There's one of these for sale at the place I get my current Mercedes serviced for 7,000 it seems like pretty good value, how reliable has yours been for you?
its a fantastic car! all 2.3 16v engines in these (fronm standard) are cosworth, however they are about 180 BHP , the 130 BHP are the 2.3 8v engines (not a cosworth)
for a first car they should be good, however require a bit more maintenance than your average motor.
for a first car you might also want to cnosider a 2.0, 2.3 8v or a 2.6 12v sportline model?
either way check out mercedes190.co.uk , lots of info and friendly advice there :)
you should adjust your valves...if i'm not totaly wrong, the M102 16V, had no hydraulic valve lifters, and was the only Merc in the 80's (or early 90's) without them...
for those interested, my problem with the car has been 100% corrected by replacing the front wheel bearing on the driver side, drives an absolute dream now :)
I had a failed engine mount on the exhaust side on my 2.0 190e. It would vibrate when turning left (weight on the broken engine mount) and accelerating as I think the acceleration would also twist the engine over onto the bad mount. As soon as you turned the car the other way and/or let off the throttle the vibration went away. I now have a 2.5-16 - where did you get that k&n intake? It sounds good but I wasn't aware there was one for the 16v?
is that an original exhaust manifold ?
