You're confusing two things. Being good at articulating oneself is not the same thing as having an accent.

She DOES have an accent, though: it's California valley girl. It's certainly not Asian.

I grew up a huge Kwan fan, but I felt she always held back on the difficult jumps, her interpretation of music was great, hence she had great artistry but her spins didn't match up to Sasha Cohen.

One thing I wished Michelle practiced on more was her English.Goodness it was always painful watching her try to articulate herself.I understand as a figure skater sometimes you are isolated for long periods of time without any social interaction, but Michelle as an American seems to have an Asian accent and can barely speak English.Even Kim Yuna speaks better English than her.I'm not being racist, just an opinion.

@beshnola You may not like her voice, but make no mistake: there is absolutely nothing Asian about it. Not even slightly. She was born in California, and she sounds like it. She never lived in Asia, and she doesn't sound like she has.

Michelle always look so gorgeous and gracious and she is eloquent. It it wonderful that she went back to take her degree at age 28. And now she is in graduate school like she planned. The world is her oyster. Maybe she can run for President one day!!!!

@AuntSpode8899 Hmmm..personally I don't think Michelle Kwan has a very pretty face, because her nose is kinda wide and her teeth isn't perfect. But what makes her really beautiful is her charisma, eloquent, and grace. This makes you realized that it's not the outside that makes a person beautiful, and sometimes when you are beautiful on the inside, it brings it out and it shows it.

Michelle has been on the world stage since she was 13 years old. She has behaved impecabbly in all the years I have watched her. People all over the world admire her for "her whole package," the same way you appreciate her. It is the correct way to judge a person. Sometimes I cannot believe somebody can be so smart, ambitious, successful, strong, and yet so diplomatic, wise, gracious, kind, sincere, and considerate towards others. People don't see any "defects" about her because of that.

Michelle Kwan a boring skater? I find that incredibly hard to believe. Not really. She has some incredible strength not seen by today's skaters and who are as dull. Rachael Flatt cannot be seen as superior to Michelle Kwan. Flatt also can't stand up to skaters like Michelle Kwan, Mirai Nagasu, and Sasha. Nagasu currently shares the same coach as Michelle Kwan did when she was competing.

Michelle is very gracefull, and powerfull. It is beautifull to watch her skating. I love watching her, I wish she would compete in the olympics this year, all well. But in my mind, she is the best female skater. Period.

Michelle would NEVER be able to compete with todays girls. At least Sasha's EARNING her way onto the Olympic team and not pulling what Michelle did, she thought the judges would just hand her the chance to go to Torino, and then when she went she hurt herself on the very first jump she did in practice....SHE cost Emily valuable time and maybe Emily could have made the podium in Torino.
