good!

  • Thanks for the comment streethawk.

Was great working with Michael, a real eye opener for someone like me who didn't know a thing about the specials.

    Much appreciated.

  • Well done on this production folks. Great example of the typical work undertaken by us Specials, that often goes unseen. Keep up the good work Michael!

  • Thanks Caolbhoy.

Yeah it's good to see what the Specials are actually about. I agreed with Michael when he said that the public don't really see the numbers on the shoulders, just the uniforms.

It was a long shoot with Michael, but really good to film.

He's 100% genuine and totally dedicated to what he does. Great guy.

Not sure if the force will upload it to their own website yet.

    Cheers for the comments.

  • Really good to see a proper informative video about a service that Joe Public doesn't have much insight to.

The policeman, Michael, comes across really positive about what he does and it will surely appeal to those thinking about that career.

Great video Tony, yet again you capture the real essence of the client/project. Will this video be on Strathclyde Police's own website?

    Great Job!!

  • Great new video about Special Constables. Great to see new stuff being launched.
