The 2008 Mercedes series is still rusting like an old 90years E200. I'm actually driving an E36 BMW 318i and he got big problems with the axle gear and especially newer series got rust problems too. I find it funny how BMW and MB, who have made quality cars for decades are all of sudden labeled as unreliable just because quality slipped in the mid 1990s. Their quality has since improved greatly. IQS means jack shit to me. Long term quality is important and Lexus isn't the only brand that offers long term quality. My brother has 2009 Mercedes C300 now and he loves it. Before that he had a fully loaded Toyota 4Runner which gave him nothing but problems. He's an off-road enthusiast and wanted a GLK but his wife had twins so he invested his money into something safe, reliable, well-built, comfortable and good looking. I'm not talking about a boring Toyota: 2009 Mercedes C300.

Look them up. There are tons of innovations these brands have brought us. And you forgot Maybach. Wilhelm Maybach perfected the carburator and helped smooth-out V12's even more. Let's not forget the advances Maybach brought us in lacquer quality and luxury features in the 1920s/1930s. Oh, and the Toyota Corolla IS isn't even a good sports sedan. It regularly gets its ass handed to it by the BMW 3er, Infiniti G and occasionally the Audi A4.

Hmm..."quality" is something I cannot see. And I see no quality advantage in an overpriced Toyota. Lexus is overrated and a brand with no history, heritage, motorsport, innovation, global appeal, classic cars, revolutionary prototypes etc. Lexus is a soulless, emotionless brand for poseurs. honestly I think that mercedes, bmw and audi (dont know about Jaguar and the others) are way to overhyped and driven more often from posers (or people who think that they get as much car as they payed for).

german cars were used too be great, but know they make mistakes (as example mercedes interior quality and massive diesel engine problems a few years ago) that would be unforgivable for a brand like lexus, mazda, hyundai etc. but because its mercedes nobody says something.

Part1: Lexus has tons of quality problems here in the US. The media just doesn't talk about it focusing instead on the problems that Toyota has. The current Lexus GS V6 experienced random engine fires a few years ago which LEXUS DENIS. The LS460 needs a completely new suspension at just a little over 70,000 miles. HS250h has engine stall problems and the Lexus ES suffers from transmission issues and engine sludge. And yet people still give us this bullshit about "Lexus quality".

Part2: Lexus is overrated. Plain and simple. I don't know where you live but here in the US the only people who buy Lexus are loyal Toyota owners stepping up from some POS Camry or Avalon. Few car enthusiasts buy Lexus, which is really just an expensive Toyota with no history or heritage, motorsport, innovation etc. like Mercedes, BMW, Jaguar, Audi, Cadillac etc. have. Lexus is nothing to me and others as is Acura and Infiniti. Just expensive Toyotas, Nissans and Hondas. Lame.
