Mustang was a modded v6. Put it up against a Mustang V8 of the same year, the GXP loses everytime. Those cars a fast to 60 but losr way too much steam to beat a Mustang.
You couldn't be more wrong. The GXP has an LS4 under the hood...they have killer top end. Old Mustang GTs (basically, anything before 2005) have pretty decent 1/8 mile performance but die on the top end. The LS4, on the other hand, shines on top as does any GM LSx motor.
Any stock pre-2005 Mustang GT will have its hands full with a GXP. 2005 and newer V8 'Stangs will have the advantage, but it's close enough that if they screw up, the GXP could pull the win.

The 96-97 mustangs were equipped with an all cast 215hp SOHC 4.6L and the 98 with 225hp. These cars were by no means even close to being a high performance car in stock form. Late model mustangs didnt even flex their muscle until the 1996 Cobra with an all aluminum teksid block 4.6 DOHC producing 305hp.
I'd drive both cars with pride. I am looking at buying a GXP though, being a Pontiac guy. 5.3 is an impressive engine. 4.6 as well, but it's about time Twangers started eating sone GM dust!

1997 GTs didn't have 260 hp. They had a Non-PI 4.6 with something like 225 hp. They only ran high 14s, low 15s. Not one of Ford's better GTs in other words.

what i wanna know is with compG's when engaged with paddle shift does it acually let u shift 4 times or would there be no point seeing as 4th gear is usless unless hardened

Yea if you are racing more than likely you are not going to need 4th gear under WOT. Honestly IMO the most fun thing you can do with TAP-Shift is Downshift into 2nd around 50 with a cat-back and a cat less DP. Damn does she sound good. I'm referring to a GXP not a CompG.

The stock older gen Mustang GT can't hang with the stock GXP. 1/4 mile, top speed, handling, braking, or even MPG.
The new Mustang GT & the GXP are pretty even, it's the driver that will take the win.
I own both a 06 Mustang & 08 GXP that are lightly modded.

im not sure i understand the mustangs a gt....which has a 4.6l 260 hp engine. the gxp a great car dont get me wrong also has 260 hp with a 3.8l supercharged engine....so if the mustang has mods wouldnt he win?

1997 GTs didn't have 260 hp. They had a Non-PI 4.6 with something like 225 hp. They only ran high 14s, low 15s. Not one of Ford's better GTs in other words.

That mustang is pre "PI" heads. Doesn't have 260hp. The gxp in this video i believe has the ls4 v8 with 303 hp and 323 lb-ft.

GXP's are not that fast.
If the stang was highly modded, the driver must have been asleep. The base gt can easily beat a gxp.
