I'm 24 (not an old codger!) and I smoke a Falcon, They're a great pipe for when your out an about and you don't want to risk damaging a more expensive pipe. Also good for smoking moist flakes!
I own two Falcons and reserve them both for virginias. MacBaren Virginia #1 in one and Orlik Golden Slices in the other. I also have an old Yello Bowl radiator pipe with a metal stem and smoke nothing but Stokkeby Navy Flake in it.
After seeing your video I had to have one so I ordered one from premierpipes (dot com). It arrived this past weekend shiny and brand new in the box. Price was $74.95 which is probably on the high side but what the heck. Mine had a horrible draw, though. I found that removing the cotton ring fixed it so I guess I'll smoke without that and hope it doesn't gurgle. Really enjoy your videos!
I was just looking at a sight that sells these the other day, I've remember seeing them about when I was kid and kind of find the novelty of them intriguing. I think you make an excellent point as a "travel pipe." I agree it would be perfect for that, just bring 2 or 3 bowls and your good to go.
I think the Falcons are pretty cool and I wouldn't mind owning one. What I don't like about them, is that they require special, thin pipe cleaners... that I obviously can't find locally.
@Flieger671 Hey Mike, I have just been using my usual cleaners in it and have had no problems. I just insert them thin end first, although they will go the other way too with a bit of effort.
@PipesterJim That is great news Jim! I wish I'd known that a couple of weeks ago when there was a number of different Falcons sold at a local auction. :) Oh well, there's always next time.
Oh no! Falcon pipes just do nothing for me. The aesthetic of an industrial age. I'm glad it smokes well mate. But I could never bring myself to smoke one. Cheers, Tim
@Milverton68 Fair enough. I understand your point of view, but I do think there is something slightly rugged, and out-doorsy about them too. The Professor could drop a Falcon in the lavatory as many times as he wanted and it would be completely unharmed! ;-)
@mibgd Thank you! I have been suffering from PAD recently and although Falcons weren't what I was looking at online they have help to satiate it for a bit!
hi jim - these falcons are really good in cold conditions outdoor like in winter - coolest smoke ever. i use pipecleaners in pieces as replacement for the dry-rings. only the high price of the bowls is a shame... good smoke, regards, matthias
@harryheilbutt I have a feeling that the bowls are probably like the pipes, you can find 'em on ebay for good prices but they can be quite expensive in small tobacconists. I got one today that is full of fills, still, doesn't affect the smoking.
I was standing at Petersons, in Dublin, some days ago and they hat many Falcons. I could not bring myself to buy one since they look like they do..., haha. But I guess I will have to get one in the end.

Great idea for comparing different tobaccos in rapid succession. You just change the bowls! Fantastic. Cheers.
