  • Hey man, i enjoyed that thoroughly, just what i was looking for to hear the sound of these pedals. Who wants dry demos all the time!

Cheers mate, very nicely done indeed.

  • Awesome tones! Just awesome. How does the Small Fry compare to the DD? Do you prefer one for lead tones or rhythm tones over the other?

  • Thanks. I like both pedals. They do respond differently to different amps, but in general, the DD is more 'Marshally', but the SF can get more 'sizzle', which in this case is a very good thing. I think the SF can sounds a little heavier than the DD. They are both versatile, and can cover mid-range OD tones very well. Depends on what you want...

  • @betz7777 Thanks for the reply. It's too bad they don't make the Glass Nexus anymore :(

  • Hello < I went on Harmony central to read reviews about the small fry,and you directed me to your video, first of all I ordered a small fry , and am waiting on it now ,am very excited ,and secondly , your video , well your sound is simply awesome , I can tell you do alot of searching for that right tone for yourself , I do also , it is a constant quest ,, anyway , you play great, and your tone is fabulous , if you get a chance check out my videos, thanks David

  • Thank you immensely for the kind words. Yes, I do love to search for that perfect tone, and the odd thing is, even when you find it, you still keep looking for the next thing! And yes, I love Barber product. I have 4 of his pedals, and would like to get more. His stuff, in my opinion, is world-class.

  • Beautiful phrase. Serious. Warmy and criative, reminds me Vai´s. :)

  • Thank you very much. That is an excellent compliment. You just made my day!

  • Thanks.

I'm playing thru a Crate V32 Palomino, which is a relatively inexpensive Class A 1x12 combo. I use the clean channel and get all the overdrive via the pedals.

I have been thinking about doing a Nexus demo.

  • nice playing sounds good!! what amp do you have? can you do a demo of the glass nexus by itself?

  • Very nice chains, sound very good !

  • Also, in the eternal quest for tone, it is hard to under-estimate the importance of having a good guitar and amp. Another thing that may help is that Boss does a good job on some things, like delay and modulation, but not so good on OD. Try experimenting with some good OD pedals. The Barber Direct Drive I am using is only $120 new, not much more than a Boss pedal, but much more satisfying to my ears.

  • I have heard different things concerning where to place modulation effects (like chorus, phase). I have personally had better luck placing them before any gain (pedal or pre-amp). It seems like some modulation pedals have a tendancy to sound 'harsh' if placed after gain-stages. Just experiment with that to see what sounds the best. You might also want to try placing the EQ towards the beginning of the chain so that you are feeding an EQ'ed signal into your pedals. Once again, experiment

  • Thanks for the compliment.

Yeah, there are a couple of old rules that seem to apply to effects. One that works well is that any time-based effects (delay and/or reverb) should be after your gain, which in many cases means it should go into the effects loop. Are you using your pre-amp to generate overdrive? If so, try placing your delay into the effects loop if the amp has one.

  • cool shit dude. Nice pedal chains. I was wondering if you could help me out. Do you think this is good basic pedal chain. (All Boss pedals except wah). From guitar to amp.--Tuner, wah, acoustic simulator, metal zone, overdrive, phase shifter, chorus, equalizer, delay. Is there anything missing? Should I get an Ernie ball volume pedal? Is there anything I don't need? Your shit sounded cool, what is the order of your pedal chain?
