  • eu gostaria de dizer alguma coisa...mas sinto muitas coisas pra saber oq dizer....

  • Usher is an amazing singer but this was just not very good

  • I love that man

  • Wow! That "stages" in the beginning was hilarious! I thought he could do this flawless. But that's okay, I guess...

  • This is FANTASTIC!!! Usher should release his rendition of this most beautiful of songs.

  • Yes agree with everyone else, THIS is the Usher i liked. He has sold out to bullshit now

  • Up there with Ray Charles. Beautiful artistry.

  • I miss this Usher. That pop shit is what is selling right now! We have to dig in the crates for good R&B.

  • idk what you talking about but USHER DID HIS THANG NOT THING on this song !!! i absolutely loved it `stop hating smh

  • Mark 1:34 he forgot the verse: Now I am so much better and if my words don't come together,

  • Dickriders will automatically think this was good. I like Usher, but this song was NOT for him.

  • @219finest88 gud oooo I thought it was just me! This was not his song at all!

  • Usher is so diverse. I love that he can do many genres.

  • I think that he did a wonderful job on this song. Finally put some soul into his singing.

  • This is the Usher I fell in love with when he first came out. Que Dios te bendiga mi amor. deja todo en las manos de Dios.

  • Pitchy.... man.

  • Usher has thsi song in his soul. Great!

  • For a black dude, Usher will never be as black as Leon Russel, a white dude, sorry, this is not my opinion, this is fact.

  • Hey Usher... it´s the best song I heared from you!!! Like your voice very much.. but it gets lost so much in this hip hop shit...!!! thanks for this here!!!

  • Not one of his best choices it's a hard song to sing

  • I prefer the rough edges of the original Leon Russell version.

  • This was horrible.

  • Damn Usher stick to being a dancer and a Justin Beiber nanny

  • @ch1ckenman GTFO

  • Ray Charles covers this song the best. Willie Nelson was crying watching Ray do his thing.....Not saying anything negative about everyone else...but my opinion...Ray kills it,,,,LOL

  • According to Adele's tour bus driver this guy is really boring LOL.

  • @MissSuzy0703 haha that is soo mean!!

  • I thought it was the Carpenters :)

  • It's a hard song to sing and nearly impossible to come close to Donny's rendition. But Usher did a great job, it's about coveying the emotion that the song holds to the listeners and he did that!

  • For the ones who think this is Donny Hathaway's song I'm sorry to say you are poorly mistaken. This song was written by Leon Russell!!! Donny just wished he wrote this song. Also the best cover of this song is by Ray Charles people come on. Usher and Donny aren't bad singers don't get me wrong, but beside Ray these guys are just amateurs.

  • I have to agree with ederrick987, his voice is not strong enough for this song..and he did crack at the beginning of the song..it wasnt bad but it wasnt good..just okay..listen to christina aguilera sing it...wow she is great

  • FOR THE HATAS YOU TRY TO SING IT!! lets see how you sound!! THIS IS YOU TUBE!! HOLLA!!

  • Maybe Usher CAN sing, but his head is so big that it is going to burst one day, and THAT won't be pretty!

  • I was not impressed...his style of singing does not match the power of this original song by Donny Hathaway.

  • a great version of how to crucify a beautiful song!!!!

  • I though three mo tenors made this song :|

  • BEFORE YOU CRITICISE USHER'S RENDITION, Maybe you should be informed that he is actually singin this to someone.. this person was Aaliyah (artis) who died 2001. Usher's rendition of this song is a tribute to her, as her friend, rumours say that he was in love with her. the FACT IS that they where really close. Thats why usher is so moved to tears in this video, because it was just right after her death. and he is actually SINGING FROM THE HEART.

  • @Paciaecus and that sad. But it doesn't change the fact that the cover of the song wasn't that great. He shouldn't have sang it.

  • @Sexy5156 Maybe for some, but actually besides the crack at the start the rest is like hearing an angel singing with tears, and if you've lost some1 in the past thats close to you, you WILL be moved by this rendition at some point. but it's all love <3 :)

  • Call in the care police... It was still terrible.

  • Maybe people here should be more informed about this particular recording/video before they go all wild with theyr criticism over Usher. If you observe usher's rendition maybe you will understand that IN FACT he is singing this to someone.

HE WAS SINGING THIS TO HIS DEAD FRIEND. NO ONE OTHER THAN THE ARTIST ALIYAH. R.I.P AND USHER AND HER WERE REALLY CLOSE

USHER'S RENDITION OF THIS SONG WAS DEDICATED TO ALIYAH.

  • I love usher but this R&B crooner tone does not go with this song. This song requires SOUL, the emotion was rather void for me, Christina Aquilera's version was ok, but she was to technical with it and her runs were all over the place. If you are not going to feel the true emotion of this song, there is virtually no point in singing it. Donny's pain and his mental state at the time he sung this song was real and it can not be duplicated.

  • @Moshid88 i hella agree...... but people are too busy sucking his d@#4...xDxDxD

  • .......................

  • bad

  • Dude, I had to stop listening. It was just too horrible.

  • Christina

  • definitely agree wit bassline. nobody puts the soul into this song save for donny and leon. they about the only ones that do this song right!

  • Usher version is okay, I was waiting for him to put his thumb print on this song

to me he just went through the motions without putting his soul into it.

Still, Usher going through the motions is still better than 95% of all others.

  • nobody like Karen Carpenter

  • usher and michael buble made this song awesome!!!

  • @ddaytx agree!

  • he needs that put down a tone

  • ray charles has the best cover of this song

  • I'm amazed this doesn't have more views. I had no idea that Usher had such a soulful voice. I really enjoyed that.

  • Hahah he messed up at 0:21 x]]

    Anyway he did amazing (:

  • dang this almost made me drop one when he got emotional lol...this is the Usher i miss....he has turned pop and commercial...no more real r&b smh....Usher come back to us!

  • @lyfechanges09 I agree. Usher used to provide us with good, classic, memorable R&B sounds. "Real" R&B artists started disappearing, and I always thought that Usher would hang in there, and hold true to his original sound. Unfortunately, he did indeed become too commercial, and is no longer the same type of artist that he used to be. Still talented, however...just not the same.

  • WOW USHER CAN MAKE SOMEONE LIKE ANY SING NO JOKE

  • he was messing the song up thats why he kept stoping. The high notes where too much for him

  • @lyte1259 Have you heard the Donny Hathaway version? The parts where he pauses have no high notes in them so I have no idea what you are talking about, he pauses briefly and miss a few words before the solitary long note, after that there are no words, listen to the original and you'll see.

  • He does it good justice but have you heard Matt goss sing it, one of the best versions I have heard!!!! its on the album gossy!

  • Comment removed

  • He got really emotional after saying "You came out front when I was hiding..." He is really singing to someone. Chilli. Listen to how he delivers the words "I love you!"

  • an old classique song by an young superb musician.thats what i like about music.outregeous performance!!!

  • Usher has some of the best vocals in the game besides me, I always say...but he has no soul for this song. This song is SOUL....period....Cute Effort tho.

  • Usher is a great singer, and this performance confirms it. A Song for You is the litmus test for vocal talent.

  • wow he very impressed me....usher is a icon

  • Not normally an Usher fan.....but he hits this out of the park.

  • I have to omit he really did justice to this song. i was very impressed not huge fan of him. maybe i need to check him out again

  • 1:35 == what happened? que le paso?

    se emociono?

    he cry??

  • u go usher!! this is one of my favorite renditions. his dimples are so cute...

  • Whitney Houston has this song on her new cd it sounds tight too

  • @chi2capcorn i havnt heard anybody sing it better than that either

  • he did a great job on this song

  • I have to say that Usher is one of the few artists that come out hot and actually stay hot as far as their music goes

  • He was thinking about Chilli, he loves that woman with all his heart!

  • I think its great when he sings notes like riffs 0:26

  • not gud at all

  • @irvindonta1991 I agree

  • USHER IS THE MAN PERIOD

  • Uhm can I ask a question. What happened 22 seconds into the song? Because that just was not right at all.

  • Great Great Great Usher class talent love this song and love how Usher sing this song.

  • Why did he choose this song?! Donny was too great of a singer for his art to be messed up like this. Not only did he hit bad notes, he forgot the words!!!

  • Donny's version was also a remake of leon russell...so usher would be doing his own version of leon russell's song. but yes usher did go off key -_-

  • ok, he hit a bad note at the start-i didnt kno it was illegal for a singer to hit 1 bad note evry now an then i dont think ive heard him sing a bad note apart from that

Also, with the tears bit...usher is rich and famous, do u really think he needs to fake tears jus to get sympathy cos he hit a bad note? maybe they simply were tears and he wasnt being fake which is a words people throw around alot about people especially on youtube, i think he was good

  • I love Usher's rendition of this song. He was wonderful at Michael's funeral. Hadn't really noticed before, but he is really sexy. Has matured in to a very hot man and boy, can he sing!!!

  • Usher is one of few that can sing this song with the passion and feeling that donnie had

  • You mean Leon, right? The one who wrote and performed it first

  • I don't know about that

  • Usher is the best singer currently in the Chart. Go Usher, you are the best great..........

  • @foollovenice NOT!

He's great, I love him, but Raheem Devaugn, is great amongst others. Kem is amazing,,,

  • @foollovenice go and eat hes dick then

  • AGREED

  • that fool be crying all the time.. lol I think he a great actor! lol He can still sing though thats undeniable!

  • nice nice usher

  • he sang it damnwell!..

but yo i wud love sooooooooooo much 2 see ne-yo singing this one!!

  • yo i love this song
