Anyway I've been looking around for software which will do exactly that, I've even considered trying to make it myself. Any idea if it will be for sale or open sourced? A windows or linux version would be nice as I don't have a macbook :(
I'd want to import from a different device but I could easily knock together a little routine to chuck out the appropriate XML.
thats superb, impressive speed,then I noticed the roads drops by approx. 17 foot (is that worked out above sea level?) ,still potent acceleration though as you are going slightly uphill at first,
I've been looking into this kind of dev and the application (i've done most of the coding).
I just can never decide - get input - on how people would best plan/want to sync their GPS and video stream - what did you do to sync your gps stream with the video?
@drsquirrel0 It's not my application, i asked the developer if he was going to release it and he let me use a copy that is not yet finished.
What basically happens is the raw data is read from an xml file and it is applied to each frame of the video. you have to make sure your video and first xml point match exactly.
@drsquirrel0 i cut the start of the GPS off. i tend to find a place where i'm stopped such as traffic lights, and match the moment i start to the first gps recording after that.
@thomase1 i got a garmin cadence sensor. so a device goes on my non drive side chain stay that gets the rear wheel rotation speed and the pedal rotation with magnets on my spoke and crank arm.
mac only is a fail when there's so many standards that can be shared between platforms. Get him on that quick! Looks good apart from that.

Gaz has very punchy acceleration, I can vouch for that myself, LOL!

What's the software/process for doing this? Looks cool - I'd like to add the speedo/elevation to my vids.

@sh4rkybloke It's something someone else is developing, not my application so i can't share it and i'm just testing it for him. Also it's mac only.

@gaz545 Boo, hiss!!!
Lol - no worries, just thought it was something that was "out there" already.
Seen another vid with something very similar.. might even be by your mate... who knows?

@gaz545 I understand how it works ;)
Sync here then assumes GPS log starts at the beginning of the video.
Do you start your GPS and video together? Or cut your GPS beginning off to match the video?
I did ask some questions about syncing on CycleChat but no reply - so I haven't bothered to do any more as I can still do it for myself when I want.

Cool, How did you get the data of the Garmin?
HLaB75 2 years ago
@HLaB75 exported the data into a tcx file using training centre and edited the xml to get the specific data i needed.
