This should be described as a slow day at the ghats. I recall not so long ago at least 6 burning pyres going at once. The movement of the water is very slow now and hardly moves the material down stream... the sand bagging helps to direct the water to one side for this purpose... of moving ashes along. This is a National Heritage site and one of many places in this beautiful country having a special meaning to observers. A must see...

me and my partner came to kathmandu in july 07 for out freinds wedding and we stopped off here, it was such an experience.
