  • If you have to paint a De Havilland yellow, it has to be a Tiger Moth... :P

  • You've probably been asked this before a thousand times but why is it we are allowed to fly Sea Vixens, Sea Hawks, Hunters and Vampires in this country but not Lightnings, Victors and Buccaneers (Or a Javelin would be nice)? Also, why don't I see any RAF Phantoms flying in private hands? Sooo glad the Red Bull/Extreme sports brigade got their God awfull paint job off this thing. Thanks for posting.

  • Phantom - possible.

Lightning - no spares, very very expensive, something to do with the control/fuel system that makes the aircraft dangerous, very complex.

Victor - same as Lightning, apart from the control thing.

  • she looks to be an incredibly versatile machine for her size! i hope we see her again this year :)

  • Yer she is but i dont think we shall her being flown like that this year we will have to wait and see!!

  • Fantastic! I rememer seeing this display at Culdrose.

  • I wasn't aware of that i'm in Australia...and haven't kept up with much of the UK aviation news of late....but I know the scheme was abysmal.

I love the 'drone' livery...this is the only vid i have seen without that dreaded drink logo all over it.

  • Ok cheers for your comments she performed two seasons 2001/02 in her drone markings then Red Bull stepped in but this did keep her flying untill 2007 and i do have some vid of her in those colours which i will post at a later date hope you enjoy my vids check out my others and i will be posting more from my arcive each week.

  • I do respect Red Bull for keeping her in the sky...I just wished they had been less intrusive to the originality of such aircraft (Swiss B-25...ditto...) but then again..i'm sure we'd all rather hear and see her shape in the sky than mothballed (as she is now) so kudos to Red Bull....

  • I agree with you she was a massive flying advert for Red Bull have to admit the drone colours are fab.... have you seen her new colours though!?

  • No I haven't...is it the Squadron camouflage look?

...or have they chosen another interesting scheme?

I loved the Drone look...the high vis scheme is a crowd pleaser!

  • Yer thankfully she does not wear those colours anymore, when the Red Bull sponsorship ran out in early 2007 the opportunity was taken to return her to her original service markings that of 899 NAS,but beacuse of insurance/sponsorship/funding problems XP924 remains grounded at Bournemouth. The colours that are featured in the video are the colours she retained from her drone duties at Llanbedr from 1986-1991.

  • Lovely...the Vixen isn't in Red bull colours.
