I'd rather do my own work or modifications using 3DS Max anyway...but I'll only do it a little cuz I could just make a standalone game with Unreal Engine anyway

@DracoMalfoy87 Oh no, they're all totally fan made. Diablo 3's models aren't compatible with the wc3 engine. U3 engines not that great.

@DracoMalfoy87 rts (real time strategy)? I'm not familiar with very many engines or programming enviroments, ect; uh. It's best to have a good understanding of different programming languages, and the programming enviroments you can use them in.

I use Eclipse for 3D Java games, Visual Studio: XNA for 2D Xbox360 games, Source SDK for 3D games (but I wouldn't recommend that for an rts).

I'd personally do it in XNA (c#), but then I've not made a 3d game on xna before -but it is possible for a rts

Well like an RTS or RTS-RPG hybrid.

I think most game engines and object oriented programming languages are fundamentally pretty similar. There's the Swedish Spring engine but I don't think I need that.

I'm currently making my first tile engine, which I'm calling Square Memory.

lol i like how people are talking about Blizzard changing lore from WC3 for no reason, the reason was so they just keep going on. They want to sell as much shit as they can so they decide to make a thousand games from this single game. It's all money and that's all they've been about. Starcraft 2 having 3 games just for story line is another example and it wouldn't surprise me if they fucked up D3 too by making it pay to play or something random. GO Bliz! Money hungry bastards.

talking about lore on fantasy games, i used to play dnd(dungeons and dragons) based games (neverwinter nights 1 and 2) and when i got wc3 i noticed some of the spells and skills were the same in these dnd based games

i just tried this map, its cool, but will be easier and more fun with more than 1 player

I just quited playing WoW (private server) and started with W3 and its awesome you can reconize a lot of things from WoW and otherwise the story is rly correct, the Hole Warcraft univurse is just geniously done if you ask me.

Glad your enjoying it, although remember Wc3 was made before WoW and you may notice they changed quiet a lot of the storyline from WC3 to WoW, and by changed I dont' mean manipulated, I mean changed without any specific reason (I can't quiet give you an example right now, although I've come across this many times when I played WoW a few years back).

@Psymonsdream Blizzard hasn't changed anything particular with WoW from Wc3-Wc1 other than some environmental layout stuff but that's just silly to go picking on those.

The lore is very correct and fits with Wc3-Wc1.

MicroHive, i don't rly think the music, graphical inprovments, scripts, talentbuild balancing and idea's, new area's, mobs, items, new object, .... where goiing there automaticcly, no W3 is not the same like WoW, its a lot differend the only thing the games got incommend is the theme and addictive grade of gameplay :)

@Psymonsdream that is true but most of the groundwork was made during Wc3 so a lot of the things you do see in WoW are from pre-established lore. :P

However it doesn't hurt for Blizzard to actually further develop the concept since an MMO has to continuously expand its content.

So yeah... They pulled it well. Can agree that the game is quite addictive.

Terraining wise this map is brilliant in everyway, only other map with this amount of detail in terraining would be TKOK.

I very much enjoyed TKoK, sadly Wc3 version 1.24 destroyed the map. From what I've heard it's being remade. "They've just started working on the desert", so I'm told.
