@riptide100 I think that I may have some around some place. When I think about it for just a minute I can hear it in my head. Even in berthing quarters you could hear the screech and roar and then the thud of the bridal slap.
Good job over there in Nam! The A-4 was a good bird and the people flying/supporting/maintaining it were superb. The smartest ones in the war weren't in the Pentagon/White House but in the cockpit of a Scooter.
I was part of VA-172 during this time. I showed this to my 19 month old grandson. He wasn't impressed with the video but loved the music. Couldn't get the headphones away from him.
I just had to say one more thing. After watching this I experenced a flood of good memories J was onboard the forrestal during the bad fire and I carried that around with me all this time . IO visited the forrestal memorial 2 yrs ago and I was able to let it go rite there. and ytour vid proves to me im ok now. there was a time in my life it would have saddened me to see it so thatnks great memories man!
Who was the "foley operators" during the cat shots? That is not the sounds that I heard everyday for a year when flight ops were on.

@exenrontexas You are correct - those are not actual sounds from cat shots. It was the closest sound I could come up with.

Thanks for sharing. This is exactly what it was like on my ship, CVA-31. And since you showed another CVA, which one was it?

@exenrontexas There were actually three carriers in the films. USS Constellation, USS Kearsarge and the A-3 cat shot was on the USS Saratoga.

Thanks, wkat. I agree that the support and maintenance was superb and under very tough conditions.
